david in sweden Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 ..and not before time either. Now he's really part of the team. Most Prem.sides have TWO international keepers.....who next; I wonder ?
david in sweden Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Even better than Niemi IMHO. let's give him another season ..... and I míght agree. AN really was something special. Niemi and Shilton were our best two keepers in my time as a fan.
St Chalet Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 This is has made my day. Stood up in the pub and should GTFI when I saw the tweet.
BlakeySFC Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Fantastic news, weve finally got a decent keeper after all these years!!!
DanW Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 ..and not before time either. Now he's really part of the team. Most Prem.sides have TWO international keepers.....who next; I wonder ? Cody Cropper will be the USA Keeper in a few years.
Appy Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 @JFBLucas: Many thanks to @SimonPeach and @alex_crook for their patience and resisting the urge to blow the Boruc story today. #embargo Hardly patience is it? Imagine the sh1t they would get into if they broke the embargo.
dello Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Great news, another major player signed up for the next two years, I have to say I had my doubts about Boruc at the start, but since he has got himself fit he has been immense. He is an old school nut case keeper. Barring Shaw's signiture thats all our main players signed up on long term contracts how good does that feel. What about Corky?
S-Clarke Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Fantastic news, weve finally got a decent keeper after all these years!!! Bit harsh on Kelvin to be fair, can't forget the contribution he's made to our rise. But this is very good news indeed. Very good goal keeper and a safe pair of hands.
trousers Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 @BroadcastMoose: Southampton keeper Artur Boruc has signed a new 2 year deal with them &said he doesn't think "Champions League is too big an ask" for them @BaddesleyBill: @BroadcastMoose Just like I told you 2yrs ago. You said you would be Prime Minister first #votemoose ) @BroadcastMoose: @BaddesleyBill I stand by it - Southampton will not get into the Champions League - dont be silly

Nothing to do with that comment. Does he mean ever?
mikee Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Even better than Niemi IMHO. Did you see Niemi at his best? At times the goal mouth had a force field blocking any goals - he was that good. I only hope that by the time Boruc leaves he is seen in the same class as Niemi - that would be great and he has the ability and character to achieve it.
mikee Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 let's give him another season ..... and I míght agree. AN really was something special. Niemi and Shilton were our best two keepers in my time as a fan. Agreed, then Timmy Flowers so Boruc still has a bit of work to do yet but Boruc is probably the biggest character of them all.
Olallana Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Great news, great keeper, great character. And great work yet again by our chairman!
manji Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Nice haircut. He's an animal - makes vidic look like some emaciated, smackhead tranny. He was a Legia Warsaw Ultra Yes thats him. We are building such a great team.
Guan 2.0 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 As Shakin' Stevens would say, 'Lovely Stuff'. We now have 7 starters down that you would be hard pressed to replace without considering the top 6 and Liverpool with Shaw, Clyne, Morgan, Cork, Lambert and Rodriguez playing in front of Boruc. You can make it 8 or 9 if Davis and Yoshida continue their good form.
Mattio Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 let's give him another season ..... and I míght agree. AN really was something special. Niemi and Shilton were our best two keepers in my time as a fan. This video shows how much of a good shot stopper Niemi was, I think Boruc has more to his game than just that but it'll still be hard to compete with some of these saves! Also I never knew there was an Ice Hockey keeper with the same name, what's the chances!?
stknowle Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Brilliant news. Had a feeling this one might not happen.
Saint J 77 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 The best and worst of Artur Boruc Saints' Holy Goalie
Cabrone Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Fantastic news, for me Boruc has been our most important player this season. As soon as he got in the team the defence solidified and we moved forward. As good as Niemi? Maybe but needs more time to show what he's got, Niemi was utter class but Boruc isn't far off IMO. Certainly one of the best keepers in the prem.
Olallana Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Boruc is better than Niemi career-wise, but not in the Saints shirt....yet...
