Not sure how he deserves it ahead of Shaw.
He doesn't. Might be a case of JWP being a bit of a better public speaker and always being "on-message" whenever interviewed, fully engaged in the "Southampton Way".

Because presumably Scholar of the Year takes into account a range of things including how much of a role model the player is for fellow young players etc. JWP is a model pro by all accounts as well as a fine player.

Unbeliveable acheivement for a defensive midfielder to get player of the season, especially with a talisman like Lambert in the side.

He really does absolutely deserve it though, been brilliant this year.

Thought it was pretty well known that he spoke English but just not to the media?!

Oh! I didn't... I thought he had a basic grasp... sounds like he has more of it... the media thing was probably The Don's idea... he hates them apparently :-)

I maybe wrong!

@TomCoull: Pochettino's first interview in English was absolute class. We have a snippet of it going on YouTube very shortly. #saintsfc #SFCAwards2013

He has spoken good enough English to communicate in detail with the players during breaks of play since he arrived, I think the interpreter thing is just a smokescreen to prevent him having to do more media until he's completely confident and understands more of the media nuances so he isn't misinterpreted by hacks.

Thanks for posting. That ain't bad English, Innit?

And that ladies and gents, is exactly why he hasn't done interviews in English. The press would have crucified him and Cortese if he'd stumbled over his words like that on Match of the Day.

Was a good night, Poch speaks half decent English but think he just wants to make sure he doesn't make any gaffs. Was impressed with the whole set up, much better than previous years.
