Mauricio Pochettino: The Argentine at Southampton with big plans

I am indeed. What a breath of fresh air. I hope they come off.

I just wonder if MP knows that Vectis Saint will be so angry with him for breaking the perceived wisdom that transfers are only allowed in the last couple of days of August

Absolutely, we will be following the path trodden by Manutd last summer, oh no wait a minute they did their deals 2 weeks before the window closed. Instead we will do exactly waht we did last season whenwe signed JRod early and also signed 3 more players in mid July. Will still be interesting to see if these signings actually take place before end June, not forgetting of course that the new season starts much earlier this year and so a lot of activity will happen a bit earlier. Still I bet that less than 15% of transfers into the PL will happen in June so will be about the same as last year. But Alps of course will not be influenced by any reference to facts. 17 PL transfers in during the first month of last season, 6 of which were to QPR, the very model of good transfer dealings.

Enjoy Alps, whatever happens you will still moan. ;) Please let me know where I said anything about all transfers taking place in last 2 days.

Two things struck me from that article; Players need two lungs - hence why we looked knackered on Saturday; Cortese calls him 4 times a day - Have you arrived? Is everyone there? Has anyone been injured? Is Guly OK?

Spanish Armada on its way then.

or maybe two Argentians? Tevez, Aguero, Zabeleta? Not I hope Gutiérrez & Coloccini

Sorry Alpine, but signing these players before we are safe is tempting fate. It is a bloody disgrace in fact.

You're a one to talk. Don't tell me you have suddenly converted to the 'relax we are safe' brigade.

Oh Dalek. What a card you are. Your little skits get funnier and funnier.

This forum would be a much poorer place without your ham-fisted one-joke routines, that's for sure.

Do the yo-yo stuff again!

I agree. I remember in 1984 when we finished second and had fantastic young team packed full of internationals scoring goals for fun. When my dad took me to the club shop one bright Spring morning that year with th intention of buying a Patrick cagoule and perhaps a couple of posters for my bedroom of my favourite players, Peter Shilton, Mark Dennis, Steve Moran, Danny Wallace etc, I told him I wasn't interested. The poster I wanted on my wall was of Then chairman Alan Woodford as without him none of this would be possible. That season my dreams of becoming proffesional footballer died out, I wanted to be a chairman. In the playground at school whilst the other kids were pretending to be Saints, Man united and Liverpool players, playing football, I'd be sat on the benches, watching the game in my trench coat, pretending to be,y hero counting my pennies wondering if Andy Charlton from the U9s playing with his age group on the pitch next to us would drop down an age group if I offered to give him 20p a week.

Amusing post - I couldn't care less who the Chairman is I just want to watch the Footie.
