My team:

------------------------------Boruc-----------------------

Clyne--------------Yoshida------------Hooiveld-------Shaw

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

--------------------Cork-------------Lallana---------------

Rodriguez-----------------Lambert----------------Ramirez

IMO their main threat is Morrison in the no 10 role behind Lukaku and if we play Richardson as a front sweeper defending the whole width of the pitch then we should be able to dominate them.

Has Richardson played at all under Pochettino? Would think he would put Davis back there if Schneiders isn't fully fit, then put Ramirez and Lallana just behind J Rod and Rickie. He has plenty of options but I don't think Richardson at sweeper would be the best one to go with but I may be wrong.

Sorry Saint Charlie but there is no way Richardson is getting any game time...he will be sold at the end of the season and is another relic of our league 1 days

Schneiderlin is fit and will play...Saints will look to bolster the centre of midfield this off season and get depth at both full back positions.

Richardson is a championship player

Its not a joke. It was seriously suggested by a poster on here. They also said that Schneiderlin never tackled, passed sideways and never scored or assisted.

Since those comments the poster rarely posts anymore...probably been away doing his pro license.

I get the impression that Mauricio likes Morgan to get forward more but if Davis is in a defensive midfield role we often get into trouble and it ends up with Morgan dropping back and Davis going further forward. Now next season with Alex Song and Corky at "6" Morgan will be free to roam forward as MP wants.

Schneiderlin is wearing Brian Howard's shirt, that's all you need to know.

Yes, I know what it's referencing, just saying it's never been remotely funny.

Get there early if you're driving. Redbridge roundabout closed again and the best part of 20,000 cruise passengers trying to get in/out having been advised to use Thomas Lewis Way and Bursledon Road/P********th Road to get to the ships. Either way that's a lot of traffic close to St Mary's...

West Brom will be without their captain, Chris Brunt, for tomorrow's visit to Saints after the midfielder suffered a knee injury.

The 28-year-old sustained the problem towards the end of last week's 1-1 draw with Newcastle, and manager Steve Clarke confirmed he will be absent at St Mary's.

“He's not going to make it this week and it is fingers crossed for next week,” said the Baggies boss.

West Brom could also be without right-back Billy Jones, who scored against the Magpies, after he sustained a gashed leg in the same game, although Clarke said he is “hopeful” he will make it.

There is some good news for the Premier League's eighth-placed side, as striker Peter Odemwingie, who has missed the last two matches with a knee injury, is available again.

Odemwingie scored both goals when West Brom beat Saints 2-0 at the Hawthorns earlier this season.

Fellow forward Romelu Lukaku is expecting a much harder test than the Baggies had that night in November.

“Southampton are playing very good football,” said the on-loan Chelsea man. “I saw the game they played against Reading (when Saints won 2-0).

“They are playing differently to the way they played at the start of the season. At the beginning of the season there was a lot of space to play, now there isn't.

“They are very close and when they lose the ball they press to recover the ball in six seconds all the time.

“They are dangerous up front in Lambert especially and Rodriguez, who is scoring a lot. It will not be easy but it's up to us, we have our own qualities.

“I think they will really get at us but we have to react and take the initiative to win the game. The first goal will be really important.”

Brief preview from the Grauniad:

Many folks foresaw Steve Clarke struggling in his debut campaign as a No1 manager but the only bother that West Bromwich Albion have been in all season came via that slapstick Peter Odemwingie skit. Still, the early-season challenge for Europe has long since faded and the task now is to ensure a top-half finish – anything else would be a disappointment given their start to the season.

Southampton, however, are well equipped to leapfrog them during the run-in and fulfil Nicola Cortese's ambition of not merely avoiding relegation but doing so in style.

Finishing in the top 10 may just convince Roy Hodgson to give Rickie Lambert and Jack Cork (as well Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw) a chance and remind Didier Deschamps that Morgan Schneiderlin is French and fantastic.

We all need to get behind the team and make some noise tomorrow, not spend too much time singing Sha La La WTFILN, well, OK for a bit, but concentrate on the job in hand. The next 2 away games are tough, so we need 3 points to not get sucked back in the last relegation spot - FWIW I think we are safe anyway, but glad we are not having to sweat out the last 3 games to stay up!

I agree, whilst I think we are ok those three points at stake tomorrow would certainly take away any little nagging doubts and worry that Wigan will suddenly turn into Man Utd !!

I've done this a few times on football manager bear and can confirm, it does actually work. They are never wrong either (as we all know) as it is the worlds most realistic football game. I even got some of the youth players parking jose's car on it and painting Steve De Ridder's house.

Just been reading in my 'Local' paper that in 2005 last game of the season Baggies and Skates colluded to send us down by letting Baggies win.(I had almost forgotten this) If ever there was a time for 'retribution' then tomorrow is it.

PS.It's my birthday today so a big win tomorrow will be an excellent present.

Clarke believes Pochettino has given the Saints a hard edge.

He said: "He (Pochettino) has done well. It is difficult to come in and pick things up halfway through the league season.

"He has got a good group of players and earlier in the season when Nigel was there they played good football.

"I think at that stage the players were searching to find their feet in the Premier League.

"The change of manager has coincided with them finding their feet in the league. They play good football, they are attractive - certainly at home they are dangerous. It is a difficult game for us.

"His team has been a bit more aggressive - something we have spoken about this week and something we have to deal with. You will see the results on Saturday."

Many had tipped Saints for relegation but Clarke has not been surprised to see them prove their critics wrong.

"When I look at the talent on the squad it does not surprise they have got where they are," he said. "You might feel they need a win to be safe but they are pretty much safe and I am sure they will be in the division next year and stronger for it."

West Brom appear to have little left to play for after an excellent first campaign with Clarke at the helm, and are currently on course for a top-half finish.

Their cause this weekend will also not be helped by the absence of captain Chris Brunt and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu through injury and suspension respectively.

But Clarke wants to avoid the season petering out.

"We would like to finish well," he said. "There are five games to go - so let's pick up a few more points and make it a season we can look back on with satisfaction."

I hope you write a letter to your local paper correcting them on that Portsmyth. Even if Cheats FC had beaten WBA 20-0 we would still have gone down. All they did was collude to relegate Crystal Palace.

BBC Football's preview of the match includes this interesting piece of trivia:

"No side has ever previously avoided relegation from the Premier League after losing their first three games of a season; Southampton lost their first four and yet only a mathematician would quibble now with the notion that they are safe with four games still to play."

[Of course, what was unique also was the quirk that saw us get three of the best teams in those first four games.]

Isn't no promoted team having lost their first 3 games ? I'm sure Saints have lost their first 3 before and still stayed up.

We still managed to lose at home to one of the worst teams. Swansea had Man City, Wigan and Arse in the first 4 games the previous season, but I guess Sunderland were not as difficult as Manure.
