NickG Posted 16 May, 2013 Share Posted 16 May, 2013 No I didn't type it out, cut and paste is quite easy. Other things that are quite easy to understand, despite you lying to try and provoke trollfests: 1) you said anyone thinking we could finish 9th next season is deluded. 2) I said, my view is 8-12th 3) you made up me saying this squad would finish 6th. I don't think they could and didn't say that. 4) how the club will set targets is very subjective, ie little step forward or aim for big improvement. I do think NC aim for 6-9th but who knows. So if you misunderstood my view this makes it simple I think this squad is good enough to finish 8 to 12th. I don't have problem with you disagreeing. I think its arrogant to dismiss others reasoned views as deluded. However if you did understand the points all along please stop your regular lying about other peoples posts to troll. Dalek2003 Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 Ok you've admitted your wrong, fair play. Nobody quite knows with all the behind the scenes talk but, on the assumption Cortese stays and the status quo remains, fancy making an honest prediction for next year? Dont want to be too cocky but none of the sides coming up, including either of the play off hopefuls, worry me too much and I firmly expect hull, play off winner and one other to go down. A spot I dont think will go to saints Sorry to disappoint. Let's see how things pan regarding the next few weeks.
CB Fry Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 Think current squad fair aim - 6th to 9th, most likely 8-13th. 3) you made up me saying this squad would finish 6th. I don't think they could and didn't say that. Why do you keep saying you haven't said something that you actually dig up and quote yourself saying on the same thread? "6th to 9th" includes sixth. "Current squad" means current squad. "Mentalist" means NickG.

So when you said we could finish 6th-9th with the current squad, which if I'm not much mistaken 6th is included in 6th-9th as per the quote CB Fry has produced you now admit you were talking bollo*cks, yes? Someone's lying sunshine and it ain't me. Edited 17 May, 2013 by Turkish
Turkish Posted 17 May, 2013 Share Posted 17 May, 2013 You also said it here. So that's twice you've said this squad can finish 6th. Read my post again, sure you will see your mistake. "Aim" was talking about targets the club could well be setting. I then clearly state my view and its not 6th. No ambiguity. If you don't want to accept that it's up to you but I can't convince you the world is round if you argue for sake of it. Lighten up put me on ignore but stop silly games. What exactly are we making up? You quite clearly said 6th to 9th with this current squad was a 'fair aim'. 6th-9th includes 6th. On the thread I linked you also describe it as 'your opinion" not some target the club might set. So what are we making up? You think "fair aim" was "6th - 9th". You said it. You did. No one else. If you think 6 - 9th is a "fair aim" then you must think it is possible. If not, why say it? Why not say "fair aim" 2nd? Or 10th? Or 3rd? And this post rationalising of "I meant the clubs aim" is garbage. You don't work for the club. That "fair aim" was your opinion. You said it. Why did you express your opinion that the club should "fair aim" for 6th if you had no belief at all they could do it? Are you saying the club are idiots? What is the point of the "fair aim" in that context? You got caught cha tting sh it. Well done. Edited 17 May, 2013 by CB Fry

Saint Without a Halo Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 so, if QPR got 37 points, they would have gone down? Yes the 36 points safety limit is based on having reading Qpr and Wigan at the bottom giving Qpr 37 points would have lifted the safety barrier to 37 points on GD! SaintBobby Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 was redknapp right when he said 37 points would be safe!!!In fairness (god, I can't believe I'm saying that!) Redknapp said he'd "take 37 points". Given QPR's abominable performance under his management, he was right here. Actually, he should have taken 30. Amazingly, he has made Mark Hughes look like a competent Premier League manager. As it turned out, Saints would have stayed up on 36 points given our superior goal difference?A number of fools, trolls and cretins suggested 40 points or more would have been needed to stay up.Best to treat these people as laughably infantile in future.Particular highlight was the "We are going down" thread as Sunderland went 1-0 up. I doubt the utter moron who posted that will be back. Which is sad, in a way, as I think he'd receive useful therapy from people on here if he wasn't so predictably wrong (amongst other predictions were that we would miss out on L1 and Championship auto-promotion...do not buy any financial product or take any financial advice from this man!).It's also crushing to see the "yoyo strategy" in tatters. Hell only knows how we adapt to a "staying up" strategy. The business plan must be in bits....
Stud mark of doom Posted 19 May, 2013 Author Share Posted 19 May, 2013 what if another team got less than 36, say if QPR went on a mad run and beat us (which they did) norwich, stoke, villa etc? In the interests of putting to bed the suggestion that HR was right about something. Other than Sunderland (39) - all the other teams that stayed up finished at least four points clear of 37. I suppose if QPR picked up the extra points against Sunderland it might have just been enough. Sadly QPR took max points off Sunderland in the second half of the season so no scope for them picking up extra point off them.
SaintBobby Posted 20 May, 2013 Share Posted 20 May, 2013 As was wholly unsurprising from the outset, a point a game is about enough to stay up. As it happens, we now know in retrospect that Saints would have stayed up on 36 points due to GD. Not 39. Just 36.
