dubai_phil Posted 12 May, 2013 Share Posted 12 May, 2013 Great effort to make it back. Shame they'll never get the chance to play the skates.... Seeing as they'll pass them next year
Bourne Valley Saint Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Great Result for Salisbury. Back in the Conference again after being demoted two divisions in 2010 by a dodgy board who changed the rules on paying the taxman days after giving Salisbury the boot. One of the decision makers was the chairman of Forest Green whose side finished in the relegation places (third from bottom) but avoided relegation thanks to that board's decision!!! Salisbury got 68 points that season, had a ten point deduction mid-season, then got demoted two divisions. Funny how teams like Salisbury, Swindon and Luton get clobbered but Portsmouth just get a meaningless ten point deduction after managing to relegate themselves without the League's intervention! Anyway good luck to them. There are loads of Saints fans living in and around Salisbury and most that I know have an affinity to both teams. sandwichsaint Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 Anybody on here go, sounded like an exciting game? Gutted for Dover and I would like to have gone but I had a prior engagement in the Sunderland area. Any idea on numbers? Kids in school who went were saying Dover had nearly a thousand down there? Sounds a lot to me but I've heard that from several people, decent effort if it's correct?
Jackie@home Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 I was there; I watch Salisbury when Saints are away. Saints fans on the staff at Salisbury as well. There was a gate just short of 3,500, many didn't get in before kick-off. The first half was a bit dour, but it definitely picked up in the second half! A few good goals, especially from Jamie White, ex-Saint. Fantastic atmosphere and celebrations in the Sarum Suite with the players after the match. About 800 there from Dover. Jackie@home Posted 13 May, 2013 Share Posted 13 May, 2013 He's done well.I think he could score more with a better level of service, which hopefully he might get next season if the right players are brought in. Impressive performance from him yesterday and a peach of a goal.
david in sweden Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 Nice! ..pity they relegated by the Rule Book, (and shame that Eastleigh couldn't make it this time around, too.)

Bourne Valley Saint Posted 14 May, 2013 Share Posted 14 May, 2013 No - Nick left when they got kicked out of the Conference. As did Tommy Widdrington. Darell Clarke is the manager now - ex Hartlepool player. Nick is working away from football at present. I spoke with his son last week and he said Nick is fine. SCFC fan Posted 16 May, 2013 Share Posted 16 May, 2013 How has Jamie done this season, his father is a personal friend of mine, so I like to pass on any info I pick up as he lives in Thailand. Hi I have watched all but 2 or 3 Salisbury City games this season home and away. An I can say Jamie is doing flipping well. Easily the best striker in the league and the golden boot that he has got this season in the BSBS is well deserved with 27 in the league, plus 1 in cups. Great young man too, has helped me coach my SCFC U10's as well for a month or two. Thats after 54 goals last season at Winchester! Next season in the conference prem, I have a feeling he will be even more suited to the style of play. The Conf South is full of big thug defenders who would rather rugby tackle you than play football. In fact I think the whites passing style full stop will be more suited in the league above. It won't be easy competing against much bigger clubs like Luton, Wrexham and Grimsby to mention a few, but hey we beat 2 of them in the cups last year :-) and that was before we rebuilt and massively improved the squad for the start of this season. So who knows, what I can and will say is I am glad Jamie White has just signed a new two year deal, there are a lot of league 1, 2 and even championship teams that have been watching him this year. Good luck to saints next season, my 10 year old is a saints (as well as SCFC) fan and you doing well as well as us, makes for one happy house :-)
