If you are supposedly ITK why would you not share publically unless you are directly involved in the deal if it is going to happen anyway. To me it simply suggests you know nothing. As the people who have proved to actually know something have shared it and it has happened not just speculated or 'Pm'd'. Is this thread not about people suggesting who we could buy not pretending they know something when they don't? Correct me if I am wrong, but I guess you will probably need to 'PM' in answer to then boast that you have done it...

Not fair ... I've been a full member since the start and nobody has ever PM'd me. But then I guess that's my fault for spending less than 3 hours a day on here and not having sh1tloads of 'friends' like Glasgow! ;)

If my sources are correct, we will sign a couple of new players before the season starts.

 

If that makes 3 then we then still need another 2 players ...................... we need back up right back for a start and we should replace Fox too.

Is it just me, or are we being linked with a few kn*bs recently? I have no doubt in their ability as footballers, but do we face the risk of disrupting the harmony of the squad? I guess the higher a club a club wants to go, the higher the probability one would have to put up with some attitude problems.

 

What ever happened to a good, honest, hard working bunch of lads, pulling together in the same direction??

Shared what I was told - don't know anything else about it. Don't quite understand the level of hostility, probably worth remembering that this is a thread which posters are likely to want to share and discuss rumours/snippets they've been told.

To be fair, if you were the source to an ITK'er but saw they were spilling the beans on the web, the chances of you then releasing further info to said ITK'er would be pretty slim i'd say. And these ITK'ers want their info. People should just stop being so jealous of those of us swimming in the right circles! ;)

Presumably because you don't want to upset your source, who's bound you to confidentiality. Could be a friend, and even if not they're unlikely to give you more info in the future if you leak it.

 

Not to suggest that more than a few ITKers here actually have a clue.

Have not been told of anything about to happen soon. tbh i have left my source alone since the lovren deal and they haven't let me know of anything close other than the club are keen on wanyama. nothing more that what everyone already knows tbh.

only got one more post so will save that incase something crops up early tomorrow but i'm not expecting anything tho.

Okey doke! Cheers for the little update. Wouldn't surprise me if something is happening as it has gone quiet of late until yesterday and tonight. I think Wanyama won't be long off being confirmed a Saints player. Still think a striker is needed. Full back backup is critical however. That surely has to be the next priority (Gamez?).

As Weston Saint said, we aren't signing "back up" players.

I often believe the timescale is about 5 days once you have agreed a fee with a club, I do get the impression players cut their holidays short to sort out the final details plus do the medical.

 

So I predict Stoch will be today or Saturday, Ever Banega on Tuesday and Wanyama end of next week if no other club comes forward.

Then that leaves our covering rb/lb and our record breaking CF to sign once the market moves faster.

the difficulty is though we need a bit of depth at full back as we are a bit bare there, but who are we going to get better than Shaw and Clyne and who is going to come here and play second fiddle to them that is better than Fox?

i reckon we should be getting our back up players from the youth team, it's the only way half the squad is gonna ever be academy.

 

Will cost us points tho!

I would favour a decent youngster. That way they would be happier to sit on the bench but with the potential to be even better.

You could argue that Targett and Chambers can fill this role so maybe no need to sign anybody. If they are as good as they are thought to be and the plan is to integrate young players into the side it doesn't make sense to sign players that effectively block their progress.

Very true, bit of a catch 22 really, they want to progress and sign better players, but keeping the current ones is important too, maybe someone like Byram from Leeds or Trippier from Burnley.

 

As you said, very hard to get anyone to come here if they know they are second fiddle.

I reckon MP thinks Cork can play at RB & he will keep Fox.

Kieran Trippier at right back and Martin Olsson at left back - both would compete for a starting place at right and left back and be happy to step up to the premier league

Just a thought - if we were to end the summer with the signings of Lovren, Wanyama, Stoch & Osvaldo we'd have signed 4 players with 43 Champions League & 33 Europa League (incl. qualifiers) appearances between them, not to mention all 4's international caps. Exciting stuff.

So... Reading signed Royston Drenthe. Attitude problems, but no doubt a super player.

Tin Jedvaj could be a good signing. 17 year old centre back playing for Dinamo Zagreb. He has already trained with the Croatian national team meaning that Lovren being here could help him favour us, not to mention our reputation with young players. I heard about him a few months ago but he's just cropped up again because Roma have failed in a £5m bid, and according to the Sun Arsenal are ready to pay £6m for him:

Not difficult integrating someone back into a team which:

 

A) he already knows; and

B) he wants to play for

 

The best managers are at clubs where you don't hear of any conflict

Not really considering the Puncheon situation for the previous year. Generally under Adkins there was very little conflict, so that's a good reflection on him.
