For those doubters: Forren

Monk

Recommended Posts

Sounds like something the coaching staff of an under 12's team might come up with

Really dont understand why you are having so much trouble figuring this out TBH, nor do I get why you are getting so ****y about it.

Forren has just come into the club after a decent lay off between seasons abroad, he probably isnt up to scratch and Id imagine that the standard over there is lower than here anyway so fitness and sharpness may have been lower BEFORE the break. If Fonte cant find his way back into a side who apart from Saturday have been performing ok (ok Jos worries me but tgats just my opinion) then why would they chuck someone in right now ?

Care to explain why your do forceful in the knowledge that it wouldnt happen the way Monk is suggesting ? Or are you predisposed to just act like a bit of a tit ?

In fact I think it would be reasonable to say tht the modern PL has depassed the physical condition of your average European footballer. Gaston wasn't fit enough, Forren neither but it will come. Remember at the start of the season even Super fit Saints didn't last much more than 65/70 minutes against the steamrollers of the PL. It's why you need a homogenous squad, 25 players of PL quality and not 14 or 15 and 10 hangers on. We have seen this season that our "squad players" just weren't up to scratch when called upon or were just too insufficient to even be called upon.

Exactly, and in fact you can see that the sheer amount of African imports these days prove that Athleticism is high on the agenda of ehat is needed for a footballing thoroughbred as opposed even to technical ability.

Now I am not saying that technique is a thing of the past, it really isnt, but what with the pace and power of the prem these days you need to be physically stronger and quicker then perhaps you ever did and more so then the technical game which is played more often abroad.

Whats the point of beating two players if you dont have the legs to get away or strength to hold off ? That is also the case in a defensive point of view, you could be the best man marker of a generation but without sufficient strength or pace you'll probably still be found wanting 50% of the time.

For your delectation, the ******** that is ClubCall states Forren has the arse on because he's been overlooked for Norway.

Rip into this as you wish...

no smoke without fire and all that! He can't exactly be over the moon that he hasn't been involved in a single game must be wondering why the hell he signed for us

Unless he was told when he signed that he wouldn't play much of a part this season.

You think he'd be happy knowing he'd be writing off his place in his national squad which he's only recently won? The idea that the whole Forren signing is some ingenious plan, part of the "Southampton Way" is nuts.

If he was getting a big pay rise and the chance to live in Southampton then yes, I can see it.

We're not going to know that until the first game of next season for sure.

Are there any other examples we could use as a benchmark? Whereby a mid 20s international has signed for a PL club for around £3M, not played in half a season (despite being fit enough to sit on teh bench and be available as a substitute), but then come good?

Personally can't think of any off hand; but that's not to say they don't exist.

See my post above re Delgado, although I'm not sure that he meets the eventually 'coming good' qualification, despite one good game against Arsenal, and scoring (with the ball coming off his arse as he lay on the ground).

I can find one of a 37 year old, he was a free though. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1342326/carlo-ancelotti-confirms-david-beckham-to-wait-for-psg-debut-?cc=5739

How about Hugo Lloris ? 26, signed for £8m admittedly, in August transfer window, Prem debut 7th October (ok only 5 weeks), 2nd Prem match 17th November (2.5 months after signing). He played a few Europa League games, but he wasn't first choice or starting until that second game.

Probably just spreading the appearance bonuses out in the case of Lloris. Aulas is a c*nt to deal with, will do anything for a quick buck. Why he didn"t sign one of France's rising stars (Corchia RB) for a matter of 200K more than initially agreed. Most in france think we've paid way over the odds for Lovren but I'm sure that he'll prove them wrong but Aulas is a man you don't want to have too many dealings with, buy em cheap, pile em high sell them dear is his motto.

I'm hearing we didn't have choice bout this cos he had release clause in contract if a Champions League club come in for him. Coupled with 50% sell-on clause molde got on original sale this is been v.productive transfer deal for norwegian giants.

Oops, I've been "Billy Sharped". Ok, make that "until we sell him to someone else without him kicking a ball". In my defence I don't think many of us thought he'd get sold after 6 months without even kicking a ball for the first team AND I've never actually said I thought he was going to. ;)
