beatlesaint Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 A couple of texts read out on Solent whilst I was driving home - "good to see Fox back in the team" and " Fox and Ramirez unstoppable today" WTF ? Are these people actually at the games or just on a wind up ?
Roger Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Not really. Fair play for getting the goal but other than that he was wasteful in possession and was poor as usual. Was not poor at all much better than Lallana.
Roger Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Was not poor at all much better than Lallana. Indeed. Take away the price tag and there's little to suggest it IMO. I think it's optimism in a lot of cases; he's clearly a good player but I haven't seen one 90 minute performance from him to suggest he's better than Lallana playing in a number 10 position for us. Today was as he was much better than Lallana.
tomf05 Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 I just don't get how anyone who has been playing football for any length of time can be so terrible at both corners and free kicks, and yet takes them so regularly! Iv never seen gaston beat the first man from a corner apart from today when it went out for a goal kick the other side! Every other player we have takes decent corners, Davis, Lallana even Danny fox! Surely it's got to stop

The Kraken Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Today was as he was much better than Lallana. Rog, you keep banging this drum without listening. Is it intentional? Lallana and ramirez were both poor. Both of them. Neither played well. If Lallana's performance today is something you use as a benchmark then we're all in trouble. Although it perhaps explains a lot if you do.

But you said you have seen nothing to show that he's a better number ten than Lallana. I think today he was better.

But you said you have seen nothing to show that he's a better number ten than Lallana. I think today he was better. Stop getting so emotional, Rog. I'm only surprised you're not defending Lambert to the hilt for people not saying he was man of the match. If that's your opinion then fine. But you're going to have to accept that plenty of others disagree with you and think Ramirez was largely under par, other than a well taken goal. And i think you're either being blind or deliberately missing the point about Lallana; I've said on a few occasions Ramirez played better today. But I'd still rather Lallana and JRod in the side at the moment with ramirez on the bench. Try not to erupt too much when you read that, its just an opinion.
Tractor_Saint Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Apologies but found out how to do the black and white picture thing tonight Rickie Clyne Clyne x 2
Chez Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Was not poor at all much better than Lallana. neither were great
Tractor_Saint Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 To those around me that didn't shout like I shouted when I thought the keeper had pulled it back from behind the goal line - SHOUT NEXT TIME. Lallana was with me at least.

