Colinjb Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Absolutely, hope it gets confirmed with the Hartlepool v Brentford fixture this evening. The battle between them and Brighton for 'second place' on the South Coast next season will be very interesting
ART Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Fantastic achievement for Howe seeing where they started when he returned. Will be great if Brighton succeed thru the play-offs although that aren't one of my favorites but are southerners

Barry Sanchez Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Dont understand all this South Coast thing, Bournemouth to Brighton is about 100 miles, thats like Wolverhampton Wanderers keeping an eye on Bristol City................................
Colinjb Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 (edited) Dont understand all this South Coast thing, Large strip of land stretching from Thanet to Land's End, shared by many settlements and football clubs. It's not for everyone, but it's a very definitive point of reference. Edited 20 April, 2013 by Colinjb
The Kraken Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Well done Bourney. Did my degree down there and went to Dean Court plenty of times so have always had a bit of an affection for them. Eddie Howe has done a stunningly good job there, they were hovering around the relegation zone early in the season.
Dr Who? Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 I want Brighton in the Prem, through the play offs.
Lighthouse Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 I miss being 'South Coast Team' in the Sun. That was fun.
Dr Who? Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 I miss being 'South Coast Team' in the Sun. That was fun. We are thee 'south coast team' now though!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 It'll be funny seeing Twitchy managing his 75k a week players back at Dean court.
Crazy Diamond Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Y£$, w£ll don£ to th£m. Th£y'v£ achi£v£d it with nothing but hard work and d£t£rmination.
saintmatt Posted 20 April, 2013 Author Posted 20 April, 2013 Y£$, w£ll don£ to th£m. Th£y'v£ achi£v£d it with nothing but hard work and d£t£rmination. Stones, glass houses
um pahars Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Fair play to them and Eddie Howe has done a magnificent job. Always impressed with what he says and how he carries himself. hope they enjoy next season
Crab Lungs Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Y£$, w£ll don£ to th£m. Th£y'v£ achi£v£d it with nothing but hard work and d£t£rmination. As much as it pains me to say it, they still have to manage and organise those better standard of players. Begrudgingly, I think he's (Howe) done well. Something Mancini is completely unable to achieve at City. But meh, doesn't matter - when the money goes they'll be rattling the buckets our way again.
Crazy Diamond Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 The standard of the Championship isn't great, and I can't imagine it'll improve immensely next season. They'll most likely stay up with the squad they've got, and if they're stupid enough to throw £800,000 on Matt Tubs in the third tier, they will probably chuck a million or more at someone else. It did occur to me, the whole glass houses thing, but really we were always better off to spend in League One than Bournemouth are, in all aspects. Never mind. Maybe we can shake off the charity case thing once and for all...
WealdSaint Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Great that Saints, Bournemouth & Brighton represent the South Coast in the upper reaches of the football world.
Dalek2003 Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Great that Saints, Bournemouth & Brighton represent the South Coast in the upper reaches of the football world. Yes well done Bournemouth and good luck Brighton. Funny really, the 'bestest' team will be languishing in League 2
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Yes well done Bournemouth and good luck Brighton. Funny really, the 'bestest' team will be languishing in League 2 Always nice for their fans to see Bompey rising two divisions above their role models.
RedWillie Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Good luck to them - its a great achievement for a small club. I guess they'll build the last remaining stand or put a temporary one in. Howe certainly gets results down there.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Congrats to AFCB........ an amazing run of results since Eddie returned! Superb
BadgerBadger Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Great effort by Howe and the team, good luck for next season. South coast massive on the up except for the smelly bit in the middle:smug:
Huffton Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Always impressed with what he says and how he carries himself. Used to agree but I lost any respect for him when he whined for six months after we beat them a couple of seasons ago
Colinjb Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Used to agree but I lost any respect for him when he whined for six months after we beat them a couple of seasons ago Bitter at missing out on the gig.... I don't hold it against him.
The9 Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 Just to let you all know the AFC Bournemouth fans were singing "Play Up Pompey" today due to the effects on Sheff Utd, before you get too excited with your praise.
Dark Munster Posted 20 April, 2013 Posted 20 April, 2013 I want Brighton in the Prem, through the play offs. I would too ... if they had a different manager.
beatlesaint Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Good for them, I'm sure considering how much they hate us they would love this Congratulations thread
Miltonroader07 Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Respect to the Cherries, would be nice to have a Friendly at SMS in the sunshine, atmosphere would be great
Pugwash Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Well done Cherries. Always liked and followed them, no reason not to. Would be nice if they could build a bigger following though.
niceandfriendly Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Excellent, don't care if they are still pretending to hate us. Still happy they've gone up as I've always liked them as a club and city.
Crazy Diamond Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Excellent, don't care if they are still pretending to hate us. Still happy they've gone up as I've always liked them as a club and city. *town.
pap Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Most Southampton families will have strong memories of Bournemouth from beach days. Good to see Championship football in the town. Tink they may surprise a few people.
ringwood Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 well done bournemouth , now cemented as the second team on the south coast,
jawillwill Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Just to let you all know the AFC Bournemouth fans were singing "Play Up Pompey" today due to the effects on Sheff Utd, before you get too excited with your praise. To be fair if a Pompey result meant that we were going up I might consider singing it too (well, maybe not, but I don't hold it against them). Good on Bournemouth I say.
Crazy Diamond Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Just remember, they got the nickname 'Bompey' for a reason.
September Saint Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Good for them, I'm sure considering how much they hate us they would love this Congratulations thread Is it hatred or, more likely, they're burnt up with jealousy! Well done anyway.
Golden Balls Posted 21 April, 2013 Posted 21 April, 2013 Would love it if they made a real go of it next year. Really good season for the south coast so far.
The9 Posted 22 April, 2013 Posted 22 April, 2013 To be fair if a Pompey result meant that we were going up I might consider singing it too (well, maybe not, but I don't hold it against them). Good on Bournemouth I say. It just shows what a bunch of 50s boom period leave your doors open glad the war's over where's me washboard let's all be friends small-timers they are, doesn't it ? I bet some of them have Saints STs for alternate weekends... the ones not pretending to hate anyone within a radius of 100 miles paying them the remotest attention, anyway. They could start a heated rivalry with Guernsey FC I suppose...

I will keep looking out for their results as I always have.
