smackalec Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 I got a text last night which said "Getting excited for next season already." At first I thought 'calm down, let's get this 1 out of the way 1st' but after reading the Morgan interview, I've woken today with a burning desire to be part of the happy clappy parade. I know this gets spoke of alot on here but we really have had a massive low in the last 5 years and now some would say we are back at the top. But I don't think we are. Is it conceivable that we could double or even triple last years spend in the summer and really push on for a huge finish next year? We are currently 23 points off of 4th place, is that just to much of a margin to make up? Can we attract the right sort of players? Would you rather we bought players who are used to winning things or players who are 'up for the fight'? Don't know what my point is really, just thinking out loud. Just feels really good being a Southampton fc fan at the moment.

Dalek2003 Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Er.....lets secure our place in the premier league first, starting with 3 points against the Baggies !
Wiggles31 Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Its fricking awesome being a Saints fan at the moment!
Avenue Saint Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Its fricking awesome being a Saints fan at the moment! This! The feel good factor and optimism is just immense right now and I predict record take up of season tickets next year too!
The Kraken Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 This! The feel good factor and optimism is just immense right now and I predict record take up of season tickets next year too! Not that we'll actually know though.... But agreed, I get the feeling that crowds next season could be akin to those in 2003/04. A season of that and a bigger stadium becomes a more realistic prospect. Heady days .

CWD Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 If offered now, would you take 12th place and an FA Cup final (no guarantee we'd win the cup)? I would, 40 points is still the primary aim next season. Once we get there, the we can see where we are.
dan17 Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 We will walk this league next season. Still makes me smile every time I read these words!
Badger Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Its fricking awesome being a Saints fan at the moment! Well enjoy the moment whilst it lasts. Don't get ahead of yourself. I think I've been following Saints long enough (since the 60's) to have seen plenty of times where we have seen two steps forward only to have our dreams fall apart with an unexpected turmoil. At the moment I'm hoping for stability, and keeping the existing structure, owners, manager, key players in place, with some building on that. However, I'm also asking what 'bombshell' can we expect ? Key player throwing in a transfer request, publicised sulk, or possibly MP saying he's not coming back from Spain in July. Hope this is wrong, but the last 40+ years have had frequent disappointments with managers, players, leaving when least expected. What was it NA used to say, "expect the unexpected - Sun Szu ".
Badger Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 So, Ladies & Gentlemen, are we still looking forward to next season after today's shambles ?
The Kraken Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 So, Ladies & Gentlemen, are we still looking forward to next season after today's shambles ? No; I hope next season never comes. Ever.
Badger Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Okay, so things should improve. But I don't go along with the MP being the new 'Pep' or 'Jose' that many want to believe.
Olallana Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 Okay, so things should improve. But I don't go along with the MP being the new 'Pep' or 'Jose' that many want to believe. Me neither until Ronaldo or Messi joins us!
Barry Sanchez Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 This lad writing this makes me laugh, what did you say his name was again, Renton?
Dalek2003 Posted 27 April, 2013 Posted 27 April, 2013 We will walk this league next season. Er.....lets secure our place in the premier league first, starting with 3 points against the Baggies ! (as I was saying)
