Stripes next season.

I think its one of the cheapest and tackiest we've ever had. The logo is just a stuck on label; it looks terribly naff on the home kit, it looked absolutely appalling on the white kit as the label was off white. The less said about the away kit, the better.

Rank Xerox kit next season would be my choice, but I doubt it'll happen. Wouldn't be surprised if we stayed away from stripes for another year, unfortunately. This season's kits were rubbish in my view; sometime I buy the kit for 5 a side (I still often wear the sash) but no way was I going buy either of this year's shirts, they're awful.

Which kit are you talking about? And which logo? All logos look stuck on. Sponsors control the rights to make them predominate, There is nothing we can do about that. For what it is worth, there is more of a design problem applying any logo onto a bold red and white stripe than a background which is mainly one colour.

I would agree that the aap logo would have looked better if it were simply white against red background instead of the current black with white outline against the red background. That would have been better. Aesthetically simplicity works best.

Meanwhile I am very happy singing 'Come on you reds' which is what we are wearing.

The 2012-13 red home strip and white away strip. Its a massive label that is just stuck on the front. Check some other bigger clubs that Umbro have produced for, and the logos are either printed on or the method of affixing them is a lot smarter. We started a trend of having massive stuck on logos with the flybe shirts a while back (the stuck-on logo of those often weren't fixed properly so they didn't quite match the edge of the white stripe they were supposed to match up to and just looked horrendous). Sadly that trend has continued and the shirts continue to look cheap and nasty; especially the white one.

I don't think its the background that's all the problem. It's having a bloody massive logo just stuck on a shirt. Tottenham has a similar shape logo to us when they were sponsored by Thomson, they didn't have to resort to plastering a whopping great logo onto a generic shirt.

So we're not talking about the kit, just the logo, and I quite agree with you there. aap3 got a good deal in getting theirs so huge on the front. And I don't like the tacky stuck on technique and definitely prefer integral printing with better alignment. (I agree that the Flybe logo did not align at all well with the stripes.) I too wish aap3 was more discreet. That is (probably) out of our hands, even if fans got up an enormous petition. I have to say that the sanserif type face is not bad, Just the way it has been printed boldy in black with white outlining. Smaller and white out of background shirt colour would be better.

On the matter of a logo on a striped shirt the best result would be to have a wide panel in front to contain the whole logo, as we have done in the past. It never looks good over red and white stripes. It is almost illegible if printed in black over stripes, which is why we end up having the logo on a 'stuck on' lookng white horizontal panel over the red and white stripe, whatever the printing method. So messy.
