S-Clarke Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 I can't remember ever seeing a game as bad as this 30 mins in. It's like some sort of semi-pro non-league game.

Matthew Le God Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 The BBC and Turkish are wrong, if Reading & QPR draw they are both down today and don't wait until Monday as Villa & Wigan play each other on last day. So 17th will have a minimum of 35 points and a draw for QPR & Reading means max they can get is 34 points. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21686144 UPDATE: The BBC have now changed that article. But they acknowledge the change here... 1322: WHAT A DRAW MEANS- Reading v QPR (1330 BST) Right, it seems there has been a bit of talk on Twitter saying that a draw would send both teams down today. This is why we believe not: A draw today puts both QPR and Reading on 25 points. If Wigan and Villa lose their next three games they will go into the final day on 32 and 34 points respectively. If QPR and Reading would go into the final day on 31 points with another two wins. With Wigan and Villa playing each other on the final day, only one of them could be overtaken by QPR and Reading. What do we reckon? What have I missed? 1401 WHAT A DRAW MEANS With neither side showing much danger of scoring, time for an elegant u-turn on my 1322 entry. A draw would condemn both teams to the Championship. If Wigan and Villa lose their next three games they will go into the final day on 32 and 34 points respectively. If QPR and Reading would go into the final day on 31 points with another two wins. With Wigan and Villa playing each other on the final day, only one of them could be overtaken by QPR and Reading, meaning QPR and Reading will both be in the bottom three at the end of the final day. Apologies all. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22329676
Lord Duckhunter Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Want QPR to win. However unlikely it is if they're still not down with 2 games to go Newcastle going to Loftus Road looks a hell of a lot harder. West Ham away, Arsenal at home and QPR on the back of 2 wins is a pretty tough run in.
Shroppie Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Struggling to understand why Sky taters are constantly saying QPR are the better team. Reading look far more composed. Nigel's style beginning to show. Just need a finish.
ToreSF Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Mbia has the worst touch I've seen in a long time.

Nigel's style beginning to show. Just need a finish. From what I have seen they are, by far have the better players, they just have not reallu gelled v well. Reading look like an NPC team in all but name, last chance saloon defending caused by the ball no sticking upfront and a midfield that cant compete. They are lucky that QPR are just as poor with the final ball. For me QPR look better but neither are much cop.
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Reading going through a spell ATM Both carp
Dig Dig Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 QPR not even trying in this game now. Shameful from their players. Hope it stays 0-0 so both are put out of their misery.
melmacian_saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Sooo Super Nige at Reading: 0w 1d (Alex McCarthy blinder) 3l, 2 goals scored. I know they are poor, but hardly top English manager figures...

adrian lord Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Bet he wishes he waited a week or 2 for the Leeds job. Reading's shirts are obscene. Like some northern Rugby league outfits. Thank God we won't have to look at them next season.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Bet he wishes he waited a week or 2 for the Leeds job. perhaps he hadn't been approached for it. Wouldn't be my first choice for any "big" job. Really don't think he's all that as a manager.

David Strover Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 UPDATE: The BBC have now changed that article. But they acknowledge the change here... Hilarious - all the knowledgeable football experts on this forum yet it took two pages to work out that a draw relegates both teams. Perhaps the football experts would like to use the BBC predictor to figure out how Saints can get relegated. Particularly as all the rivals around us more or less have to win every single game - including away wins at Chelsea and wins over Arsenal (both chasing hard for Champions League qualification) I've have tried my hardest to relegate Saints to make the Forum's Pompey Fans in Disguise happy and I can't do it.
S-Clarke Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 2 rubbish teams playing out a meaninglessness game, with no quality on show at all. Both fairly relegated after having disastrous seasons. Will be a long way back for both sides IMO. More so for QPR. Could see them doing a Wolves quite easily.
OttawaSaint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Oh no! Don't tell Dalek, surely this drags us into the "mire"...
badgerx16 Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Does that now mean that SaggyChops has more PL relegations than major trophy successes ?

I'll wait and see, but we are certainly going to find out more about him now than when he was our manager.
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 QPR are in a world of trouble. They've laid out £35m on Samba alone and have a squad full of sh*te players on massive contracts who don't want to be there. Even with Fernandes, they won't be able to spend their way out of that division. The only good news for them is that Redknapp will have quit by November.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 I'll wait and see, but we are certainly going to find out more about him now than when he was our manager. let's say he'll probably never get handed a side with so much ready made talent again. He'll now have to show how good manager he can be and not just point a nucleus of exceptional players in the right direction.

Crab Lungs Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Any bets on Skateknapp returning to his spiritual home before the end of 2013?
Seaford Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Been listening on the radio......sounded terrible.
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 35 million how come ? £12m plus £100k a week for 4.5 years I think the deal was. Nobody is going to buy him on that kind of wedge.

S-Clarke Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Where's Flyer then? Probably on the Leicester forums, telling them how good a squad QPR have and how it will now be very hard for Leicester to be promoted next year.
John Boy Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 they'll probably find a taker though, albeit at a loss. Humongous is the word that is missing between A & Loss. £12m plus £100k a week for a pit pony like that!! That does have Harold Redknapp written all over it!