Toomer Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 I think he might have been keeping his options open to see how the season ended, now we are as good as safe realised we are on the up so decided to stay.
Avenue Saint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Great news, great keeper, great character. And great work yet again by our chairman! Echo this!
trousers Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Just watched the video of him at the press conference earlier today. He says it was "a bit weird" when Nigel was there (referring to the chopping and changing of keepers all the time)

Mowgli Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Great signing. KD has shown himself to be more than adequate replacement and we have Gazza learning his trade in the background. Still think Gazza will be better than Butland in time.
pap Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Just watched the video of him at the press conference earlier today. He says it was "a bit weird" when Nigel was there (referring to the chopping and changing of keepers all the time) It was, can´t say anything else. I spotted something else. Q: "Do you think Mauricio [...] gave the players more belief, more self-belief, to just take on anybody and take the game to them?" A: "Yeah, I think that brain is very important in this game as well. I think our manager can use that quite well"
Danbert Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Just to add does everyone agree he's our best keeper since Niemi? Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2 Definitely - we got so used to having some great keepers at Saints, it's good to have a decent one again.
pap Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Definitely - we got so used to having some great keepers at Saints, it's good to have a decent one again. Some might argue that the only reason they got that good is the number of chances they got
Saint J 77 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Some might argue that the only reason they got that good is the number of chances they got I think that is why Tim Flowers became such a good goal keeper during the Branfoot days
davefizzy14 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Excellent - very good keeper 1 v 1 which is important in the way we play the high line. Just need Shaw to sign on his 18th and we are well covered. Yeah spot on Saint Charlie. Absolutey delighted with this always knew he was a class keeper.
saintmatt Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Definitely - we got so used to having some great keepers at Saints, it's good to have a decent one again. Bit harsh on Kelv!
Raging Bull Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Glad he's got his hair cut cos he reminds me of that bloke who does amazing spaces, George Clarke.
pap Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 I think that is why Tim Flowers became such a good goal keeper during the Branfoot days I take it you have heard the Benny Hill music in your head before?
musesaint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Has anyone else noticed that he sounds like Jos? If he wasn't Polish you'd be waiting for a "for sure"
Bucks Saint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Great news, great decision. If he gets close to Niemi's experience here we will be in clover
bargeld Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Nice hair cut I prefered this one http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fpDVs-oVcHs/UOQ3i0O8mqI/AAAAAAAAAKs/Nqcg-u2dNNI/s1600/1249611997946.jpg
austsaint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Has anyone else noticed that he sounds like Jos? If he wasn't Polish you'd be waiting for a "for sure" There's also a slight Scottish side to his accent by the sound of it. Watching the highlights video he has plenty of courage to advance and smother at a players feet unlike many other keepers - think Federici and Rodriguez recently.
Saint Paul C Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Since AB has been our regular 'keeper we've conceded 17 goals in the league (4 of which were at N'cstle) - this has made a significant impact on our position in the league and demonstrates why getting AB signed up to a new contract is great news for the team.
BlakeySFC Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 Bit harsh on Kelvin to be fair, can't forget the contribution he's made to our rise. But this is very good news indeed. Very good goal keeper and a safe pair of hands. Never rated Kelvin to be honest (obviously apart from that game at Leeds last season) think hes been a liability for us for a long long time. Great club servant, glad he stayed with the club when we went into L1 as we couldnt of got anyone better at that level but think his level is Championship at best to be honest. (Apologies for the lack of apostrophes my keyboard has decided to partially die on me earlier this evening)
Saint J 77 Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I take it you have heard the Benny Hill music in your head before? I don't follow pap, what are you getting at?
pap Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I don't follow pap, what are you getting at? The comedic soundtrack that used to accompany much Saints defending, in my head at least.
niceandfriendly Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 Never rated Kelvin to be honest (obviously apart from that game at Leeds last season) think hes been a liability for us for a long long time. Entitled to your opinion obviously but he was voted best keeper in League One and the Championship two years in a row. Could have been 3 actually?
