Thought that was a great effort

we lost not for any defensive cock ups, but for poor finishing

we should have gone in HT at least 1-0 up. Clyne missed an absolute sitter really

nothing you can really do about bale, one of the best players in the world right now and goals like that are the reason

if wigan beat swansea tuesday, I am worried. Right now, NO as Newcastle, Norwich and sunderland are crap

We lost this game with our poor final ball and finishing. Lallana's free kicks were dreadful, lambert cant buy a goal at mo. Cork and steven davis panicked with possesion in the final 20 mins when a calm head was needed. We are in deep trouble now I fear. Congrats for nigel on your'e first win. 0 goals for 3 games isnt good enough.

Absolutely inevitable from the moment the game kicked off. Good play from Saints, good possession - waste a couple of chances and then concede a goal like that from the only person it could possibly have been.

Is anybody else slightly worried that for the last 3 games we haven't really looked capable of scoring?

Had to be him didn't it? Bt let me ask you......was he man of the match? Was he ****! Huddlestone was brilliant for them. Hard to call MOM for us. Gutted didn't deserve it lose but could see a goal coming.

Played very very well. Should have taken the lead if we'd had a bit more in the final third. Same story as a lot of our games this season. Won in the end by one moment from Bale. But I am definitely more concerned after 2 defeats in a row. Can't see us beating Sunderland.. we could easily be staring at 4 straight defeats to end the season. Should be safe .. but Wigan and Villa are fighting.

I am worried BUT if we play like that against Sunderland and Stoke we will get some points. A very good performance without Morgan in a game I thought we'd get spanked in.

2 weeks in a row West Brom have shafted us. If they can get ANY kind of results next week at Norwich that should see us safe.

Played excellently today overall. Bale scores a cracking goal while making his old team sweat it out more in the relegation fight. If Wigan win game in hand then it could be us in the bottom 3 come the end of the seaon. Nervous times ahead!

Robbed.

No way we deserved to lose that, great hit but one of the CM's should have been across to block it.

Bad set of results today. Michu probably out of the Wigan game and it's looking a bit grim. Just hope that a better WBA than today turn up at Carrow road next week.

All eyes on Il Duce /Stoke now.

We didnt deserve to lose, draw would have been a fair result.

Thought all the players did well and good to see Fonte back. If we play like this against Sunderland and Stoke we should be allright.

Anyone know how serious Schneiderlin's injury is? (though Guly did have a good game)

To be fair, so did Lallana.

Played well. Then gifted the opposition a goal by allowing the best let footed player in the world to come inside onto er his left foot, from where he has scored all season.

Shame, we deserved more. Lesson for Shaw.

Steve Mac said it on espn and im inclined to agree, shaw was inevitably going to be beaten for pace at least once by bale, he made it difficult for him but there was no second man. Mayuka was close by but stopped running whereas Rodriguez HAD been getting back and getting a foot in.

Am I worried? Damned right! However if we play like that against sunderland and stoke with morgan back to pick out a few more of the runs we should be ok!

It was never going to be easy, but we must keep the faith. We didn't deserve to get beat today and with other results going against us we are right back in the mix. Our sudden loss of the ability to stick it in the back of the net worries me, but it is still in our hands.

Didn't take our chances, Spurs were ****e then Gareth Bale had a chance and won the game.

Thought we lost the midfield when Guly went off injured.

Shaw let him get away from him far too easily for the goal, it must be said.

Jos 7

Shaw 6

Cork 6

Davis 7

Not really. It was a bouncing ball and he did well to hit it as sweetly as he did, but for a LB I wouldn't say it was a 'sitter'.

Not a bad performance but unfortunately not an entirely unexpected result.

Our situation is the same as last week, we need another win from 2 games.

Sunderland(a) isn't going to be easy but we have to try and get the win.

Oh, and could all those on here waffling on about us being safe just STFU please.

Wait until it's (hopefully) mathematically certain.

I also think that a point will not make any difference as Wigan will need 2 wins to over take us if we have 39 or 40 and they get the 2 wins we will be below them. Win at Sunderland is what we need simples.

Also if Norwich do not WIN next week, they will not end about us as it stands.

Difference in world class players. Bale gets nothing from Clyne all game so switches across to roast a young left back and succeeds.

No disgrace - Shaw could easily be as good as Bale in a year or two.

We played really well. Deserved a draw.

I think all Saints players had a fair game. Guly played well.

We didn't look so good once Adam went off. Lost that little creative touch.

Away to Sunderland will be a massive gane now

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I reckon it's time we dropped Lambert.

He's been off the boil for quite a while now and when he doesn't play well, not only do we struggle to score, we struggle to create any decent chances at all.

Still quite a few results would have to go against us to get relegated including our own games. Today we looked pretty comfortable throughout. Just needed a moment of brilliance to foil us. We hit the post and should have had a couple more. We play like that and we can get 6 points from the final 2 games. Let's be positive.

thought our back four were terrific. Clyne looked the best player on the park for me again. Apart from one poor pass and the miss he hardly out a foot wrong. Fonte and Jos have come in for a lot of stick but Defoe didn't have a sniff. Why Yoshida gets in ahead if Fonte I wilk never know. Shaw looked a little rusty and his pace was nullified by Walker, but we just look far more comfortable with him in the side. I don't blame him for the goal. He just couldn't get close enough to Bale, who had done **** all, and having gone all the way across there must have been someone to step in. Perhaps Jos coukd have stepped up but Bale hit it so early.

We played well, and were unfortunate not to score. Lallana's season has been disappointing. End of.

In the end I felt we became a bit too deep and speculative and someone's sheer quality decided.

I hope Wigan's rally backfires on them next Tuesday as an angry Swansea want to keep their top 10 finish hopes alive.

Agree for the most part though i'd be tempted to give lallana a six, caused some problems and offered something just still needs to find his shooting boots, his touch over vertonghen was genuinely le tiss esque the finish however was far from.

Davis, Fonte or Clyne for motm. All played their part and looked positive apart from Clyne's miss. Sentiment says Fonte as it was great to see him back and proving the doubters but I think it has to be Davis for stepping into a midfield without Morgan.

Special mention to Guly, looked lively, few good ideas and touches almost created ur best chances and was not afraid to get stuck in. Would love to see him get another crack against sunderland if im honest with Punch out of favour and ramirez out.

Who put Clyne thro' for his chance? who hit the post from a free kick?

If Puncheon had been on in the first half instead of that waster Lallana, we'd have taken advantage of Spurs and scored goals when they were half asleep. It's tragic Pochettino keeps picking Lallana to uninspire the team. Worse Saints Captain in my 64 years of supporting Saints.
