Utd vs Villa

First thing I thought after they'd finished celebrating it was "Saints would never score a goal like that with the current team". Rodriguez would be too deep, and Lambert would never get to the ball in time, even though he may have the striking ability.

I'd imagine a more likely scenario for us would be Lambert playing the ball for Lallana/Gaston/Rodriguez to strike (although ideally it'd be Lambert to Lambert!)

Its hard to tell true ability TBH from this Villa team as they are so poor of form. Delph could potentially look half decent in a decent team. Lowton is raw, westwood could be ok, baker... Maybe, Benteke reminds me of a young Didier and Weimann is decent.

The rest v poor, even their 'experienced head' in Vlaar is pretty useless IMO.

Guzan has had an admirable season though TBF to him

They've actually been in good form of late, but unfortunately they've come up against a side that knew they could win the title tonight and with a player at the very top of his game. Villa were my tip for relegation up until a month or two ago but they've impressed me with some good performances with their young players. They have goals in them too, which is good for a side battling relegation. Will they go down? It's tough to tell.

Besides Benteke (who will go to a top 6 side or abroad IMO), I'm not sure I'd want any of their players in our Saints side. Agbonlahor's pace could cause problems, but he's quite an inconsistant player. Weimann perhaps, he's scored some corkers this year.

Ideally Lambert would be able to run, but then we wouldn't have signed him when at the bottom of League One...

As I keep pointing out to people, their "good form" has been to beat the worst two sides by far in the division and Stoke, who at the time were a team with bottom 3 form. Whenever they play anyone anything other than cack, they look utter cack.

I'd have your arm off for Benteke, Guzan (as a very competent back up), Weimann and maybe even Vlaar would look better with some decent defenders around him.

I've watched the Premier League as an interested outsider these last few years, last year was the most incredible finish we're ever likely to see, but watching history being made tonight, United winning their 20th title, felt different.

WE are part of this history. The competition we just saw won tonight we are a part of. We took points off of their rivals, they had to be at their best to scrape past us twice, and we will be part of this year's final league table.

The JPT, League One and The Championship was fun, and I'd follow Saints wherever they go, but this is the Premier League. People can criticise it all they want, but this is one of the top sporting competitions in the world, and I bloody love being a part of it.

You know what else, one day that might be us. One day it might be us celebrating as our players dance on the pitch. We might not make it, we might not even get close, but dammit we're going to go into each and every season and give our all.

As are most clubs in the league, so what?

Heh, sorry, just had got fed up to the back teeth with a Skate that keeps insisting he's happier in League Two than in the Prem.

That said, I do really wonder how some people keep supporting Saints when all they seem to be to them is a constant source of disappointment, maaaaybe an occasional source of contentment.

Good news !

Just a cpl of quick questions.

1. Do you still think it will need 41-43 points to stay up?

2. What do you think we will do if we don't yo-yo?

Your record to date has been so sharp, wld be cool to know what u think here. I consider myself quite fan. We're still on the cusp of relegation, right?

You can't ask Dalek questions like that. It will break his faith and he will go into mental breakdown.

He is always right if he says we will yoyo we will do so, if not this year but next, obviously this year we have only been walking the dog (yo-yo term)

Normal Saints service to be resumed next year with impending doom and gloom forecast (not Tommy)

So be strong keep the Dalek Faith and we shall all be as miserable as sin soon.

Bless.

It used to be quite cute.

Now, it's just a little bit dull, sadly.

Not that happy it seems. Already their forums are on about back to back promotions and expanding Fratton Park up to 28k, with some saying that wont be big enough.

As its now a fan run club they could sponsor there own seat (we might call it a season ticket) when they have sold all of them the next person in line could then buy a new seat (at B &Q) and put it in the wasteland next to Fratton on building the new stands the new seats could then be installed. that way they will always be sure of forever selling out the ground with the bestest and loudest bell end fans in the country.

The hilarious thing is they are using MLG type logic to justify why 28k won't be big enough. Its Because they had 4 crowds of 20k plus last time they were in the bottom division in the early 80s and they got nearly 30k for cup games against 'boro and Spurs in the 80s. Yet as recently as 2010 them struggled to sell their FA Cup final allocation of 25,000.

Transfered some of this across to the Lounge saga thread

I know what you mean Jimmy and I thought the same thing when they were lit up in gold on the league table and there we were too (albeit on the next page). It's a shame people on here have to lay into valid posts like they do (albeit challenging for the title is a little ambitious ha)
