cant stop seeing that challenge. I hope the club fine him and Gaston for that matter for their needless challenges but Fox could have ended the WBA's playing career. What was he thinking?

He got fed a hospital ball but the challenge was bloody disgusting. He was probably wondering how he was going to get back in to position TBH

Personally, having had my share of injuries those challenges have no place on the field and whether on me or a mate Id have had to stop myself clocking him be it Sunday or Saturday

Has anyone got any footage of the challenge? A few on here suggesting it really was a total shocker but we're at the other end. West Brom players reaction suggested he thought it was one that was intended to hurt.

He is gash. As someone has said, he brings the quality of the whole team down. He gets jos into trouble all the time due to his bad positional play. Jos doesn't get so much criticism when Shaw plays. Coincidence?

The ball to him from Davis wasn't great, but, Fox should've been much closer to where the ball was played. IIRC, he made a move forward then stopped.

He was just about adequate in the championship but way out of his depth here.

The stream I was watching was pretty low quality and so my first reaction was that it looked like a genuine 50-50 and the red card was harsh. But the replay showed it was a wild lunge with two feet off the ground that could have caused a very serious injury. straight red and no complaints.

Dont know why Fox is being singled out, the whole back four got found wanting today, how many thought it was three point in the bag because its WBA.

I cant remember another front 2/3 this season giving our defence such a runaround.

Why Chelsea loan out Lukako when they have Torres firing blanks is is beyond me.

We were done by a better team. Full stop.

Thank you. Clyne was just as bad as Fox today. Yoshida's worst game in a Saints shirt also I think. Poor distribution and didn't win much in the air.

I was in the Chapel. Fox slid in, studs up, and was late. He got a straight red, which was totally deserved. He had already been booked for pulling back Lukaku when he got wrong side of him.

Because he went two footed when he REALLY didnt need to.

I swear some people must watch a different game to me. Clyne was not at his best but he was one of two or three Saints players who could say they weren't terrible. Almost scored too, but for the woodwork. Fox was in his own special category of sh*tness today, utterly atrocious.

Fox is an average player who plays to the best of his ability. Today our problem was our good players being w a n k

Come on mate...read the script. Fox and Guly are disgusting human beings who had no impact whatsoever on our promotions and set out to play badly every time

Absolutely, if that was Suarez or someone else he'd get pelters for that, it was shocking and they should extend the ban if anything

Ramirezs sending off has been coming as well. Seen him do some comical diving, some stupid challenges and now an elbow

Both ought to be suitably fined

I for one won't be at all bothered if neither wear a Saints shift again

Today showed we are still a bottom ten team, were not in the mid table bracket with Swansea, WBA etc. Rickie looks tired and I think we need another striker to back him up. We also need at least 3 new defenders, another centre midfielder and a quality playmaker. Poch and Cortese will be busy this summer I suspect

Fox isn't a world class left back, luckily we have one that will be. His failings have only been exposed due to Shaw's injuries. Along with Hooiveld he is not great and all being well shouldn't feature in the matchday squad but doesn't deserve the bandwagon abuse he gets.

I think you missed my point, no fan of Fox but why single out when the whole defence was poor, Clyne was mugged on regular basis in the first half with the usual huff and puff protection from Lallana. Yoshida had a poor game against a good player and Hoiveld, he has been very lucky over the last few games he looked pedestrian today. Only Davis, Morgan & Cork showed today. Sadly only as individuals rather than a unit.

Lets face we love our fall guys, puncheon, guly now fox. He's our second choice full back with Shaw injured and he's not even that for the rest of the season.

My thoughts on Fox are in the build up thread. Today's sending off could be the end of his Southampton career. He's not a Premier League left back, and we shouldn't have to feel nervous about what performance our left back is going to turn in when we read the team sheet. Left back is a spot hopefully Pochettino has an eye on sorting out in the summer - and while Shaw is our future, I wouldn't be against him bringing in a top left back to provide competition for Shaw. It's a long season and Shaw will only be 18 - plenty of time for him and the new left back to get game time, thus not stunting Shaw's development.

I thank Fox for a solid nPC season, and wish him well, but I truly hope I don't see him in a Saints shirt next season.

All comments are IMO.

Fox was particularly bad in the 10-15 minutes leading up to the sending off, with the crowd getting at him.

I think Reid suffered the consequences of his frustration.

I doubt whether we will be busy in the transfer market until the apples are falling off the trees. We don't prepare well for new seasons.

You really have to be kidding, Clyne was probably our best player today (maybe thats not saying much) and if you think that was Yoshi's worst game then you presumably missed the ones when he played right back or left back. He was OK. Hooiveld was awful, blatant handball in first half that the ref missed, but generally truly awful, but again whoever playes left centre when Fox is playing gets dragged about and out of position. Fox was absolutely ****e today, out of position time and again, left for dead by Lukaku on more than one occassion, bad yellow in the first half, appalling crosses, gave away at least one unneccesary corner and gave Boruc the ****s - I did applaud one interception he made which was very good. He was actually beginning to look a bit more effective when it went 10v10 but then he had his red mist brain failure, and killed any hopes of at least making a fight of it in the last 10 or so. I really do hope that is the last time we see him in a Saints shirt, we have had some great LBs in the past, and currently we have to put up with this complete pile of poo, if he has Left Back on his CV then he should be done for fraud, never seen a left back so inept at defending (maybe Bernard, but even that is debatable). Not clear whether Shaw will be available next week, truly hope he is, but any one of those 8 year old kids who were on the pitch at half time could do a better job than Danny Fecking Fox. Awful, awful player.

so his failings have only been shown up due to playing football. yes i'd agree with that. his main failing is his ability to play football.

Well I am sure we'll get round to it urgently.....end of August perhaps.

If we're very good, and very, very lucky.

I have NO faith in this management, or countless previous management line-ups, in actually addressing the issue of the players we need.

Need a defence ? Go and spend 12m on a dodgy S. American midfielder...

I was at Swansea away and i though he actually played ok, i was hoping he would build on his performance, his 1st half was poor 2nd half much better defending wise, aldo his crossing was so **** then jos went LB and put in a great cross that made him look like Beckham compared to Fox.

I would feel sorry for him but when he tries stupid shots and passes when there is better options i cant.

This. There are a couple of idiots that sit behind me, and I swear they blamed Fox for Cork being substituted. Frankly I'm embarrassed for them as they blame him for everything. He's not good enough, but I'm not sure what people are hoping to achieve by getting on his back all the time. It's hardly helping him or the team.

I like Danny Fox. I think he works hard for the team but I do think he is more a championship player.

In what way does he work hard?

that's Yoshida in most games for me.

He works very hard to get back into position, as he's never in position.

fullbacks without pace are always going to be under pressure. In this day and age I wouldn't sign a fullback unless he is quick.
