jawillwill Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 I don't really use Twitter often, and don't really understand who's saying what, but from what I can gather Luke Shaw just offered to get a random young fan tickets for the game this weekend who said he/his dad can't afford tickets. Good lad I say. Maybe I'm a happy clapper, but I really do think we have a genuine nice set of players at the club at the moment compared to your average club. The little gestures can make all the difference...
Webby Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 Seems a bit odd to me. The lad has only just joined twitter and compliments Luke on a great season but says tickets are expensive. Luke says can you not get tickets. Does he not know the game is sold out? No-one can get tickets.

He did turn it down though, as he can't get to the game.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 Not to belittle what is a decent gesture, and good on Luke for doing it. There does seem to be a trend of this on twitter. There have been a few examples of this in recent months. All for it personally. Good on all the players that do it, yes it's easy for them, but they aren't obliged to. John Boy Saint Posted 15 May, 2013 Share Posted 15 May, 2013 Blimey I had to get out a Basildon Bond writing pad when I wrote to Lawrie Mac asking for his help to get a ticket to the League Cup final for me and my Dad when I was 14 and had no way of getting to the Dell. I had to fold it up with a cheque for £5 and put it in an envelope and lick the back of the Queens head and stick on the front and post it in a letter box on a Monday.None of this instant electronic nonsense then. But Thursday on returning from school to be told there is a letter on the side for you postmarked Southampton and when I opened it to find my letter inside, which was a bit confusing, then I took it out and there were also 2 Wembley League Cup final tickets inside and a note written on my letter from Lawrie, as you can imagine I nearly exploded on the spot. i think the timescale from writing the letter on Sunday evening, to my Mum posting it on Monday, to a reply not arriving until 4 days later has probably made the memory last, apart from phoning my school mates I had no way of telling them until the next day at school either. So if young Luke does help this nipper out I hope he still remembers the moment 34 years later: even if it is just a game v Stoke.