SNSUN Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Goodbye to both. What a dire game of football. I genuinely tuned in today to watch the match hoping to see an open, goal laden game with both throwing caution to the wind and playing for pride. I should've known. It was a terrible game with a real lack of quality that perfectly highlighted why both clubs are going down. QPR just edged it if you had to decide it on points (a la Boxing) but the Premier League will be richer for not having these two in it next season. I'm not fussed with QPR so much, aside from glee from seeing Redknapp damage his CV again, but I'm not a fan of Reading with the number of friends and acquaintances I have that were suddenly Reading fans earlier in the season and who now have gone quiet. Watching how QPR deal with the amount of money they have spent on transfers and wages next season will make interesting viewing. How long will Fernandes stick it out? One spot left...
adrian lord Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 What with Caterham and QPR, Fernandez seems to like pouring £ into lost causes.
Delboy Dave Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 The fact that a person like Samba does earn the thick end of £15 thousand quid every day of the week makes me not like football as I should
Colinjb Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 What with Caterham and QPR, Fernandez seems to like pouring £ into lost causes. He was quoted on twitter today saying it has taken him 3 years to get Caterham 'right.' They are currently the slowest team on the F1 grid!
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Two teams whose entire season was summed up in a single game. Terrible football, and add to that the quite literal need to win to even have a mathematical chance to stay up and neither of them could muster a goal between them, which is pathetic.
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 He was quoted on twitter today saying it has taken him 3 years to get Caterham 'right.' They are currently the slowest team on the F1 grid! I do like the new shade of green this year though. Ironically Caterham have gone the opposite direction to QPR and replaced their experienced higher paid drivers (has beens if you ask some) with two 'kids' in Pic and Van der Garde.
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 He was quoted on twitter today saying it has taken him 3 years to get Caterham 'right.' They are currently the slowest team on the F1 grid! I detest that man First it was Warnock, then it was Hughes, then Redknapp. If 'Arry leaves, who will be next to fill the club with overpaid dross. Being fair, Harry made a mistake, if you put your ear to the ground players were openly at war with each other over wages, some lazy on the training pitch etc That and a lack of form and then yet more dross. He didnt have a chance.

He didnt have a chance. Don't drink the Redknapp Kool-Aid, he made plenty more than just one mistake, the best bit of it being that he knew what happened at Saints and proceeded to repeat ALL of those errors (other, maybe, than the one about sticking around too long after relegation).
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Don't drink the Redknapp Kool-Aid, he made plenty more than just one mistake, the best bit of it being that he knew what happened at Saints and proceeded to repeat ALL of those errors (other, maybe, than the one about sticking around too long after relegation). Yeah, he plays decent football, and to be honest he isnt IMO as bad a manager as we make out (though not as good as the media believe) but his constant, keeping his stock high media soundbites is starting to grate. Fwiw I am pretty ambivilant too him, I certainly dont hate him, nor do I love him. He made a mistake coming to Saints at the time, we were doomed, much like QPR FWIW I heard in a few coridoors that Harry regreted taking the QPR job after a week, such was the mess they were in.
The9 Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 I utterly despise the man. Especially his habit of writing teams off and slating anyone he can get away with to deflect blame from himself. I disagree that either Saints or QPR were doomed, he just made the wrong decisions. Sunderland were as bad as QPR most of this season but Di Canio got instant results. As the result at St Mary's proved, anyone can get people to do anything if they put enough effort in - and you KNOW he was putting more effort into winning at St Mary's than anything else he's done this season.

Par for the course, 'Arry has previous for 'regretting' taking a job .......
Smirking_Saint Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Par for the course, 'Arry has previous for 'regretting' taking a job ....... He should never have said as much in public, still goes back to keeping your stock high no matter what I suppose. Even as a fan I woukdnt have taken the job back then though, I used to know staff and people close to the board back then, it really wasnt good. Nice to see Nige changing his LB again today, puts a smile on my face
CB Fry Posted 28 April, 2013 Posted 28 April, 2013 Hilarious to see "Stevey" Cotterill sat in the stands on MOTD putting a shift in for Arry. Jobs for the boys. Wouldn't surprise me to see Arry promote himself as Director of Football and let Steve take it on next season. Young man's game this Championship lark, and besides when it all goes ti ts up, I want to make sure I aint to blame f'sure.
ericofarabia Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Par for the course, 'Arry has previous for 'regretting' taking a job ....... The saggy faced ***** semed pretty happy at the final whistle, smiling away as he shook NA's hand before heading off down the tunnel, safe in the knowledge none of it was his fault.
lordswoodsaints Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 Both managers got what they deserved IMO.....they both stupidly took on impossible jobs and this is the end result.
adrian lord Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I can see Adkins having a career as a perennial Lower league promotion expert, but never making the transition to Prem proper.
The9 Posted 29 April, 2013 Posted 29 April, 2013 I don't think Reading's relegation impacts on Adkins' reputation whatsoever, he's come in a couple of weeks before an inevitable relegation with the team 10 points adrift and a view to building a side to get them back up. If anything, his Prem spell is a free go at trying players out for the Championship. But Redknapp's has taken a hammering : 2/3rds of the season left when he came in, spent millions, and down without a whimper on his watch. He even said it was "his team now" when they beat us, then claimed it "wasn't his team" again last week when they rolled over again. Mark Hughes doesn't come out of it looking very good either, but he was only 6 points adrift with months to go, where's Redknapp ?
