Griffo Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 I'm normally the first to moan about our support but today it was very good. This is how it feels to be Pompey, This is how it feels to be small, You sign Whittingham, We sign Pochettino, Pochettino, Pochettino..
Appy Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 Probably our best support of the season, along with the second half at Fulham, but this was for almost 90 minutes. Lower tier was very good, all stood.

SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 As someone who lives up north and therefore rarely gets to a home game - only matches away, I can assure you that our away support is generally excellent. What some of you were discovering is how much better our support is away from home than it is at home. I think the reason for this is that it is generally the more (openly) passionate supporters who make the effort to travel to away games and so you get a whole load of them crammed together and together they make a great noise. At home it is very different as the noisy support is diluted by those that are quieter supporters - who may be just as passionate (before I get criticized for suggesting any different!) but express their support in a less openly passionate way. I think you will find that this is a common trait amongst football supporters with away fans frequently out-singing the home fans, or certainly appearing to do so. red&white56 Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 (edited) Lower tier was awesome. We even sang at half time (probably linked to the fact that there was no alcohol on sell at half time). Edited 4 May, 2013 by red&white56

pingwing Posted 4 May, 2013 Share Posted 4 May, 2013 Over on the right of the upper tier we were MADE to sit (including some idiot who tried to tell me how swapping seats wasn't a viable option if he didn't want someone standing in front of him...) Still a great showing by us all for this one, good songs, the only atmosphere was from us and generally good fun at probably one of the better grounds in the league. ericb Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 Thought the atmosphere from us yesterday was absolutely superb, in fact i had a mate who's a yid and he texted me from the home end saying how good our fans were "one of the best sets to come to WHL", was all the way from liverpool st to the ground too. Only downside were a bunch of dicks trying to kick off after the game and one bizarre guy who decided to sing about UKIP for the whole match. Fu.ck knows what he was on but alongside that and his foreskin efforts he was a truly embarrassing gimp!
Bensfcno1 Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 Always have been good away from home and In Northam at home and when winning. Just need to replicate this everywhere else at St Mary's when backs against the walls! COYR!
Grey Crab Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 I agree - Saints have the best supporters! I have watched EVERY SINGLE GAME this season on stream online, even when I was at a family wedding (used hotel Wi-Fi on my iPad)! That's dedication! Lord Duckhunter Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 I thought the support was great. I was amazes just how terrible Spurs support was, I felt they were a bit embarrassed about singing OWTS as they would have got drowned out as well as laughed at. My little lad was disappointed with the atmosphere at Aresnal and Liverpool and I told him that Spurs would be different, they weren't they were just as bad. Away support at SMS has been pretty decent but these Premiership clubs home support is awful. We're going to have to award ourselves the "Bestest" tag soon, my mate who is a Spurs supporter texted "unlucky today, but it's about 3 points . Great support". One tiny little gripe. The support was fantastic even at the final whistle, I think everyone acknowledged the fantastic effort the players put in. I know they were disappointed, but felt the players and MP could have been a bit more acknowledging of that support.
Ohio Saint Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 I had to ask on the matchday thread who was singing OWTS. It was very loud, and good too......But it sounded like they were sing "saints' That could not have been right surely!

Bensfcno1 Posted 5 May, 2013 Share Posted 5 May, 2013 Keep up, the Northam's been a dead duck for at least 2 seasons now. So where is better? I moved this year to Block 2, after hearing amazing things, all I hear at games is the away fans, the Northam and at times myself.
ericb Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 Looks like we're not the only ones who thought we were decent (taken from the spurs forum http://www.thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/spurs-v-saints.5449/page-36) As for their fans, respect......I was very supprised with their allocation and surprised just how great they were, non-stop all game, even during halftime! Trying hard to think of a better away support in the prem this season??? Of course i'm sure that can't be true as we're not the bestest are we
