JoeShmoe Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Want to put in a big word for Davis, a lot of the other guys get the headlines and rightly so but like JRod he's been superb under Tino, links play so well, puts in a real shift and when he ticks we are a much better team. Been a really good signing, a real players player

Joesaint Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Great play today, and really should af scored as he did have a couple of nice chances. In fact a few of our players had some pretty big shots not on target! I though Cork was really really good though.
JoeShmoe Posted 6 April, 2013 Author Posted 6 April, 2013 I like him, seems to help us snooker the opposition. Good one, right on cue
CB Fry Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Should definitely have scored earlier, shame he didn't because he was brilliant today. Quickly becoming a key player alongside Cork/Morgan in the engine room.
ottery st mary Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 (edited) Top player and helps make the high pressing game work.. Albeit we had to adapt slightly today. Always liked Steve Davis..100% heart and soul; with a lot of energy and good ability.. Makes our team/squad stronger and top ten certs. COYS:) Edited 6 April, 2013 by ottery st mary
St Chalet Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Good one, right on cue Is making the most of his break.
Miltonaggro Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Just shows how football is never clear cut, I thought he would flourish under Adkins, but it's Pochettino who is getting the best out of him. When we are looking in the summer I sincerely hope we can unearth some more 'bargain' diamonds like Davis and Boruc...
IN MY DAY Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Here here, good shout. Been outstanding all season for me, thriving under MP. I think we are stronger when he starts, instead of coming when we are chasing a came.
John Boy Saint Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Always been impressed, absolute steal at the generous £750k we gave Rangers. In fear of being slapped down the only analogy I can think of is: a cultured intelligent Richard Chaplow.
doc oli Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Brilliant today, simply brilliant. Don't think he put a foot wrong. Symbolises the energy we have.
Sheaf Saint Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Yep. He was a very close second for my MOTM today. Tremendous work rate and very intelligent with his runs from midfield to take defenders away from the other attacking players. Got into some good positions today and could (perhaps should) have scored from the one-on-one he had after being put through by Lambert in the second half.
S-Clarke Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Think he's class. Some of his touches are pure class and he never seems to give the ball away. With him and Morgan in the middle we're never short of legs.
Dellman Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 I never thought much of him first half of the season but something has brought the best out of him, suppose it must be MP that's what managers are paid do, well done NC for a daring appointment which I didn't approve but I do now!
Ewell Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Sometimes the transfer fee paid does not reflect the player you are. Some fans would do well to remember that.
Horton Heath Saint Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Steve Davis is boring. Steve Davis was brilliant.
Under Weststand Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Chalk this one up for me. I agree 100% under Pochettino he has been superb. The three in midfield complement each other so well it is a joy to watch at the moment.
Tamesaint Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 He was brilliant today. Just a pity he didn't put away the excellent through ball from Rickie.
Saint Billy Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Agreed, was dubious at first but has really come good second half of the season.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Has a good head and a calming influence about him. Keeps it simple and does it very well. Very tactically aware as well. Fills a few gaps in an inexperienced squad.
um pahars Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 Texted same thing to a mate earlier. Earlier in the season had him down as a bit of a Jim Magilton, but in recent games his pressing, energy and commitment have been a real positive.
melmacian_saint Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 (edited) I'm impressed at how easily he finds simple passes within a split-second of touching the ball and how our tempo just gets a massive electricity boost every time he's on the pitch. He adds composure to our attacking game and has made a difference when it gets to finding solutions to our attack whenever our initial ideas don't work. QPR game is the example of his importance. Cork-Schneiderlin-Davis is a midfield which I think is good enough to take us up to the upper mid-table level we had in Strachan's finest hour of 02/03 (which is much more difficult to achieve nowadays). We payed more for one player of our midfield back then (Rory Delap - 4M) than for the 3 of them. I know the contempt we have for Mr.Reed, but... Edited 7 April, 2013 by melmacian_saint
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 GLASGOW SAINT Got ALOT of stick for supporting him after his move from Rangers. Told you he would come good and glad to be proven right again
niceandfriendly Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 He has been good all season but especially so since Pochettino has come in. Great signing Mr Adkins/Mr Transfer Committee
georgeweahscousin Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 I think he is a bit 'hit & miss', when he plays well he is very good, but he has had some shockers this season too. Another who looks better under MoPo.....
rooney Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 Agree with others here that he has been playing very well of late.
DirkThunder Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 Davis must be on significant wages to come to Southampton so surely his transfer fee is a little bit irrelevant?
Faz Posted 7 April, 2013 Posted 7 April, 2013 Hmmm. Interesting....... I though the played well, but I seem to recall he gave the ball away at least as much as Gaston - but in more dangerous positions for us defensively. But I guess if you only cost £750k you can get away with that.
