Are We Safe?

I pray that you are right and my prediction is rubbish, but having sweated through many run ins best to predict the worst....the key game is WBA v Wigan on Saturday, if WBA win, then I will rest much easier, simple really?

No need to pray - just can't see that Wigan will win their next 2 (starting with west brom awAy), the toon will win away to west ham, Sunderland win away at stoke and villa win at Norwich. Each one of those is unlikely, all happening together is just utterly improbable. Saints winning or drawing at spurs is far more likely than this domesday scenario.

And having sweated through many run ins myself, i can safely say I've felt massively less comfortable in the past and we've ended up safe on all but one occasion (in my lifetime ... Actually twice including the drop to league one, but I meant from the top flight)

Met Chris Kamara at ACT conf in Liverpool today said there was no way Saints would get relegated this year, said we have had an excellent season.

Thanks, feel better now, i'll sleep easy knowing big Chris thinks we're ok!!

I don't think we'll go down either btw...

Certainly going to have one eye on the WBA-Wigan game tomorrow, hopefully the Baggies can repeat the performance they put in against us. If Wigan lose tomorrow then that's us safe for sure. Even if they won their game in hand against Swansea which would put them 4 points behind us (assuming we lost at WHL), their next PL game is Arsenal away so lose that and we are mathematically safe.

So how comfortable the final 2 games are for us, really hinges on tomorrow. If Wigan beat WBA and Swansea, the it really would be squeaky bum time.

Judging by his interview on the Player MP thinks we need at least 1 more point

If we got that tomorrow ........

Even if he thinks we don't need any points he's hardly likely to say it, is he ? That's Redknapp levels of stupid unmotivation.

Sounds about right to me. Of course we could still pick up points against Sunderland and Stoke, but I would rather not go inot the last game of the season knowing we need a win etc. I think all the arrogance and complacency from some posters over the last few weeks has been astonishing.

Astonishing to be so complacent when the stats say we are about 1 in 200 (or was it 500) to go down. I find it astonishing that some peopl choose to air their mental opinions so publicly but there you go. 38 points will still be safe Dalek.

You know best, but if Wigan win their game in hand they are in spitting distance. Safe ? Like **** we are !

Norwich might just be our saving grace. They have WBA at home and a trip to City. If WBA can get a draw, that should just about do it.

The way we have played today though, we can get a result at Sunderland and at home to Stoke.

Pinning my hopes on that!

We are far from safe. If Sunderland win v stoke and Wigan win their game in hand we are one point above the drop zone with two games to play. How anybody can construe that as safe I have no idea.

Lots of ifs.... we need to take events in our own fcu*king hands!

Sunderland now vital imho!

All these people suddenly have woken up to the fact we are far from safe. Where are the clowns with their statistical tables. I have said time and time again, you cannot predict football and that Wigan are more than capable of getting the results they need.

If they lose them then what?...Why do people assume they will suddenly find form and win games in hand etc...strange stuff. One team might...not four.

So why do you predict us to get hammering's every week then?

As indeed are we..

The difference is ..they are getting the results and we are fcu*king not :x

Great goal from Bale ..but having played so well we really needed to see that out! And we failed to do so.

I have said for many weeks 39 points will not be enough ! I again, stand by this.

I have put my neck on the block for weeks and have been constantly lambasted and ridiculed but I have already been proven right in that we are in a relegation scrap !
