Glad to see Adkins isn't in there considering he's already relegated one club from the Premier League this Season.

I still find that a very strange appointment, sack a Manager in McDermott and then replace him with a worse manager.

He really wasnt that bad and will improve, he wasnt the man for us going forward, and poch was available.

I personally think it was shrewd, Reading were down anyway and I think Adkins can bring them back up

Personally think Nige is a better manager than Mcdermott, and will play better football. So can see the logic behind them signing him. We were on for staying up when he left, and bought relatively well, so see no reason why he won't do a good job there next season. He can install the passion and positivity needed to get the momentum for them.

Some of the credit, not all.

come on mate - its his team + his points + form passed over that has kept us up. Give credit where credit is due mate

So you are saying he deserves all of the credit?

It is a combination of Cortese, Reed, the scouting department, the medical department, the academy, Adkins, Pochettino, the old and current coaching staff and the players that have kept us up. Not just Nigel Adkins.

Exactly, plus got him in early to make a judgement of what he needs next year, which I suggest to be a whole new spine and a decent LB to sub onto the pitch for your starting left back at 60 minutes or so

Have they got any young keepers to throw in completely out of their depth? Luckily this season he can use to find out who his best team is so that next season he knows not to play his best lineup every week. Especially those players who are vital to the way they play.

He's a far better manager. McDermott did well but it was a run of good form that won them the league, not building an improving team that can play football. See it all the time at various clubs. Some teams are built for promotion, others are built for the future and gain promotion. Saints and WH were always going to be better equipped than the champions, same way Norwich and Swansea were better equipped than QPR.

I'd always rather have the long-term manager who can improve players and build a good passing side.

BUT, saying all that, stability is perhaps more important and it is odd to sack a man who could probably take you back up. Can only imagine their new board just wanted to punish someone for the relegation.

Potentially you could say that our Season in the Championship was just continued good form from League 1, could you not?

In all honesty I liked Adkins, thought he did a cracking job and was annoyed that he was sacked in the middle of our best run of the Season, but I can't see that if McDermott had spent £30m on his team that he wouldn't have done at least as well as Adkins. I think Adkins was woefully out of his depth in the Premiership, thinking he could go into games trying to be clever and not playing his strongest side.

Different opinion on NA and dont fancy a long debate on it but McDermott's signing at reading when they came up hardly set the world alight. That and Adkins didnt spend £30mil, the tranfer comittee did ;) For all we know Adkins had to get on wikipedia when Mayuka turned up ...

What an utterly weird list. Where they got some of those names from I'll never know. Robbie Fowler?!

it's just a random selection of names to entice fools to part with their money. You know like offering 80/1 on Saints being relegated knowing full well that they'd find a couple of pantswetters to wager a tenner or so in case it made them feel more secure.

Bookies should be disbanded for preying on the weak minded.

just stuck a tenner on Les Ferdinand at 66/1.

Like stealing lollies from a baby.

I'll be quids in.

you could have tried a double, relegation and Les Ferdinand as next permanent manager, odds would be what in the 10,000/1, in case that happened you could retire to the Bahamas and not have to watch Saints at all.

Remember that Icelandic bloke that idiot punters shovelled shedloads of cash on when Pearson got the job, just a random name to confuse idiots.
