LGTL Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Luckily for them, Sunderland are going to get 6 or more points from their remaining games. Forget the 6-1, it doesn't matter!! Saintsweb logic is classic.
Cabrone Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Can see Wigan getting four points from their next two games. Wigan's next game is a biggie. Win at WBA and they will be well up to beat Swansea IMO. 38 points is quite possible in 2 games time. Let's just get another win in our 3 chances. We need to get rid of any complacency, get stuck in and put this one to bed ASAP.

Saintsweb logic is classic. So are Norwich, Villa, Newcastle and Wigan. And we will lose all of our games by 4 goal margins.
shirleysfc Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Have you forgotten the 2004 Glenn Hoddle saga ? Yes. What happened?
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Luckily for them, Sunderland are going to get 6 or more points from their remaining games. Forget the 6-1, it doesn't matter!! Saintsweb logic is classic. Exactly, what with wigan managing to pick up 12 points, sunderland and Newcastle grabbing 9 each, we should be fearful
kpturner Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Perusing the Sunderland forums is quite amusing - and the Geordies have never been so disappointed to see them lose
JackFrost Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If alpine and dalek are so worried about us going down why don't they stick 100 quid on us going down now, and potentially win 8-10 grand from the bookies?
The Kraken Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 According to Sky.... "No side in Premier League history has been relegated when 5 points clear with 3 games to play". Of course, Wigan have 4 games left to play, so its an entirely irrelevant statistic.
Bensfcno1 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 No team relegated when 5 points ahead of relegation zone with three to play. Could be only 4 if Wigan win game in hand though..... EEEEEEEK, could do with a point at WHL saturday please and or Wigan to loose at the Hawthorns. WBA prob wont turn up for that one after steam rolling us.
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Exactly, what with wigan managing to pick up 12 points, sunderland and Newcastle grabbing 9 each, we should be fearful It could happen. I mean, who thought we would beat Man City and Chelski. Football is a funny old game.
Chewy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Seriously, how can we be unless you really believe Wigan are about to collapse. Collapse??? 32 points in 34 games and not thinking they'll get 8 points in 4 constitutes a collapse?
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If alpine and dalek are so worried about us going down why don't they stick 100 quid on us going down now, and potentially win 8-10 grand from the bookies? Hmmmm. A good idea.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If alpine and dalek are so worried about us going down why don't they stick 100 quid on us going down now, and potentially win 8-10 grand from the bookies? Because they dont actually believe it ?
alpine_saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Because they dont actually believe it ? Nope. Just never bet against my team as a matter of principle.
S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Nope. Just never bet against my team as a matter of principle. But you continuously run them down, as a matter of principle.
alpine_saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 But you continuously run them down, as a matter of principle. I run them down when they, in my opinion, deserve it.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Nope. Just never bet against my team as a matter of principle. But your happy to write and slag them off at every oppurtunity ? And do your best to make everybody share your pessimism ?
Um Bongo Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 We are safe. We will win one of our remaining games. Maybe even a draw on Saturday. Stop panicking.
alpine_saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 But your happy to write and slag them off at every oppurtunity ? And do your best to make everybody share your pessimism ? Of course I do I do hope this is proving therapeutic...
Saint_Ash Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 New manager syndrome wearing off for Sunderland, they'll be lucky to get many more points. Newcastle are perilously close to the brink in my opinion, tough games for them remaining. We have no worries whatsoever. People who think all the teams below us will win whilst we lose every game are all a bit soft if you ask me!
shirleysfc Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Betfair's current relegations odds: Wigan - 1.48 Aston Villa - 9.4 Newcastle - 8.8 Norwich - 20 Sunderland - 18 Southampton - 90
trousers Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If alpine and dalek are so worried about us going down why don't they stick 100 quid on us going down now, and potentially win 8-10 grand from the bookies? I've already done that

Turkish Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Because they dont actually believe it ? It never ceases to amaze the the people that bite and get upset about it though.

