I wonder now if 35 points would have been enough for us to stay up? (Wigan lose today and Sunday and we have 5 less points we would more than likely still be above them on GD!)
All these weeks of 38 and 39 points and we'd been safe all along. When were we on/passed 35 points?

Wigan are officially relegated. That last day fight for survival that looked nailed on, is now null and void.
Shame, the last day of the season is going to be nothing but a fight for places now. Relegation spots sorted, Championship sorted. Boring.

There was an Arsenal fan on TalkSport earlier giving it the biggun, saying that Arsenal could finish 3rd because they'd score tons of goals against their last two oppositions, easily scoring 3 or more tonight. Saying things like that is basically asking for trouble, especially with regards to a team that just won the FA Cup from giant killing the former League Champions. I won't deny Arsenal will go on and win this, they very well might, but not by the romp he was expecting I'm sure.

Sorry, found this quite funny bud

Still a battle for 4th though, Spurs at home, Arsenal away. Could be tasty.

So, 39 points would have been enough after all.

Of course it was.

Just a parade of bedwetting fu ckwits thinking it wasn't.

The only benefit of Spurs and Arsenal fighting for 4th is the teams they play. Otherwise it's like two old lions fighting for a carcass that three better lions have already mauled the good flesh of. Or some sort of analogy like that...

mind you the bookies will not be displeased; unless wise men shovelled shedloads on Wigan to go down at 8/25 on Saturday.

Best bet of the season; easy money.

I did say we were nailed on safe after Reading when looking at the probabilities however a certain Dalek is likely to blow a few fuses now his prediction of 39 points equals relegation which he stuck to in the face of all mathematical probilities seems shot to pieces! Although I must admit he is slightly closer this time than his prediction of Saints finishing 17th in the championship last year!

He's a troll; just sticks to one point all season and never falters; last season it was 17th in the NPC; this season it's 43 points for safety.

Redknapp might even end up being right with his 37 point target...

So he may have got one thing right all season.

Still, bet he's been handsomely rewarded for crap once again.

Meh, you think that's the most stupid thing I've said all day - earlier I told the wife that I'd be surprised if they stocked the new Norwich home kit in her size... :uhoh: She's ignored me since. She can't take a joke.

it was pretty predictable once they got involved in the later stages of the Cup

Not really. The Swansea game could have gone either way (not mentioning the knife-edge results before that). A win in that game would have totally changed the complexion of Sunday.

Lol

Well, I suppose in her defence that would be a good thing, that kit is horrendous

It is, it's like they're wearing yellow vests over green T-Shirts. I hope ours is better.

Cazorla has been excellent all season. Weren't we rumoured to be looking to sign him last summer? Or was that HCDAJFU thread nonsense?

I am a bit puzzled as to why people are saying 35 points and a good GD would be enough. Wigan can still get 38 can't they?

If Villa beat Wigan then 35 points and a GD of -26 or better would have kept you up.

 well yes, obviously!! You have just joined the "I missed the point" club ;)

Another team to play in Europe when not in the top flight. At least they have something to look forward to next season.

Tough.

Winning the FA Cup but never get to celebrate it for real for Wigans players....

yep, it really is a shame. The open top bus (assuming they have one) will feel a bit flat. This, along with many other reasons, is why the FA Cup should still be the final domestic game of the season...

Europa League will be devastating for them, cant have a squad big enough in the Championship to be able to compete in Europe AND in the Championship.

Birmingham did good in europe last time but finally that caught up to them in the league at home...
