Dr. Kucho Posted 14 May, 2013 Posted 14 May, 2013 Rest for what exactly - its the last game of the season! They will all want to be at the party! Isgrove is training with the first team squad this week so will probably get a cameo. Strongest team available. Saints back to their best! They seem tired, possibly overtrained. If they play, whilst being overtrained, they have a bigger chance of getting injured (especially Shaw as he is only 17). MP also stated that Lambert hasnt trained properly for some weeks and Shaw and Schneiderlin have had injuries recently. I am aware that the higher we finish the more money we get, but I would rather we finished 15th, then finishing 12th with vital players being injured and missing parts of the pre season.
Toomer Posted 14 May, 2013 Posted 14 May, 2013 We can now go into this game relaxed and play our high tempo game and come away with three points.
Jimmy_D Posted 14 May, 2013 Posted 14 May, 2013 Seeing as I'll be making an appearance, don't plan on anything better than a 1-1 draw!! Of the 21 games I've managed to watch Live or be down the pub and watch "Live" our record is a pretty dismal P 21 W2 D9 L10. Which means the games I'v missed "Live" = P 16 W7 D4 L5 Christ it's even worse than I thought it would be. Sorry Folks. Phil really wasn't joking about banning you was he?

trousers Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 Full strength team for me..places up for grabs... I'm on the same wavelength but I'd be tempted to start Forren (which may be considered "full strength" anyhow...depending on how good he is of course!)
Saint Garrett Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 http://www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/southampton-tickets-latest-822925.aspx? Look like they'll get close to selling out.
alpine_saint Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 Could give Forren a run out now. Yeah, like a dog locked up all day needing a p*ss..
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 Would love to beat Stoke purely because of how they bailed Pompey out with Loanees etc. while they were flicking the V's at football and bending all the rules. What is it? About £2M a position?
Window Cleaner Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 (edited) Would love to beat Stoke purely because of how they bailed Pompey out with Loanees etc. while they were flicking the V's at football and bending all the rules. What is it? About £2M a position? 800K'ish 17th would get us the square root of not much; bout 2.5 million and 11th about 6.5 million; based on last years figures of course. So 14 million equal share, about 5 million in facility fees (TV games) 19 million from overseas TV revenue (equal shares) and somewhere between 2 and 7 million in prize money I suppose. Total somewhere between 40 and 45 million based on last year. Goes up a bit every year though and next year there is more overseas revenue to be shared. http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premiership/premier-league-tv-prize-fund-money-weve-all-the-figures Edited 15 May, 2013 by Window Cleaner

Fair play to them bringing 2500 all the way from Stoke. Although if it was the reverse fixture we would have sold out our allocation already. Should be a good atmosphere though with close to 32000 fans.
svetigpung Posted 15 May, 2013 Posted 15 May, 2013 i am flying over for this game. not had too much luck this season. so my expectations arent that high. would love for us to go out with all guns blazing. Gonna have a cracking day anyhow. can see Puncheon , Guly , Ward-Prouse all deservidly getting a game. Not exactly a weaker option. dont think it would be an easy game for Forren to debut. I mean Stoke Hoof Wrestle FC. COYS
Saint Paul C Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 Lets go crazy --------- Boruc ----------- --- Fonte - Jos - Forren----- Clyne -------------- Shaw -------- Morgan ------------ Puncheon ----------- Lallana ----- SRL -- JRod ----------

trousers Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Good morning from Staplewood, where our pre-@stokecity press conference will be kicking off shortly. #saintsfc
trousers Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 (edited) @SouthamptonFC: Mauricio Pochettino: "I'm very happy, but we always knew the team had the capabilities to stay in this league for next season." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We need to win against @stokecity in order to be as high as possible in the table. That would make our supporters happy." # @SouthamptonFC: MP: "I don't really like to speak about myself. How we've done is down to the players and Nicola Cortese." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "It's very important that we finish this season with a win. As with all games, I'll chose the players best capable." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "I want to highlight the job Tony Pulis has done at @stokecity. They have a different philosophy but they believe in it." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "They've carried that through the season, and it's not easy to play that way so I congratulate them." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "For me, Michael Owen has been one of England's greatest footballers. I was unlucky to suffer his skill at the World Cup!" #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "It will be nice to see him (Owen) on Saturday. Maybe we can argue about that moment!" #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "It's very good that Shaw and Clyne are going to Euro 2013, but the bad thing is that they won't have much of a summer break." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We're going to start looking at our goals for next season. In fact, we're going to have a meeting about them today." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "By 1st July, we want to know exactly which signings will be available to us. It may be difficult but we'll try our hardest." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We'll try to speed up the decisions that need to be made. We don't want players to have trouble adapting." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "On Sunday it will be four months that we've been here. Many things have happened during that time." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We need a bit of detachment to analyse that. We've improved and learned a lot but I don't want to get ahead of myself." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We have an important game left. In my next press conference, I will be able to express a lot more about these four months." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "These four months have been the most intense I've had in football, so I may take a few days off this summer!" #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: Pochettino says Rickie Lambert, @Luke_shaw3, Steve De Ridder and Vegard Forren have missed some training sessions this week. #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "We may have more Under-21 players training with us today, so perhaps there will be a chance for some of them on Sunday." #saintsfc @SouthamptonFC: MP: "Rickie has had a back problem for the last month, but hopefully he will be OK for the game on Sunday." #saintsfc Edited 16 May, 2013 by trousers
Saint Garrett Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 (edited) Lets hope those goals match those of Cortese! And that may explain why Rickie has been a little off the boil in recent weeks. Edited 16 May, 2013 by Saint Garrett

Window Cleaner Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 Said SRL got clattered by some lumps a few games ago, got no fouls and went off moaning at the ref big time at half time, not been the same since. targeted. indeed; when you look at the post match gallery on the OS you see loads of fouls that the ref just doesn't sanction; Rickie seems to be on the receiving end of a lot of them. Mind you we're perpetrating a few of them as well; not on Rickie though.

Window Cleaner Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 or Lallana on the bench and JWP in his place, not sure that JWP is hard enough to play CM against Stoke.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 Shaw was training today, I think he'll play on Sunday. looks old when compared with the other youngsters doesn't he. Whatever happened to the orange boots a few of them had, didn't last long did they. Played some of our best games with those boots.

saintchrissy Posted 16 May, 2013 Posted 16 May, 2013 as its his last game (if he is not injured) what sort of reception should michael owen get seeing as he was one of the best england forwards to play for the three lions IMO and IMO no current england striker player is good enough yet? was just a random question thought?
benjii Posted 17 May, 2013 Posted 17 May, 2013 Would like to see Rodriguez have a go as the central striker. Shame Ramirez is out though as I think they would be a great pair.
St.Patrik Posted 17 May, 2013 Posted 17 May, 2013 Flying over for this game - thanks god it´s not the same senario as 2005 as that tripp was spoiled by Van Horsefaceelroy....Now a relaxed feeling and a confortable 3-0 please : )
rshephard3 Posted 17 May, 2013 Posted 17 May, 2013 I hope MP proves he's actually been watching the games and drops Lallana. Puncheon must be amazed not to be starting at the moment and off the back of an equaliser at Sunderland he must start. I'd be tempted to leave Forren out now we are this far through the season but why the hell we bought a player who was injured until the end of a campaign, I don't know. What a waste of wages. Why not agree to take him in the summer?! If we don't win this we really have finished the season with a whimper and, after some spectacular results under MP, have slipped to mediocrity and a fair few performances worse than those served up under NA. Lets also give Morgan a bag load of support going into the summer, he needs to know he's a hero at Saints because he's the player the big boys will be looking at.
