Ohio Saint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 This would be a disaster for the club. It looks like NC is playing a hand against the trust that is not really that involved anyway. NC has made the last few years very exciting, and certainly given me the most interesting times as a Saints supporter. I would definitely vote for him, but it's kinda like voting for Hitler because he get's the trains to run on time? Hell, I dunno.....I was just looking forward to the transfer window, I was not expecting to have to worry about this on top of it!!

Hell, I dunno.....I was just looking forward to the transfer window, I was not expecting to have to worry about this on top of it!! If Cortese's ambitions aren't to be met then the transfer window will be one way traffic..OUT. Morgan looked as if he was just waiting to put on his Arsenal shirt on Saturday anyway. Something rotten in the state of Denmark. Perhaps the players have had wind of this for a while; hence West Brom
Chewy Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 It was Mussolini who get the trains to run on time. And they were both evil, murdering cvnts. Not sure the analogy is that great ...
Crab Lungs Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 As I said on FB.... As much as I disliked Cortese's handling of the Adkins affair, he's probably the one person this club can ill-afford to lose. Chairmen with his drive, ambition and record of achievement are very, very hard to come by. We are building something at this club, let's not throw it all away now...
Batman Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Regardless, we were always going to sell Shaw to Chelsea for £15 Million. no matter what, you would go mental about it
Georgie Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 I guess I´m a CoC for saying this, but that article to me seems more spot on than anything else written about it today. But then we have contradicting stories that its not about finance but who makes the final decisions. Hmm. Really hope whatever it is is sorted quickly. We really need to start looking at strengthing for next season, but won't while this is up in the air.

Have you not heard that the Chairman is the least important person at club and any half decet CEO could do what Cortese has done. L1 to Prem in 3 years is easy.

Sad fact: I knew it was Mussolini, but I thought it might confuse some of the people on here who might not know who Mussolini was......Some people here don't even know the difference between Loose and lose you know. True fact: To be "Hung like an Italian" has nothing to do with penis size, it has more to do with lamp posts and which way up you are.

monosaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Who knows how this will end up. It could be more exciting than we think. Just enjoy the speculation. It's what we all love.
UpweySaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 It was Mussolini who get the trains to run on time. And they were both evil, murdering cvnts. Not sure the analogy is that great ... Actually that's a bit of a myth, QI said so
.comsaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 ffs. I was looking forward to a summer where MP bought 3 or 4 exciting, top quality players to Southampton which will see us step up a gear next season. Instead - I'm getting a sense of boardroom turmoil, player exits, and even MP considering his position after what he would have been promised prior to arriving here (ie funding). It's never dull being a Saints fan.
Guan 2.0 Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Sad fact: I knew it was Mussolini, but I thought it might confuse some of the people on here who might not know who Mussolini was......Some people here don't even know the difference between Loose and lose you know. True fact: To be "Hung like an Italian" has nothing to do with penis size, it has more to do with lamp posts and which way up you are. In that case it would be 'Hanged' . Lol at people who suggest any chump could come in and equal the achievements of Cortese. Also lol at those who dismiss those who respond to positive 'reports' as mindless clappers, then sieze upon unconfirmed tweets as 'proof'. FWIW, I'm in the boring 'Wait and see' camp. The truth will out sonner than later, whatever it may be. I hope Cortese stays, and that whatever happens, our preparations for next season are not hindered!

scotty Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 All I can see in these reports is that NC currently has final approval on all major decisions, and that the trust wish to end that arrangement. I suppose it could be an oblique way of putting the club up for sale, but it doesn't read like that to me at all.
scotty Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Relax, this is a 'storm in a teacup'. I retract my previous comment. Now I am seriously worried.
sammysaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 If its a case of money, lets hope we beat stoke finish 12th or 11th get that bit extra money, and NC and ML family can agree we dont sell our best players, but if we dont, the club must run on a smaller budget then this year. I personally think we need 4 players to ensure we finish between 12th and 9th next season with a good cup run that would be a Winger, CB spare LB and RB, for me they can all be brought for 20 million, i feel a steady rise to the top can be achieved without spending 30 mill a season, if we keep our best young players, unless its for very good money eg Shaw for 20 million, Morgan for 15 million.
Sour Mash Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Oh and one last piece i'm also fairly sure that the Benali thing IS relevant, but ontop of that maybe people should look more into payment (or not) of bills from the club, including what NC himself has billed out (the clubs money being spent as his own). I wonder if the trust had been aware how much of NC's personal expenses went through the club, including housing etc?
ollysaints1 Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 This certainly adds a bit of excitement to what would have been a pretty dull week of football for us.
stug76 Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Is there anything resembling a fact or a direct quote in the previous 10 pages? I suspect that the anti-Cortesiers (?) have got their w*anking sock at the ready? Don't worry folks, it's still happening.....
Wiggles31 Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Classic over reaction, the whole team will be sold and so on. I'll sit back for now and see how this develops before hitting panic stations.
Gingeletiss Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Those of you who think we will be spending zillions next season, are forgetting about this little gem............. The Premier League’s financial fair play regulations
the colonel Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Com out and support NC. Where would we be if he hadn't introduced us to Marcus. Yes he has upset a few people but it is in the club and its future he is trying to build. MLT, LMc & FB will never be forgotten but they are the past. Now is time to support the future. So lets not look a gift horse in the mouth. Remember where we were 3 to 4 years ago. In NC we trust.

