Are we really better under pochettino?

I for one think not..,.....no guts, no passion (except raising the game for the big teams) and no cutting edge.

Thought at the time, and definitely so now, that NA was harshly treated and did not know what the new guy would bring: relegation battle and we have gone backwards at an alarming rate after the initial honeymoon period.

Will be a long, hard season next year if we stay up and we will be battling relegation again with Pochettino in charge. Just hope he strengthens smartly in the summer but I have my doubts.

No.

Dreadful decision, said so at the time, no reason to change that view despite all the 'big talk'.

Seem to remember someone posting from a Spanish/Espanyol supporting friend that he was their version of Steve Bruce. Would we have wanted him at St Mary's ?

Nice bloke no doubt, wish him well at Saints, but its glaringly obvious he'll p!ss off back to Spain if a decent opportunity arises.

No we're certainly no better off with Pochettino - but we are where we are and have to press on from here.

We're just getting no luck infront of goal. By all accounts the better team today and poor finishing / good.

We need to address our defence and attack in the summer, though. CB and Striker priority. goalkeeping prevented us from scoring 3

give the bloke a chance to mould the team with his signings and a proper close season FFS.

We may not have seen consistency but we have seen a higher level of performance from Adkins players than Adkins achieved.

Roll on next season....be excited.

Are you convinced he will still be here next season ?

Would come as no surprise if NC makes another change.

its too early to say but this is a far from convincing end to the season we are nowhere near a top ten team at the moment. Lets all get behind poch next season and see where we are at Xmas. We were dire in the transfer window so hopefully a better one this season!

Do you really believe he sees his future in English football ?

With the language issue as well I do not blame him if he seeks a return to Spain if a decent sized Spanish club come in for him.

I think with a summer of training and additions to the squad (and there will probably be a complete overhaul of the squad), we'll really challenge next season.

We seem to play a good pressing game which has the bigger teams struggling but then struggle against the scrappier lot. I think he just needs to learn when to press and when not to, and improve our finishing, and we'll be flying. While our recent form hasn't been good, I still think he's a good manager and we'll do well under him next season.

I think, in many ways, his hands have been tied. We don't have a big squad, and if one of our first teamers are out we have to call on the likes of De Ridder or Fox.

I think, once he invests a little bit of his image into the side, we can really see what he's made of.

We're not any better, and not really any worse either. Its striking how similar results and performances under Adkins and Pochettino have been. Good performances against the top teams, lacklustre and sometimes dreadful against the weaker ones. Similar per game points tally, frustratingly inconsistent.

So far the manager change hasn't been justified. Pochettino may be 'okay' but 'okay' doesn't justify the stiffing of our most successful manager in recent decades and in the process taking a huge risk mid season.

But, to be fair, the risk paid off. Pochenttio will be managing in the PL next year, and Nigel will be back in the championship.

It was a brave call by Cortese but I think long-term, it will be the right one.

strikingly similar how? we lost at home to Sunderland under Adkins so a draw away is a better result isn't it ?

Like for like opponents Adkins 12 points Pochettino 18 exactly how is that similar.

Entirely true.

We need a really good performance and result against Stoke to tuck this season away. At the start of the season I'd have taken survival by any means if it was offered, so that's a really good achievement. But expectations do change, and our last 4 or 5 games have been below par from what we've been brought to expect since around November time, when we had a real turnaround of fortunes under the former manager, which then led over to the current manager.

MP still has lots to prove IMO.

I have absolutely no reason to believe otherwise. In addition, I see no evidence of a 'language issue' given that we know from numerous sources that he gets his point across to the players just fine in English, and will have the summer to improve more. Furthermore, what I know about Cortese suggests to me that he is not the kind of man to make an appointment like this only for him to see him manager leave at the first opportunity. I also think that, with the resources we have and the facilities being built, we are an exciting club to be a part of. I also think that his tenure at the club so far has been, at the very least, promising, although it is true that we haven't pulled away from safety quite as easily as we had hoped. Pochettino may or may not work out at SFC, but 'glaringly obvious' that he will leave it is not.

Key now is that he gets a summer to work with his players, bring in new faces and generally put his stamp on the team and the club. Then we will really see what he is made of.

Or of course Cortese might sack him in August or something if we don't win our first match...

Okay mitch, respect your view and of course I have no firm evidence to back up my view, but we'll have to agree to disagree and see how things pan out over the course of the next twelve months or so.

I do agree with your comment " ..., with the resources we have and the facilities being built, we are an exciting club to be a part of.." , but would add the qualification to that, providing it is managed properly, and I don't mean by MP but by NC, and Reed.

That's a bizarre comment. Saints are in almost exactly the same position now as they were when Adkins was sacked and Reading were already unsaveable by the time Adkins arrived. Slightly more relevant is that fact that on current form (past 4 games) Saints are 17th whilst Reading are 10th.

With to a doubt I think we have moved on. We are dominating teams like never before. It's only the last few games we seem to have become shot shy and a bit less clinical. Today we should have murdered S/land. 10 shots on goal? We have become lame in front of goal that's all. Sharpen up the finishing and I can genuinely see us hammering teams 3/4-0. Week in week out.
