Glasgow_Saint Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Who do we want? Championship Team of the Year: GK: Kaspar Schmeichel (Leicester City) DEF: Kieran Trippier (Burnley) DEF: Wes Morgan (Leicester City) DEF: Mark Hudson (Cardiff City) DEF: Wayne Bridge (Brighton & Hove Albion) MID: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) Now Man U! MID: Thomas Ince (Blackpool) MID: Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City) MID: Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace) FWD: Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace) FWD: Matej Vydra (Watford) Congrats Wayne Bridge btw - what a year....... Champ team of the year, playoffs, engaged, lady pregnant. Good times for him
Doctoroncall Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Perhaps another youngster... Burnley's England U21 right-back Kieran Trippier
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 None of them other than Zaha and he's gone to Man Utd.
The9 Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Just proves what a step it is to the Premier League, that side would struggle to stay in the Prem. Weird that Whittingham's in it, he can't get in Cardiff's team at the moment.
Saint Garrett Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Would have a look at Trippier and Ince, not fussed by the rest though. Trippier isn't good enough to get in ahead of Clyne and sounds like the Gamez deal is pretty much done.
studentsaint Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Did anyone see hydra last night? Awful. Would love us to son trippier, great young full back to battle with Clyne. The only other person I would go for is ince, youth, enthusiasm, pace, no fear, would take the premier league by storm IMO.
saints-cris Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Ince is pure class. Vydra can look fantastic, but seems a bit raw at the moment.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Would have a look at Trippier and Ince, not fussed by the rest though. This.

We've had similar discussions on another thread and I think we concluded Trippier can play lb or rb comfortably so could cover clyne and shaw (provided we dont get gamez).
Turkish Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Didn't we try and sign Tripper at the same time as we got Danny Fox??
SuperSAINT Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 Didn't we try and sign Tripper at the same time as we got Danny Fox?? If memory serves, didn't we go in for both J-Rod & Trippier? (Didn't get either at the time, though)
Rasiak-9- Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 That actually a remarkably poor selection. Most Champo teams of the year come with at least 4-5 players who would cut it for a low mid-table Premiership team. I literally wouldn't want any of that lot.

Chez Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 How does Wittingham get into these teams. Very average player Kelvin Davis Nathaniel Clyne James Tomkins Curtis Davies Ian Harte Adam Lallana Peter Whittingham Mark Noble Matt Phillips Rickie Lambert Jay Rodrigue
SNSUN Posted 10 May, 2013 Posted 10 May, 2013 My Palarse supporting mate claims Bolasie is the bogs dollocks. Aside from that rose-tinted recommendation I'd take Schmeichel and Ince as squad-strengtheners.

Aside from that rose-tinted recommendation I'd take Schmeichel and Ince as squad-strengtheners. I remember watching Bolasie play for Plymouth ages ago and thought he looked decent, was surprised when he signed for Palace to be fair as I thought he would go to the Prem sooner rather than later. He was also the only player to stand out when we last played Plymouth in L1 and sent them down.
