Pubs for Swansea?

Seen the city centre or Frankie and Bennies or a Harvester mentioned....anyone who has been before recommend any?

The concourse in the ground.

Last time very few Saints fans made it into the city centre as the police put everyone straight in the ground. We made it into town and had got half way through our beer before we were told to get in the police van and they'll drive us to the ground or we'll be arrested.

If the OTT police have calmed down, then head for Wind St as that's where all the bars are.

Last trip there was horrible - got searched and asked for details by the OB as soon as I got off the train. And then was made to wait in a van after the game and nearly missed the train. The rain and our capitulation on the pitch only added to the 'day out'.

Think we were one of the lucky ones last time. We had a minibus full of mixed ages and gender and had a police escort there and back to a pub about 10 - 15 minute drive away. They were making other minibuses and coaches wait on a nearby trading estate before being escorted to the ground. Going by train this time and will drink in Cardiff prior to and after the game.

I went on the train from Newport when we lost 3-0 and managed to avoid the shepherding on the way there, only to find the middle of Swansea completely deserted anyway. On the way back, got herded onto a coach and back to the station, despite reaching deep inside for traces of a welsh accent, dropping all my aitches and ts, and calling everyone "butt" loudly in the vicinity of the police for a couple of minutes. :)

I very much doubt the policing will have calmed down, Wales is still in the 80s as far as policing football goes, mainly due to the fact that all of their visitors are from a country lots of them dislike to begin with - and the South Wales derby is even less pleasant. So expect being met at the station, herded to the away cage and on the way back the same via a magical back road to the station which they don't otherwise open. It was not enjoyable, mind you certain moronic Saints fans having a pop at the welsh didn't help my mood much.

I thought he was exaggerating, but the Yellow Pages guy came round yesterday, he's from Cardiff. I mentioned that after last nights game they ought to be a point to the good and promoted, and no doubt be looking forward to the Swansea derbies next season, he laughed and said "I do put some value on my health". He reckons they make Saints/skates games look like friendly get-togethers.

Everyone thinks their own Derby is the fiercest to be fair.
