Ampersound Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Someone send that to Roy Hodgson.. He was moaning about a lack of English players earlier
Bearsy Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 lol at all the draws, i spose it was 0-0, 0-0, 0-0...
Smirking_Saint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 How would the table look if only Japanese CBs counted ?
jawillwill Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Racists, the lot of you. Just because their foreign, it doesn't mean that their goals should count for any less.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 That is quite amazing actually. It's something to be proud of, and no it isn't racist at all, it's just an observation.
rshephard3 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Hodgson is a yes man moron who has continued the trend of making England so dull that everyone celebrated a containing drab losing on penalties draw against a classy footballing Italian side in the last major tournament.
John Boy Saint Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Someone send that to Roy Hodgson.. He was moaning about a lack of English players earlier Colin Murray can have one too for his alternative league table on MOTD2!
The9 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 How far behind Spurs are we if you count British players ?
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Lies, damned lies and statistics. This just wipes out every goal scored by a foreign player ignoring the fact that the other teams would have replaced those players with English ones.
Crab Lungs Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 How far behind Spurs are we if you count British players ? Oh, you couldn't help yourself, could you? Bloody Monmouthshireman.
The9 Posted 18 April, 2013 Posted 18 April, 2013 Oh, you couldn't help yourself, could you? Bloody Monmouthshireman. I just don't know why people give a shiny poop about where the people who score goals in the Prem come from, to be honest. I could probably produce a league table only containing goals scored by people in last season's boots, but frankly who would care, and why should it have any relevance ? PS Man U would be top.

Yes I agree. Perhaps the argument is that if only english players were allowed to play in the world cup then england would have a great chance of winning it. Strange.
The9 Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 As someone pointed out on Facebook last night : "so, this is basically a table of teams with the most English attackers then?".
norwaysaint Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 As someone pointed out on Facebook last night : "so, this is basically a table of teams with the most English attackers then?". Not even that, just that our best strikers are English. It could still be the case that Man Utd/Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea/City have more English fringe/rotated players and reserves are better than our first choices, it doesn't even show we have more English strikers or that ours are the best choices for England.
Turkish Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 So does this mean we would be bottom of the table if only foreign players had scored?
This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 So does this mean we would be bottom of the table if only foreign players had scored? Cortese out!
Minty Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 If the assist was from a non-Englishman, then the goal should be chalked off too. And if a goal was scored against a non-English defender, then that can't count because we won't know if an English defender may have prevented it or not. And what about free-kicks and penalties that were scored from, but conceded by non-English players. An English defender may not have committed the foul. And what about defensive mistakes by English or non-English defenders that may or may not have led to a chance on goal... I could go on. Basically, it's pointless.
SuperMikey Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 So does this mean we would be bottom of the table if only foreign players had scored? I could be wrong, but I think the only non-English players to have scored for us this season are Ramirez, Fonte and Davis. Probably amounts to just under 10 goals.
Turkish Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I could be wrong, but I think the only non-English players to have scored for us this season are Ramirez, Fonte and Davis. Probably amounts to just under 10 goals. And Schniderlin.

It could still be the case that Man Utd/Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea/City have more English fringe/rotated players and reserves are better than our first choices, it doesn't even show we have more English strikers or that ours are the best choices for England. If you base it purely on number of appearances it takes the fringe/rotation argument out of it in terms of "proportion of English goalscorers", but agreed it still has no bearing on quality due to the European matches for the top clubs. Either way, I can't be bothered to work it out.
The9 Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I could be wrong, but I think the only non-English players to have scored for us this season are Ramirez, Fonte and Davis. Probably amounts to just under 10 goals. In the Prem : Davis, Schneiderlin, Fox (Scottish international), Ramirez, Fonte. 15 goals in total. Tadanari Lee also scored in the League Cup, fwiw. Even the 3 ogs in our favour have been scored by English players (Barry, Wilkinson and A Ferndinand) and the of the numerous we've conceded, all but one were scored by foreigners (Hooiveld piling in, and one for Guly, plus Clyne at Arsenal).
The9 Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 So does this mean we would be bottom of the table if only foreign players had scored? I don't see THAT League table being produced by Opta. Actually we may not be, we may have just scored more overall than some other teams.
SuperMikey Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 D'oh, how could I forget about Schneiderlin and Fox...
notnowcato Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 Lies' date=' damned lies and statistics. This just wipes out every goal scored by a foreign player ignoring the fact that the other teams would have replaced those players with English ones.[/quote'] Or more foreign players.
Ludwig Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 What a ridiculous table. Only a complete idiot would think there was anything worthwhile in either producing this table or thinking it showed something meaningful. Utter nonsense.
Saint Garrett Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I see it made the newspaper ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2311539/How-Premier-League-table-look-players-English.html
Window Cleaner Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 (edited) Table's wrong though innit. It should be UK players or player qualified to play for England but who might play for other home nations. Our 32 goals include those of Fox and Steven Davis. Edited 19 April, 2013 by Window Cleaner
Turkish Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 I see it made the newspaper ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2311539/How-Premier-League-table-look-players-English.html Which is a shame as the Daily Fail (PMSL) is a disgusting newspaper full of lies, racism and written by lying, right wing journo scumbags. What a suprise the Daily Racist should pick up on such an article, we are probably now their favourite team too which disgusts me. Any shred of credibility that this table had is now in tatters.
The9 Posted 19 April, 2013 Posted 19 April, 2013 Table's wrong though innit. It should be UK players or player qualified to play for England but who might play for other home nations. Our 32 goals include those of Fox and Steven Davis. Davis was born in Ballymena in Northern Ireland and plays for Northern Ireland, not sure that's quite as "eligible" as Danny Fox, who is English but plays for Scotland. Besides, if you chuck in "British Isles" to include, that probably shifts Wigan, and definitely Spurs, up loads. Anyway, it's given me an idea.
