We owe Watford's fans team a return match after they travelled down to us last season, this game has been pencilled in for Saturday 8th June. Venue and kick-off time are yet to be finalised, but it's likely to be a mid-morning kick-off.

If you're interested in playing, please let me know.

If you're a newbie, please let me know your age, preferred position(s) and vague standard.

Would this be the perfect opportunity for a pre-WorldNet run out of Mr Crab Lungs Esq.... Hmmmm

It would, but it would also be a good time to hone your "telling everyone you're playing then not turning up" technique, to get it from "World Class" to "All Time Great".

I've upgraded to a "yes" based on being slightly fitter than a few weeks ago, but the MRI results next week might completely put the mockers on it.

Surely you are not going to join the ACL club a la me and Stevo aswell ? Im a two time member, and its not brilliant.

I reckon we've got 7 on this thread (8 if Smirking_Saint confirms?) and a few more from the Facebook event I set up, so with a bit of a recruitment drive over the next couple of weeks we should be fine. I spoke to the guys at Watford at the weekend and they suggested they might even lay on some food for us after the game so it's not a case of having to travel up there, play the game and come straight back afterwards.

Hi Steve, Do you know where the match is happening. I know a few people that want to play, and I know that you would prefer Saints fans, but I know that I could get 5/6 players to join us, if you are ok with this?

I'm already kinda in it, had a keyhole op in 2009, was good for about 18 months but then found I couldn't run without pain at pre-season last year and by February I couldn't run at all, the fact it's already as bad as it was beforehand is the current problem. Built the muscles up around it a little bit recently which has helped.

I think I somehow managed to have my ACL, PCL, and knee meniscus ruined by one knee-high scissor tackle from behind (13 years ago). The op only trimmed a bit of tissue and ligament but I don't think they addressed the tweaky ACL at all, and I'm not even sure they did much with my PCL which was definitely a problem. I'll find out on Thursday.

I haven't got any venue details just yet, other than it'll be in the Watford area. Because of the time of year, finding a venue that still has football pitches marked up is pretty tricky.

In terms of extras, if they're Saints fans then by all means invite them along - ideally they should be registered to the forum as well. If not, I'd ask you to hold fire for the time being.

Kick-off time is confirmed as 11.00, just waiting to hear back regarding the venue.

Provisional squad list:

Steve Grant, Scott Griffin, Chris Summers, Michael Fordham, Kevin Sim, Dave Mansell, Brad Smirk, Mick McIntyre, Matt Marchant, Dan Armstrong, Joe Menzies, Chris Knight, Andy Porter, Alex Griffiths, "proevosaints" (can I have your real name, please :toppa: )

If anyone else is interested, please let me know asap. I want to get the squad finalised before I fly out to Brazil next Friday. And yes, that is a humble brag :smug:

Does this mean I'm Gk'ing for this game? Or would Scott go in goal? (Not a joke, serious comment as I know Scott doesn't like missing out on these games) I'm sure someone can protect his knee by taking goal kicks?

Cheeky fooker. I'm not playing in goal, and my calf's much worse than my knee at the moment, so either it's fine, I'm there and able to play outfield, or I'm not there at all. Spazzed out my calf due to playing a six a side tournament and then 5-a-side a couple of hours later, but it feels more like a bad cramp than a muscle pull, though I couldn't walk at all on Tuesday, I'm almost back to normal now.

FWIW, yesterday's MRI results found that there were no problems with my ACL or PCL any more (presumably fixed by the last op), but I do have a load of cartilage missing from the back of my kneecap which is why I keep getting stabbing pains, as the tendon can't run smoothly behind the knee. Also some cartilage missing from the top of the tibia. Getting a surgeon's opinion but looks like they're not going to need to operate, and step exercises to build up my quad will manage it as well as possible - which means I can play as much as I want as long as I don't go months on end without doing exercise like I did around Xmas, because then the knee loses supporting muscle and will hurt more.

Venue details are as follows, based on an 11.00 kick-off (please aim to get there by 10.30):

Parmiters School

High Elms Lane

Garston

WD25 0UU

Important to note that this venue is a 3G SURFACE, so choose your footwear appropriately, please. Unfortunately because of the time of year, they have been unable to find any grass pitches.

GK: Chris Summers

DF: Matt Marchant, Dan Armstrong, Mick McIntyre, Joe Menzies, "saintchris23"

MF: Michael Fordham, Kevin Sim, Dave Mansell, Chris Knight ("maybe" ), Tom Johnson

FW: Steve Grant, Scott Griffin, Alex Griffiths

FAO "Dr Who?", if you've got a couple of mates who fancy coming along, please feel free to invite them. Defenders are the main priority, I would say :toppa: Also, can't remember what position you said you play, so I've put you in midfield for now, obviously if that's wrong please let me know!

Rabbit has confirmed, inasmuch as he said "Padu ?" to me a few mins ago and offered to drive the Golf Cart up there.

I'll find out at 5-a-side on Monday if I'm fit enough to play.

Shotgun bagsie number 9, anyway. :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If you're coming too, I'll drive, as the Golf Cart does not have sufficient Lung capacity. You have to realise that unless you actually pitch up at my house with kit, we will assume you're not turning up.

3G pitches are great, but a word of warning for everyone - had a pre-season friendly on one a few years back and I thought I could get away with wering moulded studs. It was a dry day and the next day I woke up with plantar fasciitis which took me two months to shift (and I think that was quick from what I read) so definitely going to wear fives boots for the game.

I've played a few 90s in FG boots on 3G with no problems, will probably take both astro trainers and FGs just in case.

Anywhere in midfield is fine by me. Passing being my strength, get the ball and give it to someone else ASAP, then rest. ;) I will ask a couple of mates tomorrow, they will be up for it, if not busy.

Squad update after a couple of withdrawals:

GK: Chris Summers

DF: Matt Marchant, Dan Armstrong, Mick McIntyre, Joe Menzies, Chris Bulpitt

MF: Michael Fordham, Kevin Sim (+1/2?), Tom Johnson

FW: Steve Grant, Scott Griffin, Alex Griffiths

So potentially 15 if everyone shows up, that's about right I reckon.

Also, if anyone fancies a weekend playing football in July (Friday 19th to Sunday 21st) in Preston, please let me know. We could do with a few more players for a tournament up there. :toppa:

Passed my "fitness test" on Monday (ish), in negotiations with Dan re: lift following Rabbit's shocking defection to "not going", the training I was going to tonight has just been cancelled, so the one opportunity to get injured beforehand has gone and it looks like I'm still intact. Huzzah!

Shotgunning bagsy number 9 again just in case.

FAO Chris and Tom, as you've only got Registered User status I can't PM you... are the email addresses you registered with active? If so, I'll drop you a line there...

Can you rig us some lower league southern clubs in the WorldNET group please Steve ? Exeter will do nicely, maybe Gillingham if they have a team. Try to avoid Arsenal Nigeria, especially if we're a bit short of players. And if we get Preston I'm going to kick Summers.