Tractor_Saint Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Wrongly, though. Crowd pressure can turn the decision. It was damn close, a bit more help from the crowd and it could have been given.
The Kraken Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Hooiveld:"I think it was a great tackle. It was on the ball and not with a stretched leg, so I was a bit disappointed about that." #saintsfc And as it turns out from TV evidence, utter sh*te.
Sour Mash Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Ramirez other than free kicks was better than Lallana. Neither were any good today were they. Or Lambert to be honest.
Sour Mash Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Apologies but found out how to do the black and white picture thing tonight Rickie Clyne Clyne x 2 Can you start another thread with these pics, I'm trying to read back on people's views on the game.
Tractor_Saint Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Can you start another thread with these pics, I'm trying to read back on people's views on the game. No, and if you don't like it you shouldn't be re-quoting it
Roger Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Hooiveld wtf? Saying it wasn't a foul for free kick. Was blatant.
Saint Charlie Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Clumsy Hooiveld...not for the first time. The glaring weak link in the first XI.
Sour Mash Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 How long have we all been saying that? And why is he still taking them?? Even the manager today got frustrated enough to sub him after the last fiasco. He never plays 90mins anyway. Who knows, if he'd still been on the pitch he'd probably been allowed to keep taking and wasting them.
Olallana Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Also saved a probable goal by blocking Nolan´s shot when Vaz Te walked past Fox in first half.
Sour Mash Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 No, and if you don't like it you shouldn't be re-quoting it What's the point of them? You've coloured in one player on a black and white print, I don't get it?
Sour Mash Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 (edited) Kraken ratings for the game: Boruc: 6. Never really had much to do; as ever tried to get us going quickly from the back. Not much he could do about the goal, although it wasn't a great wall. Clyne: 8. Superb in defence (Jarvis never got a sniff) and a real threat going forwards. Just needs to add that ability to find the killer ball when he gets forward into good positions. Fox: 6. Got skinned early on by Vaz Te but otherwise ok, a solid display. Yoshida: 6. Did well but could quite easily have gifted Carroll a goal when Yoshi completely mistimed his jump for a header; we got lucky when Carroll shot wide. Hooiveld: 6: Once again from Jos a decent performance but a reckless and needless foul gave away the free kick that led to their goal. Cork: 9, MOTM. Superb throughout, he must be horrible to play against as he's just a complete nuisance with his harrying. If he could add goals to his game he'd be a shoo in for England. Schneiderlin: 7. A quietly effective game from Morgan, perhaps subdued by his early yellow. Still efficient and kept us ticking. Lallana: 5. Off colour and never really got going. Ramirez: 6. Similar to Lallana but got the goal. Simply appalling set piece deliveries, please for goodness sake MP get someone else to take them in future. Davis: 7. Tidy display, didn't do much wrong. Lambert: 6. Was often isolated up top and missed JRod. So close to a goal but for a great Jaaskelainen save, but otherwise didn't have the best of service to feed off. Subs: Rodriguez: 8. Excellent display in a limited time and makes you wonder what might have been had he been available for 90 minutes. Has become a key player for us under MP. Puncheon: 6. Didn't really do much but did ok. I thought Schneiderlin was subdued, knowing he was carrying a yellow card, ideally we'd have subbed him, but have no-one even close to his quality off the bench. Agree MOTM of Cork, particularly first half, different class to everyone out there. Edited 13 April, 2013 by Sour Mash
JRM Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 What's the point of them? You've coloured in one player on a black and white print, I don't get it? sort of mug who makes himself useful on a Saturday night while his Mrs watches Ant & Dec probably gave him a sense of purpose colouring players in

Jones91 Posted 13 April, 2013 Posted 13 April, 2013 Really impressed with Steven Davis today. I don't remember his giving it away once today and produced passes into key areas, he has come on leaps and bounds under pochettino. Having said that, the crowd were awful today, no chants for our team just the usual anti ref, anti Pompey crap. What happened to a good old 'oh when the saints'. clearly you weren't in the kingsland, we were belting out 'oh when the saints' and 'come on you reds' and 'one pochettino' and various chants for individual players, so i dont think its fair to judge if you werent in the right area.
s0108787 Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 the problem i see with ramierz is that he appears to be playing for himself and not the team. He always tries the glory pass, dribble or shot and 9 times out of 10 loses posession. Not convinced at the moment. i hope he comes good, quite obviously has ability but needs to start doing the basics right and hopefully the confidence to do the rest will follow.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 West Ham will be delighted with that. Came for a point, kicked the **** out of us and fortunate to get a ref prepared to allow a lot of it. They will know they were played off the park in football terms and were dead lucky to get a point. Allardyce is on a different planet with his comments about how they were comfortable. Two things to work on - Hooiveld learning not to dive in and also to try harder not to look like a baby elephant when confronted with pace. And Ramirez to spend the week kicking a football against a wall, so he knows how hard to swing his leg to get the ball to the right place.
Suomi Saint Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 I thought Saints and Ramirez played well.....I don't know what everyone is moaning about.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Semi frustrated that we didn't take all the points yesterday - as we clearly deserved to I thought - but consoling myself with the cheering realization that at least we don't have to watch bloody West Ham again until next season. Just imagine the grim prospect of having to endure Sam Allardyce's brand of niggely stone age hoofball every single week ... those cockneys deserve a bloody medal. With just a couple of good signings we should take more than just the single point off them next season.
Gingeletiss Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Are support is ****ing **** So is OUR education system.
eurosaint Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 I just don't get how anyone who has been playing football for any length of time can be so terrible at both corners and free kicks, and yet takes them so regularly! Iv never seen gaston beat the first man from a corner apart from today when it went out for a goal kick the other side! Every other player we have takes decent corners, Davis, Lallana even Danny fox! Surely it's got to stop I'm surprised that you say 'even' Danny Fox ? He is our best dead ball/corner taker (Lallana is not in the same league!) and is why I reckon that he could play a strong role at left midfield in front of Shaw ! He is not as bad a footballer as so many make out, he just doesn't have the pace or positional sense to play at LB !! All IMHO of course !
ericofarabia Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 So is OUR education system. Your correct on that point ;-)
Legod Third Coming Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Can the rest of the league vote to relegate a team on the basis that: 1) They don't use the pitch 2) They don't play football 3) They are full of ugly dirty c**ts If so, my vote goes to West Ham.
Legod Third Coming Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Oh and a word for Mike Dean. It starts with "w" and rhymes with anchor. Or starts with "cl" and rhymes with shoeless.
tomf05 Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 I totally agree with you, he has always been a good dead ball option, I think after all my frustration with him at the start of the season I could blame him for anything! I'd like to see him left mid at some point as long as he doesn't sell Luke shaw short!

