Chewy Posted 2 May, 2013 Posted 2 May, 2013 I pray that you are right and my prediction is rubbish, but having sweated through many run ins best to predict the worst....the key game is WBA v Wigan on Saturday, if WBA win, then I will rest much easier, simple really? No need to pray - just can't see that Wigan will win their next 2 (starting with west brom awAy), the toon will win away to west ham, Sunderland win away at stoke and villa win at Norwich. Each one of those is unlikely, all happening together is just utterly improbable. Saints winning or drawing at spurs is far more likely than this domesday scenario. And having sweated through many run ins myself, i can safely say I've felt massively less comfortable in the past and we've ended up safe on all but one occasion (in my lifetime ... Actually twice including the drop to league one, but I meant from the top flight)
brett24 Posted 2 May, 2013 Posted 2 May, 2013 Met Chris Kamara at ACT conf in Liverpool today said there was no way Saints would get relegated this year, said we have had an excellent season.

musesaint Posted 2 May, 2013 Author Posted 2 May, 2013 This weekend may ease our suffering if results go our way A bonus would be at least a point at Spurs

Barry Sanchez Posted 2 May, 2013 Posted 2 May, 2013 Met Chris Kamara at ACT conf in Liverpool today said there was no way Saints would get relegated this year, said we have had an excellent season. Sweet im off to Ladbrokes........
musesaint Posted 3 May, 2013 Author Posted 3 May, 2013 Judging by his interview on the Player MP thinks we need at least 1 more point If we got that tomorrow ........
saints_is_the_south Posted 3 May, 2013 Posted 3 May, 2013 Certainly going to have one eye on the WBA-Wigan game tomorrow, hopefully the Baggies can repeat the performance they put in against us. If Wigan lose tomorrow then that's us safe for sure. Even if they won their game in hand against Swansea which would put them 4 points behind us (assuming we lost at WHL), their next PL game is Arsenal away so lose that and we are mathematically safe. So how comfortable the final 2 games are for us, really hinges on tomorrow. If Wigan beat WBA and Swansea, the it really would be squeaky bum time.
The9 Posted 3 May, 2013 Posted 3 May, 2013 Judging by his interview on the Player MP thinks we need at least 1 more point If we got that tomorrow ........ Even if he thinks we don't need any points he's hardly likely to say it, is he ? That's Redknapp levels of stupid unmotivation.

Of course we could still pick up points against Sunderland and Stoke, but I would rather not go inot the last game of the season knowing we need a win etc. I think all the arrogance and complacency from some posters over the last few weeks has been astonishing.
PhilippineSaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 Commentators on the Celta Vigo - Atheltico Bilbao game last night said we were safe and it would be between Wigan and Aston Villa

Astonishing to be so complacent when the stats say we are about 1 in 200 (or was it 500) to go down. I find it astonishing that some peopl choose to air their mental opinions so publicly but there you go. 38 points will still be safe Dalek.
musesaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Author Posted 4 May, 2013 Villa and Wigan both winning - bloody hell - are we safe? Next few minutes critcal at Spurs
Barry Sanchez Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 I believe I said this in the week and was laughed at by the ever knowing clappers.
Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 I believe I said this in the week and was laughed at by the ever knowing clappers. Been saying it for the last 4 weeks and have been lambasted and kicked around the sit by the ostrich brigade.

You know best, but if Wigan win their game in hand they are in spitting distance. Safe ? Like **** we are !
PaulSaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 Wigan traditionally win all their "must wins" to stay up on the last day, however they've never had a FA Cup Final in the middle of it before?
CB Fry Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 We are safe. We won't go down. This. 100000% this. Bale has just scored, which will get the bellends going. We are safe.
Barry Sanchez Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 The clappers are like the peace in our time bells.
musesaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Author Posted 4 May, 2013 We are safe. We won't go down. I'm increasingly worried !
skintsaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 here we go.. we are safe baring a massive turn of form from Naarwich, Newcastle and Wigan.
Lighthouse Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 Norwich might just be our saving grace. They have WBA at home and a trip to City. If WBA can get a draw, that should just about do it. The way we have played today though, we can get a result at Sunderland and at home to Stoke.
hypochondriac Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 here we go.. we are safe baring a massive turn of form from Naarwich, Newcastle and Wigan. Norwich are the crucial ones. Newcastle can beat QPR next week and wigan are a team in form.

The Mac Attack Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 We are far from safe. If Sunderland win v stoke and Wigan win their game in hand we are one point above the drop zone with two games to play. How anybody can construe that as safe I have no idea.
musesaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Author Posted 4 May, 2013 To lose at Spurs after we played so well is gutting I am actually starting to hate Bale - I never thought I'd say that!
Georgie Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 This is ridiculous. After the reading game we have accumulated 2 bloody points. We are in real trouble
Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 here we go.. we are safe baring a massive turn of form from Naarwich, Newcastle and Wigan. Ha ha ha, what ? You mean they win 1 game, yes one whole game ?

skintsaint Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 Ha ha ha, what ? You mean they win 1 game, yes one whole game ? You seen the form tables?..
Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 All these people suddenly have woken up to the fact we are far from safe. Where are the clowns with their statistical tables. I have said time and time again, you cannot predict football and that Wigan are more than capable of getting the results they need.
Steeleye Saint Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 So what do the statisticians say now? Percentages have changed somewhat today I think.

One team might...not four.
The Kraken Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 So what do the statisticians say now? Percentages have changed somewhat today I think. Indeed. I'm sure NickG will be along soon with the latest form table.

Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 You seen the form tables?.. Form goes out of the window at this late stage ! That is football ! It is so unpredictable and we could easily fall through the trap door.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 Down to 20/1 with the bookies but Wigan, Norwich, Newcastle, and Sunderland all have shorter odds. Would still taking something pretty extraordinary for us to get relegated.

I have said time and time again, you cannot predict football and that Wigan are more than capable of getting the results they need. As indeed are we.. The difference is ..they are getting the results and we are fcu*king not Great goal from Bale ..but having played so well we really needed to see that out! And we failed to do so.
Dalek2003 Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 I have said for many weeks 39 points will not be enough ! I again, stand by this. I have put my neck on the block for weeks and have been constantly lambasted and ridiculed but I have already been proven right in that we are in a relegation scrap !
SaintBobby Posted 4 May, 2013 Posted 4 May, 2013 We're fine. A point today would have sealed it though. Pity.
