Saint-Armstrong Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 Simple really, what would be your North XI and South XI - and who do you think would win? ONE RULE: Maximum of 2 players from each club in your selected XI. Teams are categorised as follows... NORTH Aston Villa Everton Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Newcastle United Stoke City Sunderland West Bromwich Albion Wigan Athletic SOUTH Arsenal Chelsea Fulham Norwich City Queens Park Rangers Reading Southampton Swansea City Tottenham Hotspur West Ham United
The Kraken Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 The south's team is essentially Chelsea plus Gareth Bale. Edit: Didn't read the rules
Saint-Armstrong Posted 23 April, 2013 Author Posted 23 April, 2013 Norwich is further north than Aston Villa - HTH I know, but then I'd end up splitting the Midlands side and that would be a ballache as I am too lazy to judge who is where. So Norwich can remain southern for this. Good job I never took Geography as a qualification.
studentsaint Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 De gea, zabaletta, jagielka, mcCauly, Baines, cabeye, toure, coutinho, benteke Suarez, van persie Schwarzer, ivanovic, Williams, vertonghen, Shaw, schneiderlin, Diame, bale, mata, cazorla, michu North wins.

Turkish Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 North team Krul Baines kompany Vidic Johnson Ben Arfa Toure Fellani Van Persie Benteke Suarez South Caser Walker Williams Haagaland Cole Cazorla Hazard Bale Remy Michu Lambert Both 4-3-3. The North would win easily.
dubai_phil Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 FFS how can you NOT have Guly & Fox in the Southern Teams
Saint Matty 76 Posted 23 April, 2013 Posted 23 April, 2013 Can't really argue with the South team from above. Mignolet G Johnson - Kompany - Vidic - Baines Ben Arfa - Cabaye - Yaya Toure - A Johnson Suarez - van Persie
whelk Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 No one gone for Carrick yet many seem to rate Newcastle's (16th place) midfielders as better. Oh you football hipsters you! And Adam Johnson is a wind up right? One player from the runaway league winners? Surprised not to see Aguerrooooooo anywhere or Boruc or Hart or Natasic Anyway far easier to criticise than compile my own which seems too much effort

And Adam Johnson is a wind up right? One player from the runaway league winners? Surprised not to see Aguerrooooooo anywhere or Boruc or Hart or Natasic Anyway far easier to criticise than compile my own which seems too much effort I initially chose Carrick but took him out as prefered Van Persie and Vidic from Man U, I'm a big Carrick fan but can only have two players from each team! Ben Arfa is a quality player fella!
Wes Tender Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Norwich is further north than Aston Villa - HTH And therefore probably West Brom too. But I thought that the anywhere north of Watford was the North.

So if he did this we should just accept it, not question it and play along...? NORTH Aston Villa Everton Chelsea Liverpool Manchester United Fulham Norwich City Queens Park Rangers Reading West Ham United SOUTH Arsenal Southampton Swansea City Stoke City Sunderland Newcastle United Sunderland West Bromwich Albion Wigan Athletic Tottenham Hotspur Manchester City He had 2 team in the wrong category. The irony of Turkish declaring that some posters are ruining threads is delicious. And I agree with you, that it isn't pedantry to point out two errors which undermine the entire basis of the thread. If the thread title called for posters to nominate the eleven best Saints players of all time and the suggestions included George Best, would one be a pedant for pointing out that he never played for us?

Olallana Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 North: De Gea Zabaleta, Shawcross, Jagielka, Baines Coutinho, Cabaye, Toure, Ben Arfa Benteke, v. Persie South Boruc Walker, Williams, Vermaelen, Shaw Hazard, Cazorla, Mata, Bale Michu, Remy Hmm, tougher than I thought, but a nice bit of fun.

Would be tempted to have Sessegnon in there for the North and it's slim pickings for right-back! In terms of winning I think the lightweight southern midfield might get overrun a bit. 3-1 to the North.

If the thread title called for posters to nominate the eleven best Saints players of all time and the suggestions included George Best, would one be a pedant for pointing out that he never played for us? Yes, because we would all have realised that it was a typo and he meant Leon Best, who of course would be contender for Saints Best XI. While I agree with you about Turkish, there is no hard and fast rule about what is considered north and south. Gloucester City play in the Conference North. There have always been such discrepancies, look back at the Third Division when it was split North/South. It was just a way of balancing the divisions out. Anyway its just a fun thread, there was no need for geographical accuracy.

Turkish Posted 24 April, 2013 Posted 24 April, 2013 Zabaleta? Very hard to leave out 2 other City players though I agree. Phil Jones has played there, I suppose you could use him. Then you'd have to leave out Vidic, Van Persie, Rooney etc.

I don't think that he'll ever score a more accomplished header in his career. Shame it was such a significant one in such a a crucial match for us. Trousers: Why are people worrying about Villa, WBA and Norwich when none of their players would make either team anyway....? A couple of decent Belgians playing for two of those teams :- Lukaku and Benteke. Or does Lukaku count as a Chelsea player?
