Seaford Saint Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Im pretty sure that the club isnt about to rest on its luarels, certainly not from what I have heard and also what I have read in the press. To say that Survival is anywhere near underachieving with a team that is pretty much a relic of League 1 and NPC football with a spattering of additions, in our first season is laughable. Yes we spent money, we had to, but IMO we have done well. Stick a solid defender next to Maya and itll be a lot more solid (jos isnt the answer) then some pace, a forward that can lead the line and some more depth centrally and we will be ok. 39 points had us safe weeks ago for all etc a mammoth bottom 6 upturn in form and our own capitulation. How anyone can think that anywhere between 17th and 11th is mot good enough is deluded. Sums it up for me too.....scoring goals is a problem for most teams to be fair. It needs addressing and it will be I am sure.
badgerx16 Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Still makes me smile that Saggy Chops told his QPR players to target 37 points for safety... It still might be enough. how? only 3 teams now have less than 38! Because Wigan could still finish on 35.

Webby Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 We could still go down if we lose both games, but then again, if we win both we could finish in the top ten. It's crazy! Smirking_Saint Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 But they both have 38. I think too many people are ignoring the fact he set this target long ago, he never achieved it, in reality, should QPR be sat on 37 points now they could well be in with a shot of survival. But they are not so we will never know
Window Cleaner Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Whatever the results this weekend I think it's highly likely that Wigan will be beaten by the Arse next week - which will mean we are safe "through the Arse" anyway - not a pleasant thought Wigan will not beat Arsenal, I'd hoped that all the pantswetting would now be over and the purveyors of said pantswetting not be heard from for a few months. Arsenal,Chelsea,Spurs, 3 teams for 2x 20 million £ earning places, none of them will lose to the likes of Wigan.

Window Cleaner Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 No idea what you're on about. You're obviously wrong as Wigan might not get another point. That scenario is quite likely to be honest. but for QPR to have stayed up it would have needed another side to be on less than 37 points (or have an inferior GD and 37 points) at the end of the season. Which can't now happen. So all in all you couldn't stay up on 37 points. Then again if QPR had got 37 points another side might not have done so, Newcastle or Norwich perhaps, someone that beat QPR. Chewy Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 No, not at all. Somebody said that Harry was stupid for targeting 37 points for safety as that would still have sent them down. Somebody said it might be enough still ... And i was just clarifying how it wouldn't, the best place 37 points will now get is 18th, and therefore relegated. I'm confused as to why this I'd difficult to understand.

Pick a few teams that have beaten or drawn with QPR from the bottom half of the table - convert them to wins for QPR, and see what points those teams would now have. Haven't worked it out myself but you might find that Wigan and AN Other may be well capable of having less than 37 by the end.

The9 Posted 8 May, 2013 Share Posted 8 May, 2013 Merely mimicking the original text......and it is only for that reason that I am not picking you up for failing to use a full stop instead of a comma. HTH Just to wade in, if a full stop not a comma was used, the sentence would be "'Would' not 'would'". As that doesn't contain a verb, it would not be a sentence, merely a sentence fragment. In short, the comma was correct. As for you lot and your 37 points argument, it IS amusing that Redknapp targeted 37 points, which is a total that would still leave QPR finishing the season in the bottom 3. That's ignoring that they'd have got those points by beating teams above them and therefore possibly resulting in a lower target being safe, because they also might have only beaten top half sides, thereby not affecting the total required for safety at all. In short, can you all stop it now, please ?
