will be a chance for Matt to win some Silverware!

as a fellow guernseyman my brother and i laughed quite a lot at this article, but tbh i don't see him getting in the team ahead of Ross Allen as his scoring record for the past two seasons has been unworldly, we're top of the league and have 17 games to play in the next month and we almost got the FA Vase final which is held at wembly last week, however we didn't make it but if we did our whole island would just about fill over half of wembly.

We are not of the league but if we win our games in hand we could be,he has been signed on for most of the season like someone said, not sure why this has appeared now he will never get a game I assume its all a PR stunt

And currently losing 2-1 as we speak,we played Friday, today and are playing tomorrow,as fit as these guys are that is a lot of games to play in a month.

Maybe MLT will get a game lol

Lost 2-1 tonight, can still drop 3 points from Games-in-hand to still be top of the league, hopefully Egham drop some more points. Players looked, understandably, knackered tonight. Tomorrow will be interesting. MLT would be good for set pieces

we're top of the league

my bad we are 4th in the league 17 points adrift of the top spot but with 10 games in hand.

 well, that's nearly the same I guess.

No chance of him playing at all,he would be blowing out of his arse !!

Like I said its got to be a PR stunt for attention or something similar

Do Guernsey play in the Combined Counties League, it seems like a strange choice to me.

They do play in the Combined Counties League, yes. Not a strange choice at all, he's from Guernsey, his brother, Mark, is the Secretary and Matt himself is the President. Also, he's been training for a half-marathon, so is probably fitter than he's even been, not that he's going to be doing much running when he plays

I know Matt is from Guernsey, I meant the Combined Counties seems like a strange league for Guernsey. You would have thought that the Wessex or Western leagues would have been the league to play in. Whats the story.

it's to do with travel, as they obviously have to fly to each away game, the CCL teams are generally situated closer to Gatwick/Heathrow than other leagues

Would you prefer 17 points or 10 games?

i do prefer the 10 games in hand, because they are all winnable, it's just the fact they are all being played in the space of a month, and it is taking its toll on the guys already especially after 3 games in 3 days.

This is relate to travel logistics; For Guernsey to play in the English pyramid they needed to have a port of entry to England that had good enough travel services to allow them to travel to and from games and their opponents to have suitable travel arrangements to the Island for games. The best port of entry for this purpose was Gatwick Airport; they started at Step 6 of the Non-league pyramid and Combined Counties Division One was chosen as best placed for access to Gatwick for its clubs (the other prime option would have been Sussex County League Division Two at Step 6). They were promoted to the Combined Counties Premier Division at Step 5 which covers a similar geographical footprint and if promoted this season with no change to the port of entry they will almost certainly be placed in Isthmain (Ryman) League Division One South at Step 4 by the FA National League System committee over the summer.
