Saint_clark Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 If he'd scored that golden opportunity in the first half, this thread would not have been started.
georgeweahscousin Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 The poor bloke is knackered. Been too heavily relied upon all season.
Whitey Grandad Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Not anymore he's not. Lambert has been excellent for us and will have a big role to play next year, but I still think we need an alternative option upfront, plus he's not getting any younger. Until next Sunday! He's got as many as Berbatov.
Wiggles31 Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 What a class interview on Saints player. Would love him to get a goal tomorrow and show Owl face what an error he made not picking him. Biggest Saints hero since Le Tissier. How is he not club captain!?
doddisalegend Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 I see from the BCC rickie has a back injury Southampton's Rickie Lambert (back) and Luke Shaw (virus) will be assessed ahead of the game. I don't know if it's true but I was told this morning he has been suffering from back problems for several weeks might explain his (alleged) dip in form.... Biggest Saints hero since Le Tissier. How is he not club captain!? I too would be delighted for him to get a goal tomorrow, rounding off a successful season for him after arriving in the top division at a late stage of his career. SuperSAINT Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 I think Rickie often goes through a spell like this, and it's normally down to a niggling injury. He's been magnificent for us this year. Would be delighted to see him get the winner tomorrow.
Wiggles31 Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 His goal against City. What a moment. Arguably highlight of the season for me.
modern matron Posted 18 May, 2013 Share Posted 18 May, 2013 His goal against City. What a moment. Arguably highlight of the season for me. Totally agreed. A start in silencing critics that doubted his ability in the PL.
doddisalegend Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 I see Rickie end up joint top English scorer along with Lampard (and 7th top scorer) in the PL scoring as many goals as Berbetov and Demba ba...and people still don't think he is up to it? I can't see any of the 6 players who scored more than Lambert coming to saints. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers
Raging Bull Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 What did SRL have on his t shirt when he scored, couldn't really see from where I was sat but looked like he lifted his saints shirt to reveal something.

Shame he's been carrying the back injury and I feel this could be one reason why he's not been challenging for high balls as much as earlier in the season. Saint Garrett Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 Wasn't amazing today, but tried hard as normal, and got a goal. Saints legend!
DuncanRG Posted 19 May, 2013 Share Posted 19 May, 2013 Played well today, his best in a while even if you discount the goal. He's been anonymous in the last few games but the injury kind of explains it - I do wonder therefore why Pochettino's played him for 90 minutes so often. I'm not sure it's a 'risk' to let Rodriguez or Mayuka lead the line if it enables Lambert to recover faster.
