jim_bergerac Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Been to a few games now and hearing the song about Maurice Small Pocket, but I have no idea what is actually being sung apart from the ending Pochettino, Pochettino... Help me out please.

The first two lines are describing the second two facts. It is quite simple.

kpturner Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Surely it should be...thats what it feels to be pompey, thats what it feels to be small.. Well maybe so, but I guess it is trying to be true(ish) to the original words. Anyway, accurate or not, it's a 100 times less cringeworthy than that Cortese chant

I can understand the point that its trying to make but in terms of what the words say its completely contradictory. Maybe it's just some big ironic mess that I'm supposed to get, but I don't........and no I don't suffer from autism

UpweySaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Well where its been blagged from the mancs im not sure we can be too critical of the words, at least we've came up with two of our own lines as opposed to other clubs just chucking their name into owts. Either way, makes sense or not, I like it and im glad we've got a chant for MP.

I like the tune but the words need tweaking.

I think the point comes in the second line. Besides when was the last time anybody actually marched anywhere on a football pitch ..? Lord Duckhunter Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 You can't beat WTFILN for the skates. Sums it up totally, take a song of there's, and give it a twist. It works because its so close to the mark. I don't mind this new one, its ok , but id hate WTF to die out.
dubai_phil Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 Don't give up - it's better . Certainly better than "Luuuuuuuuuuuuke" like we are on some golf course somewhere. Did someone mention golf? For us foreigners who can't hear it so well on TV what is the actual TUNE for those words? Can one of you hum it (or you tube it for us) Of just find Eric on the pitch Sunday with our flag and teach him. Cheers
Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 Get in the hole phil. This song would be a lot better if it was they've 'got' wittingham we've 'got'.... Or swap for the opo manager, like on sunday "you've got Pulis, we've got ponchittino."
SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 This is how it feels to be Pompey This is how it feels to be small You sign Whittingham, we sign Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino From what I could hear on Saturday at Sunderland, there seem to be several different versions of this song going round all with very slightly different words. Here are a couple of others: That's what it's like to be Pompey That's what it's like to be poor You sign Whittingham, we sign Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino OR Guess that's what it's like to be Pompey Guess that's what it's like to be poor You sign Whittingham, we sign Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino OR Guess what it's like to be Pompey Guess what it's like to be poor You sign Whittingham, we sign Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino Of those, I personally prefer the one in bold even though it's quite hard to get the words in! That having been said, I would prefer one that didn't focus on Pompey at all - why worry about some tin pot club in League 2? I would like some more positive words about Saints: This is what it's like to be Saints now, Moving up the Premier League Signing lots of players with our manager Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino! Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 My first game of the season on Sunday. Our songs are awful and we have some proper mong fans. For the first time in 6 years, I won't be voting for Javi. This is my nomination for supporter of the year 2013 right here.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 I heard "this is how it feels to be Pompey" at Spurs and at Sunderland. There was a group on the train back from Spurs who sung "this is how it feels to be Pompey" incessantly and after about 10 minutes it began to get on my nerves. I wouldn't mind it so much if it was "wonder how it feels" or "tell us how it feels" or something. Watching Saints play decent football in the Premier League is nothing like what it feels to be Pompey! I know the Inspiral Carpets said "this is how it feels" but thats a song about depression and suicide and stuff, I'm sure we can alter the words slightly? We shouldn't have to copy Man Utd either...
