I would guess he has double his money. We seem to still be grounded whilst offering decent money unlike qpr offering 60k to a bench warmer and 100k to others etc

Gaston is on 60k (general accepted view). I'd like to think AL as captain has been offered at least the same.

And I think he has been.

Not just accepted its a FACT. Gaston said to the media what he was on before he joined us, 2m Euros a year net with a 1m Euro signing on fee. Works out over £60k a week. Word is Lambert was looking for similar when he agreed his new deal and I would bet that Lallana and Schniderlin aren't too far behind. I'm sure I'll be told I'm wrong though and no way can this be true. we wouldn't we pay anywhere near this as we are Southampton and grounded and players are here because they love the club, fans and chairman. I'm sure people will demand that I provide copies of the contracts that I have with their wages on too.

If you could that would be a right touch mate. Please and thanks.

Hope they are working on Boruc, we've found a decent keeper now and that's a struggle for some clubs.

Great news about Lallana, very loyal player and I still think he'll get better and better.

Fantastic news for SFC. It shows the intent of the club as I am not sure all these players would be signing new contracts if they weren't convinced by the ambition of the club and NC. We are certainly going places.

How so? Unless im being stupid (always a possibility!) and it IS a Friday, could you tell me where im going wrong?

2m Euros = £1,703,400

£1,703,400 / 52 = £32757.69

Therefor he is on £32757.69 a week?

£1.7m NET, i.e. after tax. So his actual salary will be a lot more than that BEFORE tax etc is deducted, i.e around £60k a week.

Why assume Gaston was quoting his net pay? Is that standard practice when footballers' pay deals are discussed?

Great news...he'll only get better. So nice to be keeping these kind of players, I expect many clubs would have AL on their radars.

I was just referring to Turks' post, he said it was net. I have no idea what was originally said...

[MLG MODE]

The original Corriere dello Sport article, that is referred to in that link, reported the quote thus:

http://www.corrieredellosport.it/calcio/calcio_mercato/2012/08/17-259600/Ramirez+al+Southampton.+Bologna%2C+giusto+cederlo%3F

He can not refuse? " Not really: it is the classical offer you can not refuse. I have 4 years of contract figures important. They give me so much money (2 million euro net per year, more than one million signature) that I put in my life and the whole family

Putting the actual amounts in brackets suggests that the reporter has inserted the figures after the interview rather than Ramirez actually reeling off the figures in direct answer to the question. As such, we can't necessarily assume that Ramirez gave the reporter the figures as part of the answer to the question. Ergo we can legitimately deduce that the reporter MAY have sought the figures from another source (which may or may not have been accurate) and inserted them after the interview.

Would he have stayed if NA was here, my guess is YES, he is loyal through and through, Bale, ****alot and Oxpot please note
I very much doubt lallana would have stayed if we were still in the championship and a champions league side came knocking. Stupid comment.

Wasn't here born here but went south at the age of 5 or 6?? (can only guess the Everton thing is a family thing)

Best bit: "If someone was to say that I'd end my career playing for Southampton in the Premier League then I'd snap your hand off for it."

No idea when he moved but I was the part exchange ;-)
