Glasgow_Saint Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 Stoke win makes them safe and leaves sunderland in the ****. Also means Stoke arent fighting for life last game of season How the **** has it come to this!!! Mess
Saint Charlie Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 1. Stoke win 2 Sunderland win 3. Draw Based on remaining fixtures this would best. Stoke have Spurs then Saints so if they lost we could overhaul them with a decent result. Point helps both teams towards safety.

Turkish Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 Surely people would want Sunderland to win? This would keep Stoke in our sights and we all want to finish as high as possible its a given that we will romp to a midtable finish so best the teams above us lose and the ones below us win. SaintBobby Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 Today's results could hardly have been worse. The chances of relegation are tiny - but I'm looking downwards not upwards at the moment. Stoke win and lots of red cards please.

Dr. Kucho Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 If we beat Sunderland and Stoke, and results go our way we could finish 9th! Hope Schneiderlin and Yoshida are back for this game, a fully fit squad should be able to get atleast a point at the Stadium of Light.

This would keep Stoke in our sights and we all want to finish as high as possible its a given that we will romp to a midtable finish so best the teams above us lose and the ones below us win. This. I think we need to remind ourselves that before the game yesterday we had lost one game in 7. WBA was indeed a poor game (a touch of over confidence perhaps) but that aside we've played good football both attacking and defensively. We were back to our best yesterday and held them every step of the way only to be beaten on the line by a class goal. But rather than try and be devisive I think we can all agree the real target is for us to get 6 points from the last two games and sod the others. I think Sunderland is definitely winnable and my theory will be proved (or disproved!) Monday night. I do not think Di Canio is a good manager. He lifted them with boyish enthusiasm and lots of cliches. That got them a couple of wins but he will soon get found out. The players will realise there's no substance behind the rhetoric and will be back to their usual level. He will respond with bullying and that wil **** them off. The first signs were there against villa I think.
DuncanRG Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 I dunno, I'm glad that we weren't the next fixture after Villa. I expect there's gonna be a big reaction from their players, though I expected that from Newcastle yesterday as well...

Everyone is catching us and Sunderland being desperate to beat us won't necessarily help them We need us and Stoke only needing a point or Stoke safe last day. My nerves aren't going to take Stoke bunging long throws and piling corners and free kicks into our box as the desperately search for a winner. A nice little re run of the Spurs game from 1978 will do me.

DuncanRG Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 Horrendous goal but I'll take it! And I bet Stoke will as well. Sunderland's team is properly threadbare at the moment - only player on their bench with anything resembling PL quality is Phil Bardsley. Any more injuries or suspensions from this game and we've got no excuse not to get a result. Bugger Do we not want a Stoke goal? DuncanRG Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 I doubt it matters, they won't feel safe even if they win tonight. And besides, they bottled a pretty huge game last week and lost 6-1 - just cause they're desperate for points doesn't mean we can't get a result
trousers Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 I doubt it matters, they won't feel safe even if they win tonight. Surely they'll feel safer on 40 points than 37 points? S-Clarke Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 If Stoke win today then our game turns into a must win for Sunderland I don't think it changes it either way, to be honest. If Sunderland win tonight, then by the time they play us they're possible still only 2 points clear...and are away at Spurs on the final day. So they'll still need to win and probably ''have'' to win. If they lose tonight, it plunges a team below us into even more trouble than we are - with only 2 games left. Can only be a positive. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 Considered it all briefly and there are loads of advantages and disadvantages to all results - I can't see a real preference from a Saints perspective other than a card-fest and lots of injuries, which aren't likely.