Newcastle are perilously close to the brink in my opinion, tough games for them remaining. We have no worries whatsoever. People who think all the teams below us will win whilst we lose every game are all a bit soft if you ask me! I think it's Wigan. Assuming they lose at champions league chasing arsenal, they have to win 2 of their other last 3 games to stay up - if West brom play like last week I think they'll lose and be effectively gone (and Wigan would need to win all 3 to overtake us)
S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 three are very loseable though we won't get anything from spurs, we will be lucky to get a point at Sunderland and stoke will beat us at home I agree, I can't see us getting anything at a Sunderland side who have just lost 6-1. They looked amazing tonight and have looked unbeatable all season. Every team below us are amazing, and we are completely ****.
Mr X Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Lucky to get a point at Sunderland? Have you been sleeping for the last two hours. Im well aware of their thrashing and that's why it makes them even more dangerous they know they need something against saints
S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Im well aware of their thrashing and that's why it makes them even more dangerous they know they need something against saints But if they won tonight and won well, I'm sure you'd still be saying they're now dangerous, they're a different side etc. I'm happier they've had a thrashing, a big dent on their GD and confidence and a key player missing for the rest of the season. Basically, they're still a **** side. That hasn't changed and won't change in the next 3 games.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Breathtaking arrogance. OK lets see I have supported saints for 45 years and think i know when we are safe and when we arent by now! Why is my view arrogant and yours not paranoia! you have as much chance as being run over by a car crossing the road as of us going down so I hope you stay holed up inside!
saintfully Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 It never ceases to amaze the the people that bite and get upset about it though. Indeed, its like stepping in a dog turd and then refusing to look where you're walking.
Matthew Le God Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Im well aware of their thrashing and that's why it makes them even more dangerous they know they need something against saints What would Sunderland have had to done tonight for them not to be a threat? Win comfortably? Would you just twist it whatever happened tonight? They were terrible tonight and now will be missing Sessègnon for the rest of the season, plus top scorer Fletcher and captain Cattermole.

Matthew Le God Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Hold your horses. Di Canio just said they'll appeal it; so who knows what will actually happen. As things currently stand he is out for the rest of the season.
trousers Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Im well aware of their thrashing and that's why it makes them even more dangerous they know they need something against saints Good job WBA thrashed us at the weekend - makes us nearly as "dangerous" as Sunderland...
The Kraken Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 As things currently stand he is out for the rest of the season. Correct, Captain Pedantic. As things stand. And things can easily change, so you cannot say with 100% certainty that Sessegnon will be missing for the rest of the season until their appeal has been lodged and ruled on.

I might stick a tenner on it.
The Kraken Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 What are the odds? I might stick a tenner on it. 3/1 according to betfair.
macca155 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Come on get a grip bookies put 100/1 for a reason. There would have to be a bizarre set of results for Saints to go down First Saints don't gain a single point when they've managed to get a point from 7 of the last 10 games Secondly Wigan win three of their last four games including their game in hand against Man City, I accept that is very possible Thirdly Sunderland, Newcastle, Villa, and Norwich must all win at least one of their last three games, bearing in mind three of them are playing each other and a number of games are against Champions league chasing teams. Yes it could happen but Saints have only really had one iffy game, there was nothing wrong with a point against West ham and Swansea as they are both pretty similar to Saints. They'll manage at least a point no worries. Villa's win will have pulled six teams straight back into the fight so expect to see results ground out next week. There will certainly be some worried managers amongst the teams below us. If we are worried imagine how the North East are feeling with both teams having conceded six in recent weeks... that's not good very bad karma. I'm still saying Norwich will take the third slot and my wedge is firmly on them at a healthy 20-1 (taken a few weeks ago)
Matthew Le God Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Wigan's game in hand against Man City I don't think the FA Cup final can count as a "game in hand" in the Premier League.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Im well aware of their thrashing and that's why it makes them even more dangerous they know they need something against saints But obviously it also means despite our capitulation against WBA the opposite will happen with Saints and we will now lose the remaining games ? Righto

Wigan are capable of stringing results together and getting out of this. Newcastle play qpr. pretty much a gimmie Sunderland have stoke and us at home, however bad they were tonight can you really see them losing both of them. They played well at Chelsea, beat everton and Newcastle, last night could have been a blip. The thread was about the best result for Southampton tonight and villa winning was not it. If they win sat it drops norwich right in it, but it takes away the villa/wigan last day safety net we had. Villa could lose that and still finish above us.

What odds will you give me that Newcastle DON'T win? 12/1? I'll have a grand on that then please.
Wade Garrett Posted 30 April, 2013 Posted 30 April, 2013 I would be very disappointed with 17th. Hopefully any complacency the team had was knocked out of them last Saturday. Spurs is a very tough game. But we should pick up points elsewhere, as long as we don't throw in any more stinkers.