Bearsy Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 i figure all good cortese stories needs a downfall yo! [video=youtube_share;75eBEWtd-Zo]
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 I love this, 10 pages of speculation about one story, some posters thinking they are the second coming of mystic meg, Hypo accounting for half the posts and claiming he's a journalist, sex, drugs, murder, a dog ****ing a seagull, people claiming we're going to get relegated even though we're safe, MP leaving, Guly getting his 15 minutes playing time, two girls, sisters probably, I'm just watching, more forum splits between those who think NC is good and those who don't, made up quotes, Luke Shaw to leave etc. This place truly is a mongboard. Everyone calm down and wait and see. Whatever decision is made, will be well considered as these people don't get to where they are by being stupid and impulsive.
musesaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 FFS ! Yesterday I was floating. Today a cloud is again hanging over us If Cortese leaves it will be a disaster - no question of that in my mind. Even those who love to hate him MUST realise that is obvious. He is one of the best things to happen to our club for years - finally a Chairman with ambition, determination and (dare I say this) a ruthless streak lacking in many clubs. Sort it our please Might whatever is going on in the backround reflect what's been going on (or rather not going on) for a few weeks??

Marcus wanted to buy us and would have asked his lawyer or AN other, had NC not been around I don't think that's true. jawillwill Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 So in effect, if this theory is true, the party is over. If the party is over, at least we all enjoyed it while it lasted. Except you.
influx Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Oh great, looks like weve going to have Alpine et al continuously moaning about the lack of transfer activity in the close season. Thats me keeping away for the forseeable then.

It is our prime need,no good just playing well, you need to concretise it with goals; the sort of goal that Lambert can't score as he so deftly showed yesterday. He sinks that and we're on our way to victory; muffs it and we have absorb more pressure.

There has always been a pattern with Saints news in recent years. Something good will happen and within few days there is an equally bad or unsettling news story that emerges in the press to counter act any good feeling we have at Saints fans. I was almost expecting this after yesterday, but I must admit this unsettling news came out even quicker than I expected this time around though. I reckon this will drag on for some time now and as annoying as it is to wait and see what happens next that is all we can do. I suppose we should be excited we are in the premier league for at the very least one more season
Joensuu Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Relax, this is a 'storm in a teacup'. For the first time ever, I hope one of your predictions actually comes true.
Raging Bull Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 I don't think that's true. Liebherr had money to invest and NC was the one who pointed him towards Southampton, he'd been looking at us for another client as well. Is this right? Do we know who?
Charlie Wayman Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Spin this any way you want, it is not good news and will unsettle everyone who works at or supports the club. We must hope any issues are resolved quickly. I dread the thought of this guy walking away. Stabilty and Saints seem to have little in common except the letter 'S'
aintforever Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 If Cortese leaves it will be a disaster Don't be such a bloody bed wetter. If the Liebherrs don't want to finance Cortese's march to the Champions League that is entirely up to them. If they want someone else to run their club it's up to them. Cortese has done a good job but the only bad news IMO is that the article hints at the owners not wanting to invest.
Tom28 Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 I have it on good authority that Cortese has been away on business the last two weeks tying up deals for players. Italy and Spain. And it was a successful mission. He's not going anywhere. I also know what the kit is for next season, home and away. All I'll say is home kit won't go down well but I like it; away kit was a big surprise and not sure if I like it or not!!

St Chalet Posted 13 May, 2013 Posted 13 May, 2013 Nothing ever leaks from the Southampton boardroom, but this does. Cortese would no doubt be delighted with the reaction he has received here and other media which has generally been favourable once people moved on from the brutal way he dismissed Adkins. For what it is worth, I think he is very good for us. That said, nobody is bigger than the club and if he does move on - someone will replace him. Personally I hope he does get the backing he is clearly asking for because it means that we will have the materials needed to fulfil an ambition I think he shares with many Saints fans.
