Callum McMananman

he's been great since the Huddersfield game. Pace, tricks and dribbles for fun. Like him a lot.

He's very good but when he's not firing on all cylinders, he can try too much and gets quite erratic.

Was poor against Swansea and had been out of form recently. But he's young and consistency should come with experience and maturity.

But like other home grown players, someone will end up paying over the odds for him. Unsure whether the value will be there.

FA Cup winners and relegated in the same season - that can't have happened to many teams. (Ignnoring Birmingham winning the League Cup and getting relegated a couple of seasons ago...) Wigan aren't down yet though, and if their players play anything like that then 6 points isn't impossible for them, but I think Man City have been strolling for weeks and Arsenal will be a different, more difficult nut to crack.

Funnily enough, I'd struggle to name any QPR players I'd want, I definitely wouldn't want any of the Reading players, but there's a good two or three players from Wigan that I think could strengthen us. Maloney, McManaman (who was superb today and caused City's defence to lose their discipline) and their on-loan keeper Robles impressed me today too.

A season of mixed emotions for Wigan fans then. The sad thing is Wigan actually play better football than some of the teams that will stay up, like Stoke and West Ham - they're just mightily inconsistant.

Seemed a bit of a one trick pony today...

He was better than that - Kompany was going mental having to deal with him - although I admit his finishing needs work. He should've scored twice today, once in both half. When he cut inside with on his left in the first half he could've scored, and the chance in the second half when he tied the City defence in knots definitely should've deserved a goal.

Pleased for Wigan - I hope they go out and have a bloody good hard drink tonight - and forget they're playing on Tuesday.

MISSING: Gael Clichy - Last seen in Callum McManaman's back pocket. If spotted, please contact Manchester City Football Club immediately!

I think we have to remember he was up against Gael Clichy, the only left back in the league who Danny Fox could teach a thing a two about positional play.

Didn't he also clatter someone recently with a horror tackle?

edit; on Haidara, a really bad legbreaker.

Bad tackle, but way to much made of it. The guy was only out for a month. The way Newcastle fans were going on you'd think he'd ripped his leg off and eaten it.

Did people not realise his potential last season when he was one of Blackpool's main attacking threats in the Championship during his 3 month loan? In the game at St Mary's he had the confidence to run and attack Richardson and also the confidence to shoot from 20 yards out and it squirmed through Bart's legs.

Looked very good that day and after a slow 2nd part of last season and 1st part of this, seems to be developing into a top top player. I think a full season at Championship level next season would do him the world of good confidence wise (weaker full backs, weaker goalkeepers etc)

After a MOTM performance in the Cup Final, I very much doubt he'll have to drop down a division if he's intent on staying in the PL. He's already been attracting rave reviews so every English club will have been more than aware of him before yesterday. And Wigan will be in need of recouping a bit of money if they go down. Even if they miraculously stay up they'll have a job keeping hold of him.

Why will he drop a league when he is doing the business in the premier league

He has been better than lallana and Ramirez, yet I doubt you would suggest they drop down a league

no thanks, lacks any sort of technical skill. Will disappear into the lower reaches of the footballing tiers soon enough.

Exactly the opinion in my household. The 3 touches he needed to get it on his favoured foot early in the 1st half when clear through on goal had me groaning. Bloke looks brain dead, and I'll take bets on him plying his trade in the championship within 2 years.

Do you not think he can be coached or trained.

He has only been playing premier league football for half a season and is 22 years old.

He doesn't look or seem bright enough to be coached. A couple of times he could have played Kone (my man of the match, ideal replacement for Lambert) in, but chose the wrong option (often trying to beat another man or shooting from a poor angle), 22 seems a bit old to start having traits coached out of you, and as I said he looks like one of the players not intelligent enough to have those traits coached out of him.

So, do you think lallana is destined to dip back into the championship

Nope, smart player with a brain. He's skilful, doesn't rely on speed to beat players, can pick a pass and more importantly he's intelligent enough to adapt his game. If he can stay injury free next year he could be sensational, would like to see him improve his shooting though. No more posts left, cheerio. COYR
