Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Spent the day at Staplewood today along side one of the first team technical staff. From what I saw today, Forren is going to be a massive part of our defensive pairing next season. As for lack of action at the moment, my own personal opinion is Poch does not want to disrupt the CB pairing until his hand is forced (3-0 to WBA joke didnt go down well). MP and staff very friendly as are our players. Resisted calling Fox a cvnt.
trousers Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If he's that good (which I don't doubt) then the WBA result gives MP the ideal 'excuse' to play him vs Spurs IMO. It's a game that most people don't expect us to win so 'nothing to lose' IMHO of course

Monk seems to have been impressed, and if he is meant to be a big part of a defensive pair for next season, yet is not being played, then is the assumption on my part that he may therefore be playing alongside a player not already with us a bit far fetched? Could this be why he isn't playing, out of a perceived need not to blood him alongside a partner he won't need to get used to? Edited 29 April, 2013 by Colinjb
Saint Charlie Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Appreciate the snippet. Would be good to know a little about what you saw?
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 Watched a bit of training, Spurds draw in the u21's and then spent some time in analysis which had an Astori dvd file there!
ToreSF Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Was a piece on him on norwegian telly the other day. Said he was instructed to build more muscles before he could play for the first team.
Saint Charlie Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Watched a bit of training, Spurds draw in the u21's and then spent some time in analysis which had an Astori dvd file there! Anything interesting from the training? What was good about Forren?

VectisSaint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Resisted calling Fox a cvnt. Good idea, would have been a bit of an insult to cvnts. Did Forren appear to have any pace? Always looks slow to me when I have seen him for u21s and even in warm ups. Good to hear that he may be better than he has looked so far.
ART Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Any news on Shaw btw...? It was stated that he is likely to miss our game at Totteringham on Talksport today several times.
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 Did not see Luke anywhere today. In the small sided game, Forren played alongside Maya. Plays the ball very well and uses our passing game to his advantage and goes on these mazey runs like Rio does but had end product. Was up against Mayuka today. I wondered if it had anything to do with Defoe.
studentsaint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 From what I have seen of forren he is technically good and comfortable on the ball which suits us. I've also seen these mazey runs you mention, brings it into midfield and does muh more than hoidveld with the ball. Left footed, how tall is he as I have an idea that he's short which would make us vulnerable alongside yoshi?
BlakeySFC Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 So the plan is to 'bed' Forren into English life, get to know the players etc. next month and then he'll forge a partnership with Yoshida/David Astori next season and Fonte and Hooiveld will be back-up CBs I assume? Just hope Yoshida/Forren will stay if we go down.
View From The Top Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Just hope Yoshida/Forren will stay if we go down. You're as fu.cking tedious as Dalek and that's some achievement.
BlakeySFC Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 You're as fu.cking tedious as Dalek and that's some achievement. Just my point of view, it's what a public forum such as this one is for.
Downthe36 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Just my point of view, it's what a public forum such as this one is for. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/relegation 200/1 - Lump on it and post your betting slip, or you must be a WUM.

Chewy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Just my point of view, it's what a public forum such as this one is for. Indeed it is public, so if you choose to publicise your idiotic drivel, you can't really complain when someone points it out.
S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I'm amazed that some people have formed the opinion he is crap, based on absolutely nothing. Kind of learnt not to really read too much on here anymore, I mean the same people were writing Jay Rodriguez off earlier in the season after....2 weeks with us? Forren wasn't scouted by the likes of Everton and Liverpool for being ****, that's for sure.
UpweySaint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Woah calm down, he said IF. No harm in a bit of pessimism. Its far from likely but football is a funny game. Im 99% sure we'l stay up but until we get one more win or the next batch of results go in our favour I wont be popping champagne corks just yet Either way good to hear about Forren, would love to see him given a crack against spurs. Though if Forren is paired at cb it leaves open the whole "who's playing at lb" issue.

Dig Dig Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 You seriously think that he is not being played this season so as not to upset the current centre back pairing? Jeez. I think it's more about getting him ready for the physical demands of the Premier League

Even Fonte got a 5 minute meaningless cameo ahead of him on Saturday.

If we were talking about Nugent or Matt Taylor I would understand. But Fox although maybe not quite to Prem standard played a key role at the end of last season.

The standard of Interbational football can be pretty bad if you're playing European minnows in qualifiers etc. I can't recall who he has played against for Norway since signing for us though, anyone decent? From what his agent said the other day and based on what a few others have alluded to, we bought him as a ball playing CB but are soending time to improve his strength and stamina. If the lad can stay off the beer a bit, it might speed things up mind.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I think it's more about getting him ready for the physical demands of the Premier League The best way to do that would be to get some games under his belt

Saint Charlie Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Dig Dig if you stop inviting VF out for beers it might help!
Suhari Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Appreciate the info - glad you shared. Can you share more detail on how you believe he will be a massive part of the defensive paring next season? Did a member of staff say "Forren is going to be a massive part of our defensive pairing next season" or are you making an assumption having seen him play in a practice match alongside Maya? Genuine question this - I'm not being an arse.
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 You seriously think that he is not being played this season so as not to upset the current centre back pairing? Jeez. Yes, got that vibe from the coaching staff.
Turkish Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Yes, got that vibe from the coaching staff. You have to remember that a poster on an Internet forum talking about a player he's probably never seen or heard of until January would know more about how to integrate a centre half into the first team than an ex international centre half from a top footballing nation.

Clips from Norway fixtures being analysded against training and U21 clips.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Yes, got that vibe from the coaching staff. Sounds like something the coaching staff of an under 12's team might come up with
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 Sounds like something the coaching staff of an under 12's team might come up with I'll pass that on. Maybe if you inbox me your personal details I will see if they are interested in getting your feedback.

You are a poster on an internet forum who never heard of the guy until January. And you seem to think you know a lot more about football than most people who post on here. Do you big yourself up just to hide your sad little mediocre life from yourself or are you just a sad little mongboard *****?

S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Sounds like something the coaching staff of an under 12's team might come up with What has been wrong with the back 4 up until Saturday? Pretty solid, not many goals conceded, a few clean sheets. Pointless breaking it up. 1 defeat shouldn't change the entire belief. I still believe Jos and Maya are decent, obviously we can upgrade in the summer, but let's not forget their form prior to Saturday. I don't believe the coaching staff have.
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 (edited) Yes because they would really be interested in what you have to say... Why do you think I was there? Because I post on the SWF?? But Fox although maybe not quite to Prem standard played a key role at the end of last season. Let's get one thing straight here. Fox was not a key part of last year's team. He was terrible last year too it's just that we got away with it down in the Championship. Fox was and is and will always be terrible! It's mostly to do with his football brain, he didn't have one last year or this... To say he is 'not quite' premier standard is laughable.

It's mostly to do with his football brain, he didn't have one last year or this... To say he is 'not quite' premier standard is laughable. Utter drivel. Fox got plenty of assists last season and was at least competent defensively. Most teams in the league below would take him in a second. He's not a PL player, just as Billy Sharp, Dean Hammond, Richard Chaplow and Kelvin Davis aren't either. The difference is his only competition for a place is a 17 year old who has had some injuries, and therefore he plays in our team. He does not warrant the vicious comments on directed at him on here.
Monk Posted 29 April, 2013 Author Posted 29 April, 2013 I have my own personal agenda with Danny Fox, so don't need anybody on their high horse please.
saints-cris Posted 30 April, 2013 Posted 30 April, 2013 Thanks for the info, always like to hear about this kinda stuff.
