Gorgiesaint Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 So for the main award, the 6 nominations are: Gareth Bale, Michael Carrick, Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie and the Young Player of the Year, the nominations are: Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard, Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere No great surprises, with the possible exception of Michu being missed out, in the main list. Not so sure about the Young Player of the Year list - Wilshire's been injured most of the year and has Welbeck really scored enough? For me, the winners would be Bale & Benteke. This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 If Bale wins the main award, then surely he also wins the Young Player award by default? Bale & Bale for me. Oh and the fact that Welbeck who has scored about 1 goal in the last 3 years and Wilshere who has played about 5 games this season are in there is laughable. MOSaint Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 Michu should be on the main list. Any number of good u-23s would have deserved the nominations over Welbeck and Wilshere. Here's just a few; Shaw Rafael Weimann Schneiderlin Ben Davies Nastasic etc. A player with only 1 goal and a player who's spent half the season injured being nominated is pretty bad. SaintDan Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 How are Hazard and Carrick in Player of the Year ahead of Zabaletta and Michu? Chelsea have been also rans in every competition this season although agree Mata has been outstanding. Shame Morgan hasn't been noticed although these sorts of awards are normally based on MOTD & Sky exposure rather than the stats such as distance covered, balls won and tackles made. Saint Charlie Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 IMO Michu is definitely best value signing of the season, but thats not what the PFA award is.... Rafael should have ben in the YP nominations but that category is essentially a waste of time because if Bale doesn't win it then something is wrong. For me Bale should win both. POTY: 1. Bale 2. Mata 3. Suarez YPOTY: 1. Bale 2. Benteke 3. Lukaku

S-Clarke Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 What is it with Welbeck? He's a decent enough player, but what on earth ahs he done in the last 12 months to warrant a nomination? Oh, he's scored 3 goals. That must be it. I like Benteke, so think that's a good call and also Lukaku has had a decent season once he was given a run in the team. Carrick has been excellent as well for what it's worth, he's put in a midfield masterclass for Utd this year and his nomination is deserved in my opinion. But based on stats, surely Morgan should be in there? He's rated, statistically, as one of the best DM's in the world. Yet he's overlooked for the likes of Wiltshire and Welbeck. Wiltshire is a good player, but he's another example of someone who is hyped up beyond their actual level of ability, just because he's english and slightly better than the other dross we turn out. Viking Warrior Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 Anna Thompson @BBCAnnaT12m Okay I am going to open up the debate seen as that BBC woman has mentioned womens football. I see some english female equaled PETER Shiltons cap record and there were many saying she is a far better player than Peter shilton etc and more deserving of her caps.. Sorry there is no comparison bewtween mens football and womens football let alone a direct comparison with shilts. There are some women harking on about pay parity with premier league stars . If they were any good they would be selected for the Moan you , chelsea etc mens team ., Truth is they are no where near good enough for the recently relegated portsmouth league 3 team

However when you've got clubs like Man U and the Arse who have about 80 professional players they're most likely to vote for one of their own. So as we don't have that many anyway we're never going to get enough votes to make the top 6. System protects itself, bigger you are the more players you have . Chez Posted 19 April, 2013 Share Posted 19 April, 2013 I'd go with most of that team, perhaps de Gea in nets, who is one of the few keepers I've seen that has pulled off wonder saves this season. Personally I've not been all that impressed by Cazorla. He was woeful at our place. Fellaini was more impressive. He matched the hype. Too good for Everton. Surely a lot of footballers own these 'smart phones' nowadays (or could borrow one from their agent?). Perhaps somebody needs to design an application ('app') that will measure players' performance/impact from August to somewhen about now? A proper PL August-to-now list ought to include Williams, Michu, Baines, Schneiderlin, Vertongen, Maloney.
