S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 How about we dont turn up and dont "play as we can" ? We'll still have enough to get something even if we play bad, they're no great shakes. A 1-1 or 0-0 would do us quite nicely.
The Kraken Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Benteke really is a very good player. £7M very well spent Villa.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Well, this is decent viewing from a saints fan, Wigan well in the mire, Newcastle out of form and sunderlands best player suspended. And Benteke has a third
Webby Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Benteke has to be worth a few bob now. Fair play to the lad.
Chewy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I have been saying as such for the last two weeks but have been lambasted. If the score stays the same, we are in the mire and hoping for a Wigan collapse. As I have stated many times, if we stay on 39 points WE WILL BE RELEGATED. No we won't.
VectisSaint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Sunderland have the same run in as we do. I don't see why they would get more points out of it than us. Unless of course they beat us, then they would get more points than us. Problem with tonight is that it is now less likely that Villa will be fighting to avoid the drop on the last day, meaning Wigan will have a better chance of getting 9 points from the last 4 games.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Benteke really is a very good player. £7M very well spent Villa. If we had someone of his quality we would be v v good indeed. Remember a thread about him where people were saying he was terrible.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Wigan well capable of 2 wins and 2 draws from their last 4. I will take your 17th right now.

True, we have to get that extra three points to make us safe. 39 points doesn't look enough to be honest.

kpturner Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Sessegnon presumably now banned for our match against them?
Appy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 If we had someone of his quality we would be v v good indeed. Remember a thread about him where people were saying he was terrible. Had his worst game of the season against us at Villa Park. Probably clouded people's judgement.
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Wigan well capable of 2 wins and 2 draws from their last 4. I will take your 17th right now. Deffo, I can see us slipping over the edge.
ART Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Watch Sunderland got the Red card overturned. It was no more than as yellow
Saint Charlie Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Lukaku will end up superior to Benteke IMO, he is a superb striker with every attribute needed. Imagine Belgium in a few years time...
alpine_saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Watch Sunderland got the Red card overturned. It was no more than as yellow Was just thinking the same.
Appy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Was just thinking the same. Unlikely. In the current climate they very rarely overturn reds.
JoeShmoe Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 We really do need to buck up and realise we're not out of this cos that's how we played against WHU and WBA
aqbadger Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Still 100/1 with the bookies boys. We'll be fine
kpturner Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I wouldn't like to have some of the posters on here on my side in the trenches - jeez! It's almost like you want us to go down!
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 The 'we are safe' brigade are evaporating into the night I see
Saints foreva Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Can see Wigan getting four points from their next two games.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Was just thinking the same. TBH I may agree with this, I can see it going either way. It wasnt the worst challenge in the world but equally can see why it would be given as red
so22saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 The 'we are safe' brigade are evaporating into the night I see Nope. I think we'll be fine. I think Newcastle might collapse though, and after the pasting they get from the fascist maybe the Sunderland players will give it up as well. Anyway Dalek, do what I did and bung a tenner on at 100 to 1 (or bung 50 quid on - 5 large would sweeten the pill of relegation)...
Saint Charlie Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 We must be in freefall after one defeat in seven
CB Fry Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 The 'we are safe' brigade are evaporating into the night I see Or not. We are safe.

brett24 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Why are people assuming we are not going to get anymore points this season, yet Wigan are going to get 8 or more points from 12. It could happen but no point worrying about it until 5pm on Saturday. Villa could potentially need a result against Wigan, they could easily lose to Norwich and then Chelsea! Norwich have Man City away on the last game of the season on Newcastle have Arsenal at home. Can see West Ham with Nolan and Carroll gifting a Newcastle win this weekend. Really believe we will get something at Spurs.
The Kraken Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Lukaku will end up superior to Benteke IMO, he is a superb striker with every attribute needed. Imagine Belgium in a few years time... Imagine Belgium now. They're comfortably top of their WC group with the likes of Mignolet, van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, Vermaelen, Dembele, Fellaini, Hazard, de Bruyne, Benteke, Mirallas and Lukaku in their side, amongst others. They're really on the up and could be a really genuine shout for the WC if their players stay fit and on form next summer.
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Or not. We are safe. Seriously, how can we be unless you really believe Wigan are about to collapse.
Jonnyboy Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Can see Wigan getting four points from their next two games. Unlikely.
OttawaSaint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 The 'we are safe' brigade are evaporating into the night I see We're just not as persistent as you. You've made your point many many times. You can come back and tell us all about it if we get relegated. Maybe you could use the time away to figure out your strategy for next season. So far we have had 17th place, yo-yo strategy, and definitely going down on 39 points. You, MrX, Turkish, Glasgow Saint and Barry Sanchez have utterly ruined this board with your constant spamming to get a rise out of decent posters. Pretty pathetic to see what lengths you lot will do to to achieve this and the downright nastiness of the likes of Turkish and BS. Embarrassing to be a fellow Saints fan really.
LGTL Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I love the "we'll be lucky to get a point from our next three games" but then the "Wigan/Villa/Sunderland are BOUND to get 4/5/6 points". How the hell are they anymore likely to get points then us. Brilliant! There's the sixth!
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 We must be in freefall after one defeat in seven Ive not looked but we must still be up there in the form table. This is typical Villa though, attacking wise they are very good, which is why they only play that way, from a talent point of view also they have it, but they are young, lack experience and so are v mentally fragile. There season has been up and down, they will get a win out of the blue and look v good and then follow it up with x amounts of losses. Still, if I were Wigan, Newcastle and even sunderland now I would be worried

Have you forgotten the 2004 Glenn Hoddle saga ?
Saints foreva Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Unlikely. It was also unlikely that we would only get 1 point from QPR and West Ham at home. Swansea at home for Wigan is very winnable.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Imagine Belgium now. Said this the other day, also Dufour, Witsel, Meertens, Alderwerield, courtois, Vossen dont really know whats in the water down there but England need some of it
Saint Without a Halo Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 The 'we are safe' brigade are evaporating into the night I see Relax we are safe!
Dalek2003 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 6-1. Wow, Slumberland are getting a right drubbing. Homestly think it is turning into a right bunfight from us down.
ART Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 We must be in freefall after one defeat in seven We've not played too well over the past 3 games. Something hasn't been quite up to previous games, where we were able to score.
Bucks Saint Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Interesting how many on here thought Sunderland would win pre-match. I assume based on their recent resurgence, but its very short lived and prior to that they have been awful and generally less threatening than Villa. We dont need to fear them at S o L, go for throat.
