Danny Fox

Agreed, he did very well. Think he's beginning to understand his own limitations more. He's not bombing forward and trying to be creative but instead just concentrating on his defensive play. Doing him the world of good in a positional sense and I think he is now adequate back up to Shaw.

Thought he was pretty average actually. Poor first 20 minutes, constantly out of position. Got a lot better after that; but as the commentators I was watching said, if Dyer had any idea how to provide a final ball Swansea could have been out of sight.

Luke Shaw back next week please.

Positionally he is so lacking. Every chance Swansea created came from Dyer on that side due to Fox consistently playing too narrow. It's the same every time he plays and he clearly isn't learning

If shaw is fit he should be playing. We can't afford to carry Fox any longer and if we're worried about burn out for shaw then we have to get someone in this summer

I don't have a big downer on Fox and he did okay today, but it's not just about his individual performance. It's also about the fact that IMO other players fall short of their normal performances because of the need to cover for his lack of physical and mental pace. We tend to be pulled out of our normal defensive and midfield shape when he's playing, and I dread us turning the ball over when he has pushed up. These issues are far less of a concern when Shaw is playing.

McInally on Sky was surprised Swansea were not awarded penalty for Fox handball. Haven't seen it so not able to comment.

Arms at his sides and the short from Kim was straight at him. Ball to hand.

Having said that, we've seen so many of them given I have no idea whether it should or shouldn't be under the letter of the law...

Yes, they really do need to clarify it because it's becoming ludicrous. Nobody has any idea when it will be given because "the letter of the law" has been changed by interpretation directives. Newcastle were denied a penalty (or survived a penalty appeal?) last week for a more 'blatant' version of the one given against Fox when we played there.

The "letter of the law" was that it had to be intentional. I can kind of see the point about not deliberately "expanding your body" but penalties are being given when players don't have a cat in hell's chance of getting out of the way, never mind seeking a deliberate advantage.

This is exactly the point.... Fox disrupts the whole team by his lack of positioning and mental awareness. Players are constantly having to be aware that he will be out of position and the the opposition will either go past him or the cross will definately come in if he happens to be roughly in the fascinity as he never closes his player down.....

By far and away our most vulnerable player.....

McInally needs to pay a trip to specsavers and if he still thinks it was a penalty he can take a one way trip to the glue factory. Biggest load of nonsense of all time if that was a penalty (especially if the Lallana/Vorm incident wasn't a goal)

I thought he took good care of Dyer today.......he didn't win everything but got himself in the way on several occasions.

Of course Shaw is still the first choice, but I wasn't half as nervous about Danny's performance today as when he played early season....

I think MP was taking a good look at him to decide if he stays.. .or not

If we had any other left back today, we would be slating him due to the fact that every Swansea move in the first half, came from his side. We are actually judging him against previous or standard Danny Fox performances. Compared to a usual Danny Fox performance, he looked good. Compared to any other half decent left back he was ok in the second half and woeful in the first. The bloke is THE worst left back I have ever seen in the premiership and for me is the first name I hope is not on the team sheet for every game. He has liability written all over him. He didn't make any monumental mistakes today so ergo, had a 'good' game. What sort of yardstick are people on here using to judge him?

To be fair to Danny Fox, he's no Olivier Bernard.

Pleased to hear Danny Fox did well today. I hesitate to be critical because he did well for us last season. But in the PL it seems to me teams target him as a weakness and double up on him which means he rarely gets forward and given the importance of full backs to the way we play his inability then to get forward means we lose balance and threat down the left hand side.

Anyone know Fox's win ratio? Played ok today but still often likes to point at unmarked players rather then get near them. Really like him but no room for sentiment and without emergence of Shaw and signing of Boruc I think we could well still be very much in relegation scrap

Fox may not be a world beater but he gives 100% when he plays. I get more ****ed off when our superstar players inexplicably put in half a shift.

FWIW I thought Fox did well yesterday. I had to laugh when the loon sat in front of me was blaming Fox for leaving himself 1 v 2 against Dyer and Routledge

Graham Potter was much worse and a certain saint with a curry house must be the worst left back in pl history
