CFSFC Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Martin Hunter "our centre backs were very very poor in the late stages of the game" 4.2 million - what a complete waste of money this appears to be.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Tino's 1st signing too - things can only get better I suppose
MarkSFC Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Amazing!!! The expectation that footballers perform at their highest level for EVERY single minute of EVERY single game is ridiculous ignorant and shows no understanding for sport. I wonder whether these distractions have every had "a bad day of the office" or even just 15minutes.... This forum is full of cvnts.

What level of performance would you expect from a 24 year old that cost several million £s?
UpweySaint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Martin Hunter "our centre backs were very very poor in the late stages of the game" 4.2 million - what a complete waste of money this appears to be. Dont think you'r jumping the gun a touch ..?
Turkish Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Is that directed at Martin Hunter based on his comments? What level of performance would you expect from a 24 year old that cost several million £s? Who is a full international playing in an U21s game.
Wiggles31 Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Strange signing it would appear but until we've seem him play we can hardly right him off.
Saint_clark Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Because talented players never have bad games.
MarkSFC Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Is that directed at Martin Hunter based on his comments? What level of performance would you expect from a 24 year old that cost several million £s? Of course not. Hunter has the right to judge as the manager. The OP unless employed by the club in a footballing role associated to the U21 side is simply pedalling unfounded opinion which happens far too often, by many on here, seemingly exclusively with overseas buys. Give the International a f****** break. Some fans are bloody clueless and embarrassing. And I don't care what you think of me!!!
Sour Mash Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Strange signing it would appear but until we've seem him play we can hardly right him off. I've seen him play a couple of times now. Doesn't look an improvement on our current CBs at all.
UpweySaint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 I've seen him play a couple of times now. Doesn't look an improvement on our current CBs at all. Flawed logic perhaps but he was fancied by Liverpool and over decent sides across Europe, has a good number of caps as a young player for a decent national side ... must be something to the lad even if he's yet to show it. I maintain it's too early to really evaluate him until, perhaps, january next year. If, after a full pre season etc, he still hasnt made the side and put in some decent shows then pitchforks out
saints-cris Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 I'll judge him when I see him, would like to see him get a run out once we're mathematically safe.
warsash saint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 & lets not forget how shocking Luke Shaw apparently looked in some of these games before we got a run in the team!

Against West Brom under 21's and he is also not making the bench for a side that was crying out for a centre half prior to January. But yes i'm the c7nt.
View From The Top Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 *Saints fans in righting off player they've yet to watch shocker*

So the OP quotes the manager of the team Forren has just played for and he is 'peddling unfounded opinion'
Minsk Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Martin Hunter "our centre backs were very very poor in the late stages of the game" 4.2 million - what a complete waste of money this appears to be. I must admit this statement did me fill me with confidence in Forren's ability, or lack thereof. However, given the highlighted bit, I am going to write him off or say he is a waste of money just yet. My main problem though is the fact that we were crying out for a CB in January. Not one for the future, but one who could fit straight into the team. Fortunately, we managed to get away without signing one.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Strange signing it would appear but until we've seem him play we can hardly right him off. what about him being left out.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Maybe Forren just isn't interested in playing kids football on a public rec. It's degrading.
Lighthouse Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 what about him being left out. Your clearly not understanding what their on about. Perhaps they could of been more pacific.
Window Cleaner Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Your clearly not understanding what their on about. Perhaps they could of been more pacific. Ah Mrs Malaprop has joined the forum.
Alain Perrin Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 A point people miss is that CB is as much about the pair as it is the player. If you are playing with someone new, or someone who doesn't complement your style, then you can have a poor game no matter how good you are. Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_276 using Board Express

Window Cleaner Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 So if he played Sunday football at centre half with me against inter menan then he would be useless like me? he wouldn't be useless no, but the futility of the exercise might make wonder what he was doing there instead of playing real football in Norway.
Mowgli Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 FFS Hunter was very angry when he said that and rightly so. We were 3-0 up and conceded three late goals. It happens. His criticism was aimed at both Forren and Stephens for that collapse (and the rest of the team for that). This knee jerk reaction thread to a player who in a years time will probably be our best centre back is embarrassing and you can be sure some smart alec will revive it at the appropriate time!
UpweySaint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Maybe Forren just isn't interested in playing kids football on a public rec. It's degrading. Hope not! Hopefully he'l be determined enough to see it as an oppurtunity to prove why he should be in the first team.
Saint Troy Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 So the OP quotes the manager of the team Forren has just played for and he is 'peddling unfounded opinion' Yes that's absolutely right! Direct quote - Martin Hunter "our centre backs were very very poor in the late stages of the game" - this means that in the late stages of an individual under 21 game the centre backs were very very poor. Opinion - "4.2 million - what a complete waste of money this appears to be." Quite clearly not what is quoted by Hunter and is purely the opinion of the poster. May not be wrong but so so so clearly not what Hunter was directly saying. Unless I have missed something and everytime a player is quoted as having a poor period in a game there was no point in buying them and they were a waste of money.
Saint Troy Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Against West Brom under 21's and he is also not making the bench for a side that was crying out for a centre half prior to January. But yes i'm the c7nt. Seems a possibility........ The team was not performing as well in the earlier stages of the season and the centre backs have improved - it is often sensible to not change a team that is performing well and that's certainly true of a stable back 5 - does someone who cost a few million not have to earn his pace in a prem side? Gareth Bale was a huge waste of money at spurs then wasn't he!!
Wes Tender Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Hope not! Hopefully he'l be determined enough to see it as an oppurtunity to prove why he should be in the first team. Agreed. And if a player can't be arsed to give his all, regardless of the significance of the game, then he can't call himself a true professional. I'm not singling anybody out here, but generalising.
Hatch Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Ah Mrs Malaprop has joined the forum. I'm hoping it was tongue in cheek,
Bearsy Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Forren is mixed bag statistically - he's got the best record in the whole squad for not giving away free kicks and hasn't been beaten one-on-one all season, but on the other hand he has 0% pass completion. Room for improvements i should say.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Martin Hunter "our centre backs were very very poor in the late stages of the game" 4.2 million - what a complete waste of money this appears to be. poor for last 15 min so good for 75min! Fitness by any chance?
hutch Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 forren will come good trust me forren is **** waste of money I see your game Jimmy.

Bananaman Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 We've never lost a Premier League match that he has played in
UpweySaint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Agreed. And if a player can't be arsed to give his all, regardless of the significance of the game, then he can't call himself a true professional. I'm not singling anybody out here, but generalising. Precisely. Hopefully he makes an appearance before the end of the season and kicks on in preseason, shows people what hes made of!
paulwantsapint Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Hunter saying cbs poor for 15 mins is this similar to ferguson subbing Rooney last week because he was not going to score but does that mean he is a bad player
Saint Martini Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Is that directed at Martin Hunter based on his comments? What level of performance would you expect from a 24 year old that cost several million £s? I don't see Martin Hunter claiming Forren is a waste of money. That is a valid comment. What is ridiculously ignorant and showing "no understanding of the game" is to claim a player is a waste of money 3 months after having arrived at a club.
shirleysfc Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Messi was **** last night, can someone pop round his gaff and get his World Player of the Year awards off his mantle piece. Ta.
Pugwash Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Messi was **** last night, can someone pop round his gaff and get his World Player of the Year awards off his mantle piece. Ta. Better still, ask him if he fancies turning out for our u-21s.