CB Fry Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Yep, they might be in the championship. Indeed. And we might get to play them in the first league fixture there.
Griffo Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Don't know what's happened to our support this season. Only a handful actually make any noise in the Itchen North, and the Northam could rarely be heard at all. What's happened to us?
Elias Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 I wasn't a fan of the over the top homophobic chanting directed at Skate Taylor. I'm all for a bit of banter but shouting 'faggot' and 'HIV' isn't funny or clever, it's just offensive. **** game, neither set of fans seemed up for it either.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 You can see why many West Ham fans despair at the team they have become and the football they play under Allardyce. A more niggly, cheating, diving, cynical team of hoofers I've yet to encounter in the Premership this time around. Does Allardyce coach them to dive the minute that someone breathes gard down the neck, or are they that type of player to begin with? Take that overpaid, over-hyped Donkey Carroll for example. As well as being a mystery why anybody would be mad enough to think that he is worth £35 million, it is incomprehensible why such a big lumbering oaf cannot keep his feet when challenged to the ball by a much smaller player. One can only conclude that he does it to gain an advantage via a free-kcik, in other words, he is a cheat. What a shame though that the referee didn't realise that they conned him every time. Even the one awarded to them that resulted in their equaliser didn't look justified to me. I'll have to wait and see it on MOTD. We passed the ball about nicely, generally didn't fall victim to their hoofballs and were the better team. But without Rodriguez to provide his energy and cutting edge, a draw was a reasonable result. Rodriguez showed enough in that last sector of the match to suggest that had he been fit enough to start, he would have been the difference between 1 point and 3. Another match where we were unable to play the Pochettino high pressing game, but Plan B looked quite a bit like Adkins' style of having us play, trying to keep the ball away from WH and passing it about probing for an opening. Generally good performances from most of the players, particularly Cork, Schneiderlin and Clyne. Ramirez is frustrating. OK, he scores the goal to give us the lead, but then had a succession of dead ball situations where he failed to deliver a decent ball. It would be good to finish ahead of WH this season, so I hope that they get nothing from their game in hand. I suspect that following Reading and West Ham, Swansea and West Brom are going to be matches that much more suit our style of play and if Shaw and Rodriguez are both back, our chances of the points will be much better. Good summary Wes...
Weston Saint Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Apologies but found out how to do the black and white picture thing tonight Rickie /QUOTE] This was not from the West Ham game. Person sitting next to me was not there for the game!!!!
Chez Posted 14 April, 2013 Posted 14 April, 2013 Clumsy Hooiveld...not for the first time. The glaring weak link in the first XI. didn't look weak when winning countless headers all day against Carroll. Perfect player to combat teams like Stoke and West Ham. Apreciate what he can do rather than constantly moaning about what he can't. You need a big lump sometimes.
