Turkish Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 I didn't say it was the same, just pointing out that to say they "play with far, far more pace than we do" is an exaggeration. Well considering we were talking about wingers and you've simply listed the quick players in our squad, one player who has hardly played and another whose main success when running at people had come down the middle to support you argument and Spurs have Lennon, Bale and Defoe who have real pace that start regularly, so I make that 3 v 1, so yes, they play with far, far more pace than us. Poor effort even by your standards Mr Wrong.

shurlock Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 I didn't say it was the same, just pointing out that to say they "play with far, far more pace than we do" is an exaggeration. Do you actually watch us play -or are you too busy trying to be proven right to the point where you happily engage in outright bulls**t. Incegate anyone? Do you actually take an interest in how our team plays in the real world, not in PC fantasia and where we might need to strengthen. If you have watched us this season and last, you'll know we're crying out for quality pace. We've tried to replace Oxo and repeatedly failed (Jrod is a start but he doesn't slot seamlessly into our formation). You'll also know that only Clyne regularly uses pace to beat a man so much so that in recent weeks, it's become surreal that we're relying on a defender to create chances and we've looked very pedestrian whenever Lambert isn't performing and/or we're not winning the ball high up the pitch. You'll also know that Spurs have pacey and powerful centre forwards that can lead the line (the lynchpin of a lot of teams) -the same cannot be said of Lambert regardless of his other qualities. Otherwise, please pipe down you tit.

Very tempted to put you on my ignore list. Therr really is no point in me quoting the original post as you have already hit the edit button but it was pretty obvious that Turks was discussing wingers and the fact ours rarely beat a man outside to deliver a cross the same as a winger would. Saints simply dont, Mayuka doesnt play (and when he does is v dissapointing) and J Rod isnt a bloody winger, yeah he can beat a man out wide but he more often then not drives inside. I have rarely seen any real crosses come in either from our wide midfielders, this is usually done by the fullbacks and the wide men drift inside. Lallana isnt a winger wither, nor is punch, more inside forwards and neither have the pace of Lennon or bale. Basically you have jumped two feet into an arguement without actually comprehending what was being said. I do hope you give your kids a little bit more of your time to think about things before jumping up and down with the Im the teacher Im right crap

His record is poor, failure at Chelsea and now struggling its Tottenham despite having the best player in the league and an excellent squad already there. Disgusting comments from an arrogant, overrated manager whose methods are not suited to the English game" "Yeah we've got tons of style compared to that terrible Chelsea team with Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard, Luiz etc" Sounds like some bashing there to me. Or are tou just being a tad OTT as usual ? I disagree. Pretty sure he meant it as in some regards it is true. They are lower then they were this time last year and have relied on one player just to keep them in the hunt for a CL spot. So you could say he isn't doing as well as twitchy did. But it highlights the point I was making which was that someone comes out and praises us and it turns into a negative thread. You may call that irony I call it trolling. And the second part, didn't we beat them at home and draw with them at their place? Maybe they have more style then us but ours meant we got more points against them with a seriously inferior team as we didn't have Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Lampard, Luiz etc. But hey maybe I am being OTT

St Marco Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Never heard of sarcasm? I have. "Sarcasm is a way of speaking in which what is said is the opposite of what is meant" But that would indicate that the opposite of what he said was true. Which would mean "His record is poor" turns into his record is good. Which is debatable (in England). " failure at Chelsea" would turn into success at Chelsea, which was not quite right was it? "struggling at Tottenham despite having the best player in the league" would mean he is doing great at Spurs which again would be debatable as again they are lower then they were. So is that really sarcasm or just another attempt at getting people to bite?

Smirking_Saint Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 He isnt really struggling with spurs though is he ? He spent a part of the season without any strikers, and then a lot of it with just the useless Adebeyor. He still has managed to push them to within a CL spot which is, and always has been a massive achievement, such is the top fours dominance on those four positions. Harry, despite the criticism he gets on here done an equally good job with Spurs so you cant rake tgat away from either of them. He did v well at Porto and I thought was doing ok at Chelsea until they decided his face didnt fit, ok, he tried too much too soon but he was asked to breathe fresh life inti the squad and then was hung, drawn and quartered for doing it. Given time he woud have been ok and was it not for RDM's CL win it woukd have been a poor season for Chelsea, as it will be this year for me even if the win the Uefa Cup. As per Mata, Hazard etc we played well and beat them, we also lost to QPR and Sunderland, thats football. Chelseas front line is still for me the best in the PL despite Rafa doing his best to make them look average. Regardless though, it was sarcasm aimed at the constant din that eminates from this place from time to time, words in the media are skewed dependant on your agenda and then we get nonsense like Welbeck is crap, carrick is crap, AVB is a poor manager etc etc only for them to be proven wrong after a few months and then completely ignore that fact that they wrote them off in the first place. Anyway, rant over, it was Sarcasm get over it

He is very good and you can see that the players really like him what he has done with bale this season is excellent shame for him that Levy would not release the required funds to get a striker in jan when they clearly needed one. Then again, money at Spurs is not in endless supply They Lost this season King - retired Van der Vaart - sold Modric - Sold Kaboul - Injured all season Sandro - injured half a season Lennon - injured for ages Parker - injured for ages Defoe - out for a fair few weeks Dembele - injured for a while that is a huge list of serious players taken away from him you will get the likes of adrian durham on talksport laying into him and the arry loving media saying he is crap when he really isnt

Tokyo-Saint Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Spurs are a good side with a good manager. To conclude, they have wingers who can take people on the outside and get a ball into the box from the by line or cut it back. We don't, the closest we have is Steve De Ridder who is fast but not able to do the other footbally bits. I am sure we will address this in the summer, maybe that Dutch guy. Until then MLG can just pretend we have the players to do that.
