Got to be a win for Man U against Stoke. For the north east derby I think a draw would be the best result for us but as feeling optimistic I would go for a Sunderland win as second best option?

Surely a Newcastle win is what we want? I know that'll put them above us in the League, but I'd prefer the 7 point gap to stay as it is, rather than it becoming smaller

Newcastle win is a no brainer!

Not if your not as worried about relegation as some. I think we can easily divide this up:

I am still very worried about relegation: Newcastle Win

I am a bit worried about relegation but think it unlikely now: Draw

I think we are safe: Sunderland Win

Is this not the default position for a Saints fan? I know we probably have a bright future ahead but it's still going to take a while for some (me included) to shed the fear of relegation, it's in our DNA!

Wigan has some tough fixtures left, but they did last year too.

And now with the FA Cup final they will have an added midweek game, think that can be tough on their squad.

This is a bit of a nightmare weekend if you're a Wigan fan. Getting cut adrift.

Would rather have the points on board, rather than games in hand. That's f'sure.

This is also well and truly goodbye to Saggychops.

What is Danny Graham's reaction to the third goal all about? Hands on hips glaring at Vaughan as if to say "wtf did you do that for?"

Either he had a big bet on 0-2 or he thought it had missed :)

Is it?

Saints won't go down and Saints should be looking to finish in mid table. A Sunderland win is the best result for that, so today has gone very well for us.

Does this also mean that Reading and QPR are now within touching distance of relegation?

10 points adrift, 15 to play for.

Should be confirmed within the next couple of weeks, although if we're honest they're already long gone. Just waiting for the rubber stamp.

QPR v Stoke next week, big game, then Reading v QPR on the 28th.

No a Newcastle win is the best result for us or was, it seems we just cant pull away and the other bastard teams keep pulling it out the bag.

We've pulled away, there's no worry any more. Don't stress yourself worrying over the other results. We're fine.

Well our game at Sunderland will be an interesting one, that's for sure. As for Di Canio being a good addition to the league, I wouldn't be happy if he celebrated like that in our faces.

Really ? Wigan will win 1 of there games in hand, you would of thought, that leaves us only 4 points off with 5 games left

That Reading v QPR game will be like a cup final for who finishes bottom.

Reading will finish bottom. QPR have a far better squad and are playing better than Reading are at the moment. Reading's good form seemed to coincide with Le Fondre's run of nicking goals when he was coming off the bench.

Reading's main problems are a lack of pace without Kebe and a lack of a goalscorer. QPR have bags of pace in their team and a good goalscorer in Remy, it's just their lack of spirit, teamwork and also making lots of mistakes that have kept them low in the table.

Look at all the teams in between us and the bottom 3 as well, and our extra goal difference. And the games that Wigan actually have remaining.

If we lose every single game between now and the end of the season by heavy margins, then we may be in trouble. But I see no evidence of anything like that occurring.

Not bothered at all by Sunderland's victory. We don't need to worry any more, which made that second half very entertaining viewing to due two cracking goals (although one was offside and the other terrible Newc marking) and due to Di Canio's reaction. He's going to be fun.

Stoke going backwards though -oh! 0-1 :)

In order for Saints to go down they have to be overtaken by EVERY team from 12th to 18th. It is extremely unlikely ALL those from 12th to 18th will all be able to overtake Saints as they have to play each other (taking points away from one or both teams) and the big boys (where they are less likely to get anything).

A Sunderland win was by far the best result and I'm glad it happened. Saints are looking to finish anywhere upto 9th (possibly even 8th as we have a game at home vs West Brom to make up points on them), so keeping Newcastle as far behind us as possible was the best result.

Before I have no ass left I'd like to point out that I too believe we are safe although I think we will need 40 points to be sure, I was simply pointing out that a couple of wins for all teams below us and a couple of our games resulting in defeats could land is right in it, we never do things the easy way after all.

A draw is the no brainer as it distributes 2 points to our rivals instead of 3 and keeps both teams below us, unless you really think there is a danger of Sunderland catching us then the Newcastle win is the worst result.
