Barry Sanchez Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 (edited) We should have been allowed to fold as we were bankrupt and football does not make any money. The end. Edited 10 April, 2013 by Barry Sanchez
Sour Mash Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 We should of been allowed to fold as we were bankrupt and football does not make any money. The end. I must have missed us being subsidised by the government? When did that happen?
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 ... should have ... NOT "... should of ..." The beginning.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 This thread will be the epicentre of our attack. Spud prepare to launch
niceandfriendly Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 ... should have ... NOT "... should of ..." The beginning. It's a mistake he makes in almost every post he ever writes. It's not a surprise that most of what follows is nonsense.

Barry Sanchez Posted 10 April, 2013 Author Posted 10 April, 2013 It's a mistake he makes in almost every post he ever writes. It's not a surprise that most of what follows is nonsense. That was not very friendly!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 We should have been allowed to fold as we were bankrupt and football does not make any money. The end. We were allowed to fold Bazza, but luckily ML listened to Nicola Cortese rather than you and decided that you could in fact make money out of football. I don't really understand this thread Bazza, if you're trying to equate a football club with nationalised industries perhaps you could point me in the direction of any football clubs that the state owns? I can see it now in Bazza land, the man from Whitehall deciding on our signings, and you moan about Les Reed.
Barry Sanchez Posted 10 April, 2013 Author Posted 10 April, 2013 Well free enterprise, should we have been allowed to have gone to the wall?
CB Saint Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 Well free enterprise, should we have been allowed to have gone to the wall? We were a good example of free enterprise. We went bust, someone saw an opportunity and bought the assets. Actually it should appeal to your sense of fairness as ML was far more generous to the creditors than he needed to be.
Sour Mash Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 Sorted now, you can put your flag away....................... Doesn't make sense.
saint si Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 Well free enterprise, should we have been allowed to have gone to the wall? We were "allowed" to go to the wall. We were purchased by a private buyer. What's your point?
Barry Sanchez Posted 10 April, 2013 Author Posted 10 April, 2013 We are not a viable business, we are being subsidised, why couldn't we subsidise an industry?
CB Saint Posted 10 April, 2013 Posted 10 April, 2013 We are not a viable business, we are being subsidised, why couldn't we subsidise an industry? If you can find a Swiss billionaire to take on the railways then fill your boots. You will, however, upset Pap because another British company will have fallen into foreign hands.
Barry Sanchez Posted 10 April, 2013 Author Posted 10 April, 2013 So the poor man of Europe us still that? So you agree that subsidy can and should happen?
CB Saint Posted 11 April, 2013 Posted 11 April, 2013 So the poor man of Europe us still that? So you agree that subsidy can and should happen? Not what I said. I was countering the ridulous notion that you could compare a football club funded by a private individual to a state subsidised industry. Why do you think that there are similarities?
luvinthesaints Posted 11 April, 2013 Posted 11 April, 2013 So, if I understand the beliefs of the posters on this forum, Saints and other clubs are fully justified in being over funded by mega rich backers but Pompey illegally bought their recent FA cup bids and other successes? Just checking
John Boy Saint Posted 11 April, 2013 Posted 11 April, 2013 This thread will be the epicentre of our attack. Spud prepare to launch Spud had to answer the call of nature (something about a dodgy Curry...... Didn't catch the rest) , so he gave me the keys and codes as Phil is out on the Golf Course.

Just checking Yes it should be very easy to understand, even for the thickest and most deluded of skates. How does "over-funded" work? Sounds the opposite of the "under-funded" skate model.
Frank's cousin Posted 11 April, 2013 Posted 11 April, 2013 .... Uhm.... fine line between 'underwriting a failing business to keep it afloat - usually characterised by NO progress or improvement and often continuing failure, but kept alive by rich benefactors..... and what ML/NC have done - INVESTMENT, characterised by massive improvements in efficiencty, growth and longer term success as well as an increase in value of the assett. Sanchez fails to diffrentiate between them... and thus fails in his attempt to WUM... LOL
luvinthesaints Posted 11 April, 2013 Posted 11 April, 2013 Sorry, i thought that FA cup wins and finals and uefa cup appearances were a significant inprovement on our previous Div 1 status? Of course you have improved, you started from a pretty low stand point didnt you?

I think you're on the wrong thread... you really can't miss the one I think you should be on... it's the small one called 'Pompey Takeover Saga'...

Barry Sanchez Posted 11 April, 2013 Author Posted 11 April, 2013 Merely saying the coal mines were allowed to die, we are a business and have been underpinned by an artificial source, didn't we also vote against the introduction of financial fair play?
