Minty Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 Irrespective of your opinion of women's football, this is just wrong IMO. Doncaster Belles, the ONLY ever-present member of the Women's Premier League since it was created in 1991, are to be 'relegated' from the top flight, seemingly because they are not as commercially attractive as Man City, a club whose ladies team have NEVER competed in the top flight, and only last season appeared in the second-tier for the first time ever. Take from http://popularstand.wordpress.com/2013/05/13/the-belles-toll-on-the-fas-relegation-of-the-doncaster-belles/ Doncaster Belles won’t be in the top division next year. Not because of relegation, not because of liquidation, not even due to rebranding. They will not be in the top division next season simply because the FA has decided they will not be. In 2014 the FA have elected to further build upon the Women’s Super League with the introduction of a second tier FAWSL2. All current Super League teams have retained their seat at the top table for the new FAWSL1 except one, Doncaster Rovers Belles, who will be replaced by Manchester City. KelvinsRightGlove Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 Ridiculous, scandalous decision. Been to see Donny Belle's a few times - my family are from donny, and a family friend played for them. Such a strange decision. Obviously signed.

Saint Mikey Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 What's the fuss? Apart from the blip in 1971, the FA have always done what's right for the Women's game: http://www.thefa.com/GetIntoFootball/Players/PlayersPages/WomensAndGirls/History_of_womens_football.aspx 1921 - The FA's finest hour...
