Seany S Posted 15 April, 2013 Posted 15 April, 2013 Interesting read on Grantland about Matty. Enjoy! http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9164256/matt-le-tissier-comes-retirement
hypochondriac Posted 15 April, 2013 Posted 15 April, 2013 (edited) What a cracking article. Thanks. Sometimes you forget how amazing he was. We were blessed to have him and hardly any other clubs (certainly none of our size) can lay claim to experiencing something similar. Amazing. Edited 15 April, 2013 by hypochondriac
Webby Posted 15 April, 2013 Posted 15 April, 2013 Don't think I've ever seen a player strike the ball so well with both feet. I can only assume his right was his strongest cos that's what he took pens and free kicks with, but he scored some incredible goals with his left too. This is a neat video
doubleonothing Posted 15 April, 2013 Posted 15 April, 2013 Great article. That goal ago against Newcastle is one of all time favourites.
Seany S Posted 15 April, 2013 Author Posted 15 April, 2013 Always worth keeping an eye on Grantland, I find it fascinating reading about British football as written by an American journalist. As a British writer who loves Saints and has an almost autistic knowledge of players and stats and football stickers and all the other minutae that come with it..... buuuuuut one who also loves the NFL (Go Jets!), I would be horrified at the thought of approaching a written piece about gridiron, so fair play to this fella for hitting the nail on the head what it felt like to grow up watching Matty play.
DanW Posted 15 April, 2013 Posted 15 April, 2013 I love Grantland.com. It's one of my favorite places. And a great article about MLT. Thanks for sharing. I don't think Matt played yesterday, though. Guernsey were supposed to play a game on Friday, Saturday, and then Sunday, but Saturday's game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. So I'm guessing that the day off spared some of their players, which meant they didn't need MLT. They won, though, 4-3.

This is a neat video Aside from the exquisite goals take a look at the faces and body language of the defenders after Matt hits the back of the net. It's like, htf are we supposed to stop him.
