Mathieu Flamini

If if if.....

Obviously if cork isn't playing he'd be great, but we can't justify having somebody on his level of wages sitting on the bench "Just Incase" Cork is out for 2 months.

JWP is also more than capable as a temporary replacement, he hasn't put a foot wrong whenever he's came on from the bench this season.

What if COrk misses the first two months of the season like this year? You'd be happy having JWP in his place?

Yes, I'd be happy with JWP. At his age he is improving all the time so that the 18-yr old JWP in Sept 2013, 2 months off his 19th birthday, will not be the 17-yr old JWP of Sept 2012.

If indeed we are looking at Mathieu Flamini, which I very much doubt, just his agent doing his job I expect, then I would be worried about who will be leaving. I still expect Morgan to move to this summer if he doesn't get a call up for the French squad on their summer tour to South America. Any player with serious ambition to be in Brazil in 2014 will want to be part of his country's squad by this summer, after that it's too late. See him at Man U or Arsenal myself. Steve Rowley from the Arse has watched him 5 or 6 times of late and Wenger was extremely evasive when asked about him during the France-Spain game. Just depends on how much Nicola is prepared to refuse for him, if we get a bid of over 15 million he'll be gone.

Unfortunatley if we want to push on, we DO need may need to have such players on the bench. I'd suggest you take a quick look at our form with and without Cork and Shaw to see how important good quality squad back-up is. JWP isn't good enough to replace Cork or Schneiderlin, if we're ambitious, we need better than that in the squad.

We don't know how much JWP has or hasn't improved though, as he's hardly played or shone since Sept 2012. Again, I would suggest you look at our form with and without Cork/Shaw - that will show you the importance of having genuinely stong back-up in the squad.

Think Flamini is a better player than people are giving him credit for on here - he was superb in his last season at Arsenal and has been good at a top side in Milan. Still only 29 so hardly over the hill.

Cork is a really good player and has been brilliant this year and it would be harsh on him to lose his place. But if we stay up, which it looks odds on that we will now, people on here talk about moving up a level in terms of players - I think Flamini does that from a central midfield perspective. Besides, if you are playing the two midfield players like Poch has with Cork and Morgan, I think you need three top players in that position anyway to have a real decent squad - account for injury, bans, loss of form, tiredness etc.

JWP is a fantastic prospect, but I see him as a more attack-minded player anyway, and i'm not sure many of us would really be comfortable if Cork or Morgan were injured, to have JWP playing that role for a lengthy period of time.

Just my opinion of course, and probably, wage demands and interests from "bigger" clubs would rule us out of this one anyway.

Doubt it myself. £15 is less useful to us than Morgan. We are in a new world.

Not even close, you'd have to add at least £10m on top of that for it to be realistic. Look what we sold Chamberlain for and compare where they are in their respective careers and importance to both clubs - look at Spurs quoting £70m+ for Bale and the fact that Arsenal are sitting on a shed load of money. It wouldn't surprise me if they made a very significant bid for him though.

I would say Morgans 'value' is about £15m, but I don't think we'd sell for quite a bit more than that. Bidding starts at £20m...

Carrick went for about £18m to United back in 2006. It won't be long before Morgan is seen in the same light as Carrick was back then.

Too old? He's 29

for some 29 is the back end of their career. Not sure about Flamini, he never had great pace so perhaps he can continue at the same level for a few years yet. With Morgan and Cork offering midfielders that have the legs to really get up and down the pitch Flamini feels like a step back into the past where players sit and hold and don't do enough quite frankly.

AC Milan type wages would be a problem too I would imagine.

He has only played 15 times in the last two seasons due to a serious knee injury. No thanks.
He's played 17 times for Milan this season alone and scored as recently as last weekend against Fiorentina. Has obviously had injury problems though and can't see him being quite our sort of signing. Would defintiely do a job for us if injures have been sorted though.

Whoops I only looked at league appearances. Good player but injury prone players always worry me as signings. He played two games last season because of his knee.

Carrick £18m I had forgotten that what a joke. Next you will be telling us that along with woeful Welbeck and clueless Cleverley thay are all playing for England

In your dreams

Why? We don't need to sell, he's been with the club 5 years and given him tons of experience, just signed a new contract, statistically the best DM in the world, is our best player, and surely on the verge of a France call up. Add to that players like Henderson went for 20m, Allen 15m, I see no reason why we'd entertain any bids of under 20m.

Over 15m for Morgan? What world are some of you living in? Please take off your else tinted spectacles before your end up disappointed!

Wake up and smell the cappuccino, mate. No way at all are we gonna sell Morgan for 15m or less. Long term contract, lots of ability and potential, we don't need to sell, and he wants to stay her. Silly money needs to be place on the table for Cortese to even consider accepting.

We'll see - as I've said oft times before - its a good job some of our fans don't conduct transfer negotiations. My only disappointment would be losing Morgan

There are many on here that are looking through Red/White tinted spectacles. Morgan has a long way to go to match Carrick's career in the EPL and he is not our best player.. he's had a good spell but is not irreplacable.

Sometimes I do wonder if our fans watch us play...Morgan IMO wouldn't look out of place in any team in the world.

I seem to recollect being told that expectng more than a couple of millions for Walcott/ Oxlade Chamberlain was in our dreams. I think that its more that red and white blinkers blind some fans to the real value of our players. Thay can't be worth much - they don't play for someone else!!

Mega lololololol at you lot!! 15m! I don't want him to go but I reckon 8m would do it

500 000 more than what we sold Kevin Davies for in 1998. You're living in denial (and I'm not talking about the river in Egypt).

Oh, I watch us play, and also realise we are still in a relegation fight, albeit I expect us to stay up. Morgan has 1 year premiership experience and he's a world class player ?

You need to try some objectivity when watching players from other teams that you believe are overrated.. which is anyone playing for another team the way you go on.

I think Morgan is absolutely class. I love watching him play and think he is one of the best midfielders at what he does in the league. Yes I'm probably bias, but thats only because I watch us week in week out.
