Turkish Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 (edited) Thank you. For some reason Turkish thinks its fun to over run this forum with posts proving only he is both unpleasant and not very bright. Of course, anyone with half a dozen brain cells (can see why Turkish didn't follow) can see it as a response to the post saying 39 is now certainly not enough - hence an extreme bad example of results for us, results for others that wouldn't shock any betting shop. Point proven. Turkisk, if you are genuinely interested in how the form table works now (teams with two games repeating last couple of games form etc) then it still has us safe. I suspect you were just being an immature attention seeking ***** though. Anyone and I mean even people with half a dozen brain cells can make up a set of results that may happen in the future to support some argument. As for form guides, I notice there's been no update for a few weeks on your ones since we've not won in four and only scored once, but then im not surprised, not great form for a team that is capable of finishing 6th with no new signings is it and makes your claims look rather foolish. Turkish Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 If there is one thing we have learnt from this forum this season it is the utter futile meaninglessness of the phrase "realistic target". As the above gibberish demonstrates it means nothing apart from vague notion that we might win every game from now on, we probably won't and anyway I never said we would finish there and anyway finishing lower is fine and I never said it wasn't but anyone who says that target is a wrong is a wrist slitter even though I don't actually think we can actually achieve that target even though we might or not or something. And anyway, how was I supposed to know we would ever lose again after we'd won that game the other week after all I am not some kind of fortune teller. All it was just a realistic target or something and how dare you mock it when I don't even know or think we can hit it. Or not. On thing is for sure, the divs that were certain wed finish 10th a few weeks back won't admit they were overstating our ability, nor will come out and say that we've had a crap season if we finish, say 15th. If we're targeting 10th then finishing 1/4 of the league below our target position its an abject failure is it not? Or aren't we targeting 10th now as having lost a couple of games its not very realistic so we're settling for lower, or we never thought we'd finish 10th anyway, it was just a 'reach for the moon' target. It's all very confusing this forum target setting.

Love it when people resort to insults like this about being insecure and having low self esteem, then at the same time getting all upset because they've been made to look stupid on an anonymous internet forum. utterly brilliant. Making up quotes? Not me sunshine, unless of course you're now denying you said this team was good enough to finish 6-9th with no new signings. Although I'm not sure what sort of a target/finishing position this is now. Is it a realistic one? Is it a 'reach for the stars' aim for 6th and we'll finish 10th, type one? Is it a unrealistic and never going to happen and no one thought it was possible anyway? Maybe you could explain.

brett24 Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 I had a £10 on us for relegation at 80/1 and just stuck another £10 on at 30/1, I am rubbish at betting so really hoping to jinx it. Had a £1 on Sunderland also. Think we want a Stoke win tonight and a convincing one if possible to knock the stuffing out of them for when we face them on Saturday. Confident we can win our next two games as I don't see Wigan losing to Swansea. Pretty good point someone made earlier about this weeks games, Swansea, West Brom and QPR have nothing to play for this could work both way but it's Saints luck they all take it easy. If its a draw tonight we then have two teams facing us battling to stay up which is going to make it alot harder. Think potentially our run in now is harder then the rest of our rivals. Praying Swansea beat Wigan, if that happens think we are 99% safe.

ART Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 If Pochettino keeps spouting off who he wants to bring in from Spain at a time when we urgently need points, ensures he's not going to get a good response from the players. It's enough to **** them off big style. To say he's naive is an under estimation, I'd rather use thick. Why does Cortesé not have a word in his ear. Nigel never let anything out of the bag, remained silent on what players we were after. I can see Nigel sitting back ready to grab any player wanting to leave. Why is it so hard for you to understand what "realistic target" means? I shall put is it simply for you, it's where we could have possibly finished in the best case scenario, not, I repeat NOT. Again, that is NOT where we expect to finish, just where we COULD have finished given the way we were playing and the run in we have. With a small amount of luck in the West Ham and Swansea games we could be sat in 9th place right now, as it turns out we are 14th and a realistic target now would be 11th even though mathematically we could probably still finish 9th. saints_is_the_south Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 Wigan will beat Swansea, I'm pretty certain of that. I've done the BBC Predictor about 10 times since Saturday, and my conclusion is that if Norwich fail to beat West Brom at home, then they will get relegated as I don't see them getting anything at the Etihad. In that scenario, we are already safe on 39 points.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 (edited) Of course that will happen. yep, they'll be keen to plumet down the table and even (in theory) not be "safe" with Utd away up next and Fulham who could be desperate by then on the last day of the season. Being kind to Martinez could in theory cost Swansea 5 million £ or so. Wigan will be stuck between a rock and hard pace for this game they need to win but the won't want to get injured before Saturday. Draw would suit us fine though. With 2 games left, we are only 4 points away from 9th. That isn't a huge amount Turkish, especially as we had a dreadful start to the season with 8 defeats, 1 draw, 1 win in the opening 10 games. bpsaint Posted 6 May, 2013 Share Posted 6 May, 2013 This is what worries me when you look at the Swans v Wigan and the Baggies v Norwich. In another sense Frenchcastle playing a QPR side who have absolutely nothing left to play for. The thing is West Brom still have a chance of finishing 8th, and Swansea still have a chance to finish 9th. Final league position means extra ££££, particularly in the Prem. Teams aren't just going to rollover and let the opponents tickle their belly as they have nothing to play for. You highlight the Newcastle QPR game, but just look how already relegated Reading got on against Fulham on Saturday. Honestly we've got some serious wet fannies on here, we're clear of the relegation zone with worse teams below us and people are panicking like the world is about to end. Did any of you live through the relegation battles of the Dell years? That's when we should have been really worried, but we always kept the belief that we would survive. Keep the faith! People need to manage their expectations. We're a newly promoted side, anything 17th place and above should be considered a successful season. The thing is, in the 90's we were more often than not in Wigan's '**** or bust' scenario. We had great fight and spirit and so did the fans. We had this about 6 weeks ago but we simply 'switched off' too early and relied on the idea that results eslewhere would see us safe anyhow.
